Cabin crew weren’t friendly or helpful

Cabin crew weren’t friendly or helpful. Food wasn’t great, maybe give alternatives for people who don’t want curry for every meal. Ran out of toilet roll on the flight. Eaten food and they left our trays on the table for 2 hours.
People on the check in desks are painfully slow.
Only offered two drinks on an 11 hour flight. Won’t be flying with air India again.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Air India while traveling from London to Ahmedabad. I requested a baby bassinet seat because I was traveling with an infant, but despite repeated requests, it was very difficult to get proper support from the airline staff.

On top of that, my flights were frequently canceled or changed, which caused a lot of inconvenience for my family. When I tried to contact customer service and make complaints, I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously and I did not receive helpful assistance.

Traveling with a baby is already stressful, and the lack of support from the airline made the situation even worse. I hope Air India improves its customer service, especially for passengers traveling with infants.

Based on my experience, I would be very cautious about choosing this airline in the future.

Customer service does not exist in reality

Air India did nor inform about Lufthansa strike, we had to spend ressources to even find a number to contact AirIndia for rebooking. Via German nr - where we only got through be choosing 1 class option. Agent rerouted flight from Copenhagen to Katmandu via Wiena and Delhi. In spite of various questions about sufficient transfer times, and the agent saying 2 hours in Delhi, we got 1 hour transfer in Delhi as the tickets arrived. Arriving 10.45 = wheels on the ground, then 15-30 minutes to get off the plane. Then 20-60 minutes passing security and at least 15 minutes walk between gates. And this is with hand luggage only.
Departure to Katmandu 11.45. Gates closing for boarding at least 20 minutes before.
We were told 2 hours. AirIndia recommend 60-90 minutes minimum, once in the terminal.
We contacted AirIndia to change the connection from Delhi to Katmandu, as our young daughter is travelling alone for the first time, to make sure she does not need to solve this problem on her own, once arriving in Delhi. 1 agent promised to call back after listening to recordings of yesterday agent. Did not happen. I called again. 1 agent hung up. The next agent keeps referring to Air India policy of 1 Hour between landing and taking off as sufficient. In spite of AirIndia official transfer recommendations. Internet reveal company policy to expand profit. A AirIndia company policy that causes stress, wasted ressources and customer inconvenience.

Worst experience of life on Air India…

My recent experience on Air India flight AI187 from Delhi to Toronto was unfortunately one of the worst long-haul travel experiences I’ve had.

I paid approximately $2000 for a one-way ticket, expecting a reasonable level of comfort and service for a 20-hour journey. Unfortunately, the seat’s LED entertainment screen was not working at all, which made the long flight extremely difficult. In addition, the call remote to contact cabin crew was also not functioning, meaning I had to either wait for someone to pass by or physically get up and go ask for assistance.

During dinner service, I requested a drink and had to wait nearly 30 minutes. When it finally arrived, it was the wrong drink, and by that time my meal had already gone cold.

I want to clarify that I am not mentioning the cabin crew member’s name because I understand that airline staff work hard. However, passengers also work hard to afford these flights, and basic service and functional equipment should be guaranteed.

What was particularly disappointing was that service only improved after I began complaining. Good service should be consistent, not reactive.

To make matters worse, my luggage was missed even though this was a direct flight from Delhi to Toronto.

I hope Air India takes this feedback seriously and works on improving cabin service, equipment maintenance, and baggage handling. Passengers deserve a level of service that reflects the price

Horrendous

Flight delay, missed connection, lost luggage, rude, unhelpful, deny responsibility, don't reply to emails and when they do they refuse compensation. Escalating complaints to higher up does nothing. How on earth does this Airline get away with being allowed to operate. Huge frustration and stress. NEVER EVER fly Air India

Confirmed Confirmed seats, four hours early, and still bumped...five hours of confusion and no clear answers from Air India.

