The best airline -- including when life gives you lemons

These days, most airlines are the worst. In my experience Air Serbia is a rare exception. When I call their customer service center, their representatives are humane and professional. They know the airline's policies inside and out. They speak good English. And, most important, they follow through with what they say they're going to do.

Their website had some bugs, but I think they may have fixed them by now.

Whenever I need to fly somewhere, the first thing I do is to check and see if Air Serbia flies there.

Bad all around

So basically Air Serbia never was a great company. I can accept their constant delays, shitty food and overpriced flights if I really need to get somewhere fast.
The last time Air Serbia didn't want to allow me on their board. It seems their clerk saw Irish visa the first time in their life. I spent about an hour at registration, proving my eligibility for the visa, my serbian residence etc. I literally had to show on registration all possible papers.

It is impossible to complete online…

It is impossible to complete online check-in solely due to a biased attitude toward your passport. Our countries have a visa-free agreement, yet the online check-in system still requests a visa. Consequently, I am forced to travel to the airport every single time just to check in.

Probably the worst airline in the world!!!

Worst airline in the world✅
The worst airline staff worldwide ✅
This airline operates based on three pillars:
Unprofessional behavior ✅
Rudeness and sarcastic attitude towards passengers ✅
And an attempt to make your life difficult rather than being willing to help ✅
Instead of flying with Air Serbia, it's better to walk to your destination!!!

The flight was delayed

The flight was delayed, and even though we made it on time for our connection flight, they had already rebooked us for the next day. Communication was poor, we spend couple of hours in the airport as the staff did not seem to know what they were doing, and our claims have been ignored for 4 months - no response.

Worst airline I’ve ever dealt with

Worst airline I’ve ever dealt with. Endless unexplained delays, then canceled my 6 PM flight and dumped it to 7 AM next day. Woke up at 4 AM, got to the airport… surprise - they silently pushed it to 8 AM overnight. Now delayed again to 8:40. I’m already drained and haven’t even boarded. Never flying them again. Avoid at all costs.

Delayed Baggage, Damage, Missing Items and No Response from Air Serbia

My recent experience with Air Serbia was extremely disappointing. On flight JU500 from Belgrade to New York, my checked suitcase did not arrive and was delivered several days later to my home. During that time I had to purchase essential items and submitted receipts for reimbursement, but I have received no response. When the bag finally arrived, it was severely damaged and items were missing from inside the suitcase, with no notice that the bag had been opened or inspected.

What makes this worse is the complete lack of communication afterward. Despite contacting both the airport handling agent and Air Serbia directly, I have received no meaningful assistance.

In addition, during the flight I observed cabin crew treating several passengers in a dismissive and impatient manner, including visible eye-rolling and frustration. While this was not directed at me personally, it contributed to an uncomfortable and unprofessional atmosphere.

Delays can happen in aviation, but the way this situation has been handled has been very disappointing.

Repeated baggage handling problem on interline flights

I have now had the same negative experience twice when checking in at the Nikola Tesla Air Serbia counter, travelling with Air Serbia on an interline itinerary from Belgrade to Juba (BEG–FRA-ADD-JUB and BEG-FCO–ADD–JUB), and unfortunately, it appears to be a recurring issue rather than an isolated mistake.

Both trips were booked on a single ticket under one booking reference, connecting to Ethiopian Airlines. Despite this, Air Serbia check-in staff in Belgrade tagged my baggage only to Addis Ababa instead of the final destination, Juba. Ethiopian Airlines later confirmed that baggage on this type of itinerary should normally be checked through to the final destination under the interline agreement.

Because of this decision at the check-in, my luggage did not transfer automatically in Addis Ababa and arrived in Juba two days late, on both occasions. After a long international journey to a destination with limited flight frequency, arriving without luggage is not merely an inconvenience but a serious disruption.

What is particularly frustrating is that this happened twice on different routes, suggesting a systematic problem or local practice rather than a one-time oversight. Passengers travelling on a single-ticket connection should not have to worry about whether their baggage will be handled correctly.

While the flights themselves were acceptable and the cabin crew professional, the baggage handling experience in Belgrade significantly undermined confidence in the overall service. Air Serbia should review its interline baggage procedures and ensure consistent handling aligned with partner airlines, as repeated baggage delays create unnecessary stress and negatively impact the customer experience.

Their customer service is a joke!!

