Agoda poor customer service

I arranged a hotel with Agoda from the 9th to 10th August in Blackpool. The booking was confirmed by Agoda
I drove to Blackpool on the 9/8/25 and arrived at the hotel after having some lunch and a couple of drinks.
I was told by the hotel owner that the hotel had been overbooked by Agoda. The hotel owner then contacted Agoda. Informing them that the hotel had received a number of bookings that they had to cancel due to Agoda overbooking the hotel. The bookings had been taken by Agoda even though Agoda knew there was no availability at the hotel.
I had been the second person to arrive at the hotel expecting no problem with my booking. I was told by the hotel owner that Agoda had found alternative accommodation and an upgrade for the first person that this had happened to. The hotel owner spoke to Agoda, on my behalf, but they would only agree to a refund in thirty days and a 10 percent discount. The hotel owner told Agoda that they had a duty of care to me , in the same way they had a duty of care towards the first person this had happened to. However Agoda refused to find me alternative accommodation. This meant I was stranded with no accommodation. I eventually had to pay to stay 5 miles away in accommodation that cost almost double what I was originally going to pay.
In conclusion Agoda would only help in a way that they thought was appropriate and that changed according to which representative you were dealing with. I have made my grievance known to Agoda but as yet received no confirmation that they were taking action or looking at compensation for a ruined expensive day.

Avoid at all costs. Agoda kept my £500 even after the hotel cancelled my booking. Blamed everyone else and lied repeatedly. Scammers

I booked a £500 hotel room through Agoda that was advertised as a triple room with a double and a static single bed. What I actually got was a double and a flimsy rollaway bed — completely unsuitable due to my disability.

When I called the hotel directly, the reservation manager agreed the room wasn’t as described, and cancelled it free of charge. She confirmed no payment was taken, and sent me email proof that she told Agoda’s third-party agent to refund me.

I passed this full email thread to Agoda — including the hotel’s confirmation of the cancellation, the fact that no money was taken, and that the third-party agent had been informed.

But instead of processing the refund, Agoda kept my money and started blaming everyone else:
• First they said the hotel refused the cancellation (false).
• Then they said their third-party agent wasn’t responding.
• Then they sent me multiple “check-in” emails — even after the hotel had confirmed cancellation — which could’ve left me stranded if I hadn’t double-checked.

They’ve ignored solid evidence, failed in their duty of care, and refused to take responsibility. I was mis-sold a room, and they kept my £500 even after the hotel told them to refund me.

Avoid this company at all costs. You could be left without a room, no refund, and no accountability.

Not trustworthy

We booked a superior room with a view in Copenhagen, but when we arrived at the hotel, this room was not really available, only a standard room. No compensation for the price difference by Agoda nor the hotel. so overall they just double charged us for a simple room.

My credit card was compromised two days after booking two hotels on Agoda. I used my credit card for one booking and my partner used hers for another. They both ended up having the same fraudulent charge on them. I’m not sure how they could possibly be allowed to operate as a service.

Agoda is a scam

Agoda is a scam, I booked a double room with double bed but when I check in they gave me a 10 bed dormitory room , customer service is so bad that they said they will find solution in 24-48 hours, and after waiting for that long, the solution they gave me was "15% compensation" how ridiculuos was that ?

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. File a complaint with your Attorney General so they have a record of the fraudulent practices of this company. This company practices bait and switch. Think you're buying refundable? Check back 1 month later and it might just miraculously turn non-refundable. No refunds for any circumstance not even with evidence. Run the other way! You've been warned.

I would give 0 stars if I could

I would give 0 stars if I could. wanted to amend a booking I was not asking for a refund and no one would help or allow it. Then I asked if my parents could use the tickets since we are not flying back to the UK on this date, they again told me no! Do not waste your money. The worst customer service I've known.

THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU!

THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU!! I have in the past regrettably recommended friends to Agoda and they had a problem and contacted them and they would not help. I have booked through them numerous times and this is the second time I’m having a problem and they are doing the same thing they did to my friends. They had incorrect information on their website about a hotel and I was trapped staying in an uncomfortable situation and I called them and they asked for supporting documents that I had sent to them numerous times and I keep getting the same response from Agoda that the property is not responding. This is the same lame excuse that they give to everyone that the property is not responding and then they end up closing the case and keeping your money. DO NOT TRUST THEM!! They do not service what they sell. They also overcharged me for the hotel and I sent the official invoice from the hotel to them and every time I send an email, they’re telling me they need supporting documents. Absolutely ridiculous.

Appalling response by Agoda to appalling hotel

I now have No faith Agoda either understand the issue or are capable of resolving the issue.
The hotel did not honour the booking- we need a full refund of £297

The hotel did not give us essential check-in information until 01.46am on the 25th i.e. way too late so we slept in the car instead.

