Amazing service

Absolutely amazing service — I honestly can't recommend AFG Law enough. As a first-time buyer, I expected the process to be stressful, but Rebecca Mannion and her team, Rebecca Coles and Jessica Critchley, made everything so fast and smooth from start to finish.
They were thorough, professional, and always so helpful, while also being lovely to deal with throughout. I was recommended AFG Law myself, and after this experience I completely understand why. I'II definitely be recommending them to everyone I know.

Apparently this is what they consider good customer service!

To confirm, I am not their client, nor will I ever be!! A true professional would consider the negative impact to all stakeholders, and continually look at how to improve their service.

If they have "another side" to this, then the mere fact I am writing this shows they have never attempted to try and resolve or compromise...just dig their heels in more and more.

This law firm seems to decide to spring an issue that can take months to resolve at the 11th hour of a sale, giving no idea of a timeframe and effectively keeping the whole chain to ransom, and making everyone lose money. When that is raised to them, they just flippantly say "well why can't they pay more money? (???!!!)

Tone
Deaf!

I wonder if they would wait in that situation, knowing they will lose £000? (Rhetorical question...I know they wouldn't)

I'm all for legal process and getting things right, I really am!! but there HAS to be some common sense and critical thinking skills applied to certain house buying issues. Otherwise we will end up with the conveyancing process taking 12 months rather than the standard three....where mortgage offer dates mean nothing. Or...houses never being able to be sold. But I suppose they don't care about that because they get paid regardless.

This is a well known issue that delays a sale. If they are absolutely insistent on such a small level of risk, why not look at this issue when they were assigned in October? Or at the very least raise it to the client that it could be an issue, so they are not blindsided later on, causing them, and everyone else, stress and anguish.

But no, lets wait until 4 months later, ensuring the sale takes minimum 8 months instead (??!!).

And let's make all the other solicitors involved the enemy, ignoring any attempt to support each other and look how to move this forward.

Some solicitors know the likelihood of this being enforceable is slim to none too, so it is a pointless, expensive exercise in madness. But of course fall back on the excuse that its a lender request.

Urm....they will just do what a solicitor advises?

When questioning the reason for the delay, they basically said to the client to go somewhere else if they don't like it, effectively abandoning them and knowing changing solicitors at the 11th hour will also cause delays. Great power move there...do you feel big and strong?

I am not the only person this has happened to either. They seem to have form for this.

If this is what they consider customer service (because apparently that is their core strength HAHAHA) then I really feel bad for their clients.

It really makes me question if they are working for the best interests of their clients?

This law firm have held £10k of my money for 3 years.

They need to review some simple post completion work that is formally updated on the land registry and they continue to ignore my solicitors request for a meeting to ensure this matter is completed and my funds released.

I would not recommend this firm to anyone.

I am now formally logging a complaint to the SRA.

Be aware of their hidden charges

Firstly why AFG law didn’t asked me feedback via Reviewsolicitors

Based on my personal experience, I was dissatisfied with the service I received from this firm.
Elizabeth Mcwhinnie was terminated at short notice despite upcoming court deadlines, which caused significant stress and left me with limited time to secure alternative solicitors. I found the timing and lack of practical support particularly difficult.
I also had serious concerns regarding billing transparency. I was asked to pay fees on a monthly basis and had to repeatedly request detailed breakdowns of the invoices. Only after doing so did I become aware of multiple charges for minor administrative actions, including sending or acknowledging emails, calling twice because I didn’t answer at the first call and follow-up emails requesting clarification of bills. These charges were not clearly explained to me in advance, and in my view the cumulative cost was disproportionate.
In addition, I felt there was a lack of proactive document management and evidence preparation.
Based on my experience, I would advise others to be careful and to closely review and request full explanations of all charges.
This review reflects my personal experience and expectations, and others may have a different experience.

I am currently in the middle of selling my property, with AFG Law providing the legal representation. Despite some bumps in the road during the sale process, I must commend Mr. Billy Makin (Paralegal) for the high level of service he has provided so far.

Billy is extremely professional, knowledgeable and displays excellent communication skills. Whenever I have a question or request an update on the sales process, Billy will always respond promptly and professionally.

Thank you Billy! AFG Law are lucky to have you as an employee. You represent your company extremely well.

Rude and ignorant company

This company was used by the seller and builder of our house in 2021. We are now selling this house and have experienced significant delays regarding a missing piece of paperwork that should have been required - section 38. The builder advised his solicitors (AFG) never informed him this is required or what this was. I have emailed on the 14th October asking for an explanation etc and heard absolutely nothing back. I left a Google review and they advised me to email their customer service email which I did and also have heard nothing back. Please don't use, their ethics and quality of their work is poor. The buyer of our house has now dropped out as he wasn't informed about the road situation and the missing Section 38. We have spent thousands already and to not hear back is an absolute disgrace.

Extremely poor experience

I wish I could give a good review but the experience has been extremely poor. For a simple remortgage it took us over 3 months to complete due to so many mistakes. My name was spelt incorrect on my mortgage deed, our address was often spelt wrong and we missed deadline on completion pushing us back a week and therefore costing us yet more money due to my last name being spelt wrong. When we rang, we simply got ‘we are super busy I’ve got 11 completions to do today’. When you are paying money, you expect a decent level of service and it simply wasn’t there.

Communication terrible
So many mistakes
Rude emails making us feel wrong for chasing
No follow ups
I had to chase to even see if we completed as our mortgage provider emailed before we even knew.

Would not use again.

Broken promises, disinformation and extreme delays

This company seems to take forever for everything. My conveyancing has (so far) taken 9 months and only now do they decide the garden plan slightly overlaps another (not unusual I guess) .. I've been kept in the dark and confusion throughout dealing with unqualified staff and now they tell me they don't think I'm polite enough !(I have been courteous throughout and remain so despite misdirection and broken promises). Truly I have no choice but to complain.

Shocking service

Shocking service, communication was extremely poor! Waited 3weeks per email reply, left multiple messages and emails with Greg and his assistant and didn’t get a reply. Wasted 7 weeks before moving to a new solicitor.