Our experience departing Delhi with Air India was extremely frustrating. After a difficult week of flight disruptions, we arrived at the airport 4 hours ahead of time, expecting to board our confirmed flight with assigned seats only to eventually determine that we had effectively been bumped with no prior notice. What followed was nearly five hours of confusion, going back and forth between multiple Air India service counters with very little information. Staff repeatedly told us there was “an issue with our seats,” but no one could clearly explain what had happened or what our options were. Based on what we later read online, it appeared the flight had been overbooked which happens often with Air India. However, the biggest problem was the lack of transparency and coordination. The communication throughout the process was poor to none, and left passengers trying to piece together what was going on. Eventually we were able to secure an alternative flight, but the experience was unnecessarily chaotic and stressful. When travel disruptions happen, clear communication and proactive assistance make all the difference. Air India failed completely on communication and apparently have an abusive and self-serving over-booking practice

Very bad

I bought a flight from London to Mumbai buy I had to cancel it.

Flight paid £440, got a refund of £232.

It was the first time I booked a flight with this airline, I trusted it was a good one (my bad I should have read the reviews first), but looking at the rating here it seems this is the home of the bad rating.

I won't book anything else with them

Disappointing In-Flight Entertainment Experience - Screens Not Working

I recently flew with Air India and was extremely disappointed with the state of the in-flight entertainment system. The screen at my seat was completely non-functional for the entire duration of my flight.
When I first boarded and settled into my seat, I attempted to turn on the entertainment screen, but it remained black no matter what buttons I pressed. I called a flight attendant who tried to help, but after several attempts to reset it, they informed me that the screen was broken and there was nothing they could do. They mentioned that several other screens in my section were also not working.
For a long-haul flight, having a working entertainment system is essential. Without it, the journey felt incredibly long and tedious. I had to rely solely on my phone, which has a much smaller screen and limited battery life.
What made this more frustrating is that I had specifically chosen Air India partly because of their advertised in-flight entertainment options. The lack of a working screen significantly diminished the value of my ticket.
I understand that technical issues can occur, but the crew seemed unsurprised by the problem, suggesting this is a recurring issue that hasn't been addressed. At minimum, passengers should be informed of non-working amenities before boarding so they can prepare accordingly.
I hope Air India invests in maintaining their aircraft entertainment systems better in the future.

Shocking lack of help for passengers

Unfortunately our flight of March 1st from Delhi to London Heathrow was cancelled only a few hours before departure, due to developing events in the Middle East. The airport was in complete chaos. No-one was taking responsibility for stranded passengers. The few staff at the Air lndia desks were inundated and could not cope. One of 2 phone numbers issued for refunds or rescheduling was invalid. No useful help was given on the other line. No responsibility taken by Air lndia for providing accommodation or food. Staff were incapable or unwilling to reschedule flights. Offered a rescheduled flight on 13 March 2026, so would have been stranded for 12 days, no help provided. Yet, the company were selling tickets for 4th March and beyond, prioritising making money over repatriating stranded passengers. It took 1 and a half hours of negotiation in person ( and after so many rude employees, one person listening to our plight) to obtain tickets for March 4th, a very stressful time.
We do not plan on using Air lndia again.

Absolutely shocking,

Absolutely shocking,, we paid extra for the flights we needed for our convenience and they permanently changed them, leaving us with a 9 hour lay over in New Delhi, and a 22 hour journey. Instead of the 13 hour journey we booked.
There was a serious breach of safety on the flight from Goa to New Delhi, a child was allowed to stand during take off, and a cabin bag was placed on the seat next to me, which then slid off during take off, and trapped me into my seat, if anything had occurred, these issues would have been detrimental to many passengers on board.
I made a complaint in December, i am still trying to communicate with them for a resolution , disgusting customer service all round d

I had a complex combination ticket to cancel. At the end of a very long wait, I was fortunate to get one Mr. Girish online to support my call. He was very meticulous at collecting all the details, applying the rules to work out deductions and informed me the net result. I really appreciate his dedication to work. Unfortunately, I could not record my appreciation anywhere and hence this review.