I'm absolutely livid with the Hotel (Cardiff university guest house) and Agoda's repeated inappropriate response to this issue-

I/we were due to stay at the hotel on the 24th May
We attempted to check-in in person at 11am, 6pm and 12am (midnight).
There was no one there- we were informed by a cleaner that we would receive a text msg with room number and access codes.
We rang and messaged the hotel contact number and Agoda several times throughout the day.
At about 10.46pm we received a request for ID from the hotel- we sent a photo of my driving licence by Agoda/email (the file was to large ), txt and whatsapp.
At 01.46am we received check-in details- this was however far too late as were asleep in our car.
An email with check-in info was also received at 07.47am- obviously also way too late.
Immediately upon returning from our ruined visit I contacted the hotel and Agoda to arrange a full refund which I assumed would be a formality as the host had failed to honour the booking.
Since then I've received absolute nonsense emails from Agoda.
They've told me to contact the hotel- I have of course but they refuse to respond every time.
Agoda have asked for details about proof of where we stayed - this is irrelevant the point is we weren't able to stay where we booked.
-it is obviously impossible to book somewhere else so late
Agoda have said they've tried to contact the hotel but always also not been able to.
Agoda have emailed to say that we have been asking for a cancellation waver- we are not asking for a cancellation waver!
Agoda have emailed to say there will be a £13.95 refund- this is hardly appropriate for a booking of £297 which was not honoured by the hotel.
(why would you offer a refund if you think we have cancelled).
I've rung Agoda countless times - they say they understand the problem (i.e. that the hotel cancelled and a refund is due) and will contact the hotel-
Then I get another email saying the hotel doesn't respond and they are back to charging me as the hotel haven't responded to give a cancellation waver.
I ring them again and they say they understand that the hotel has cancelled and a refund is due and will contact the hotel again
And then again they email me to say the hotel hasn't responded to grant a cancellation waver!
For the last time we are not requesting a cancellation waver.
The hotel did not honour the booking- we need a full refund of £297
I now have No faith Agoda either understand the issue or are capable of resolving the issue.

A real bad experience with Agoda

Today we arrived at London and we had booked a hotel near to Westfield London 4 weeks ago with received of confirmation email, to our surprised and shocked that the hotel insisted we have to pay in cash as they don't have credit or debit facility. Worse of all, we have to pay another 75GBP as a commission on top of what we had booked at 468GBP. Surely we didn't expect this as we were not prepared with cash and we expecting to pay another 75GBP. Spending and wasting another 20 mins trying to contact Agoda, they told me they couldn't reach out to their booking partner hence they suggested to cancel my booking and I have to book for another hotel by myself. That's it and sorry to me for the unfortunate event. Agoda used to be a trust worthy online hotel booking company. From this event, I can only to conclude that they are no longer the same and it is from bad to worse. Very disappointed and frustrating that now we have to source for another hotel at such a last mins and have to pay for extra due to their faults. Never ever again for Agoda.

I was a long term Agoda user (frequent user for many hotel bookings) but now I extremely unsatisfied with Agoda. The app is no longer trustworthy and often gave excuses for not refunding cancellation. Please stay away from Agoda. I will not use them again. Beware of dates might changes before you book.

Wrong Room with wrong Beds

Booked a Hotel in Busan from 01.05.-08.05.25. Trough Agoda. On their Website their Advertise 2 Single Beds thats what I needed for me and My travel "Buddy". Arriving at the Hotel the hotel never had any single room with 2 single Beds. Contactet the Agoda Support. All they did is trying to give me some useless coins on their website then actually help me. Their chat is totally useless and doesn't help in any way. Disappointed in their service and i will delete my account as soon as possible from their website. They try to blame the Hotel for everything and since we still got a King Size bed it isn't a Inconvenience in their sense for us. But that i travel with someone that isn't comfortable to share Beds they just don't give a f. I can totally understand all negative reviews from here. Never i will use them again and will look if i have any legal possibilities.

Their technical failure cost me over $100

Beware! The message system built into the website & app does not allow hotels to send you external links for online check-in (they block them "for your security"). because of this I couldn't get the link I needed. because of that they hotel forced me to pay for the night anyway even though I couldn't check in. Agoda supported the hotel, no refund, despite it being a failure of their messaging system design. I won't use them ever again. I spent almost 8 hours over 2 days messaging with their customer service team who just couldn't understand the issue - despite it being crystal clear that it's not my fault - and just kept siding with the hotel when it's Agodas issue if anybody's. You could argue the hotel is also responsible because they don't realize that Agoda deletes links in their messages and that they require you to use an online check-in system but I realize that was because there was nobody staffed at the hotel it's a turnkey pin access building that's all automated once you use the online check-in system it sends you everything you need to get into the hotel. But as I've said I never got this because I couldn't get the link because it's deleted by Agoda. Agoda blames it on the hotel, the hotel blames it on them, I'm stuck in the middle and lost over $100.

The worst app ever!! Work like shit!!

I am beyond frustrated with both Agoda for their complete lack of professionalism, refusal to take responsibility, and blatant disregard for their own policies. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered.

Agoda’s Failure to Assist:

Agoda charged me for two bookings, despite my clear understanding that the first one was canceled. When I contacted them, they insisted that the hotel needed to approve the refund. However, despite Agoda confirming that they reached out to the hotel, they refused to cooperate. Agoda’s terms clearly state that cancellations and refunds depend on hotel approval—yet they refuse to take any responsibility or advocate for their customers.
Really disappointing, I will never use them again.

Don’t book through Agoda

I booked a hotel through Agoda for the weekend, and what a disappointment it was when it turned out that Agoda had booked a hotel for children aged 8 and 1, which was only available for kids 10 and up! I found out about this two days before the trip because I asked about a crib for the child in the room. I was disappointed when the lady at the hotel told me that the reservation was made through Booking.com, but it’s impossible to make it without specifying the children’s ages, so Agoda probably lied on my booking, claiming the kids were over 10. The situation ended with us spending the best weekend of March at home, explaining to my 8-year-old son why we couldn’t go to the seaside, which we’d been planning for a month. I’ll never use that garbage service again.