I needed to fly from Skopje, Macedonia to Podgorica, Montenegro a distance just 330 km. Yet Air Serbia takes you first north all the way to Belgrade then flies back and goes to Podgorica. All this just to charge you an extra cash! I paid $203 CAD, plus they charged me 70 euros for one checked in suitcase within the allowed weight. This was the most expensive charge I have ever paid anywhere else!!
The worst thing was their customer service. Upon paying a luggage fee, they told me that my Visa rejected the charge. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my Visa however, as I later checked with my bank. Most likely it was their payment terminal malfunctioning, or they didn’t know how to use it properly. After couple of attempts they said I couldn’t board the plane and fly. They did nothing to help me out and resolve the situation in some other working way. Instead they started blaming and gaslighting me, as well as humiliating and condescending. They showed neither respect, nor curtesy to the fact that I was a senior of 70 yrs. They acted so immature and disrespectful to me as a customer with the prepaid ticket, that I felt embarrassed and disgusted for their not only immature and unprofessional attitude, but as for human beings. Instead of processing payment manually, they were yelling at me saying “what do you want us to do, pay out of our pocket”.
At the end I felt how my blood pressure rose and I felt pain in my heart area!

Air Serbia’s attitude is not customer service focused, plus I could see the remnants of the old communist attitude in dealing with people when no one cared about anyone or was willing to help!
With such attitude, I hope, they would never be accepted into the EU, they are so desperately longing for.
I will avoid this company at all cost and don’t recommend anyone to deal with them until they develop a caring and professional attitude!!
SHAME ON YOU AIR SERBIA!!! 👎👎🤮

Never fly with this company

If I can, I would give -10 score!
This was one of the most stressful and disappointing travel experiences of my life.

We were traveling urgently to Serbia because my son was hospitalized. At the airport in Copenhagen, it turned out that Air Serbia had a valid ticket for my husband, but not for me, even though the booking and payment were made correctly. Because of this error, I was denied boarding.

As a result, I was stuck at the Copenhagen airport for 12 hours, under extreme emotional distress, waiting to be sent back on the next available flight — while trying to reach my seriously ill child.

What makes this situation even worse is that the money for my ticket was still taken from my bank account, despite the fact that I was not allowed to fly and the issue was clearly not caused by me.

No clear explanation, no immediate assistance, and no compassion were offered in a situation that was already extremely difficult.

I expect:
• A full refund
• A proper explanation of how this happened
• Accountability for the lack of support in an emergency situation

I truly hope Air Serbia improves its handling of urgent cases and basic ticketing responsibility, because no passenger should go through this — especially when a child’s health is involved.

@airserbia I am extremely disappointed…

@airserbia I am extremely disappointed with the way my situation has been handled.

My flight has been rescheduled multiple times over THREE DAYS, leaving me stranded at the airport with no proper assistance. I contacted support several times and was told to arrange accommodation myself, with no guarantee of reimbursement.

I had no money to pay for a hotel and was forced to stay overnight in the airport without any support. This is completely unacceptable and does not meet basic passenger care standards.

Passengers should not be left in this situation, especially for multiple days without clear solutions or assistance.

I expect immediate attention to this issue and a proper resolution.

Paid for additional services, denied on board

I tried to book additional services: baggage + seat selection.

First time got charged but the website crashed and the ticket didn’t update.

Second time I called and booked it over the phone and confirmed my seat selection.

During boarding, I got denied my seat because a family was assigned to three of the seats in the same row and they need to give the child my seat. Keep in mind that they didn’t pay for the seats, they got assigned randomly.

I have tried contacting their customer support for a refund but to no avail.

I know this might sound like I am whining but when I booked my seat days in advance it is not my fault that a family didn’t not think to do the same.

14 hrs delay, claim 32383 from 2 December 2025, no answer, today is 20 February 2026, if you call them by phone they told you that they can't discuss it on a phone line, so it is like a vicious circle ⭕

If I could I would put 0 stars!

If I could I would put 0 stars!
Worst airline and customer service. Paid for business class package that allows me to change flights tax free whenever I want if it's not 2-5 days prior to flight date.
I called 1 month in advance and I went on their webpage and it says 180$ addutuional taxes. I thought it must be some mistake so I called them.
Had to wait 30+minutes for the operator to answer and once they did, they told me that it's 360$ addition ..
Last two times I gave them a chance, one time I had situation where the monitor didn't work (thank God I brought a book with me), and last time my chair wouldn't go to a horizontal position for me to sleep and that's the main thing I paid extra money for!
All and all...really dissapointing, I will never use this agency again and strongly recomend no one else does unless you really need to!

Scammers

Bought return flights. Had to cancel my outbound due to a family emergency, only to be told that they are unable to help as my fiancée and I are not yet married..and my return flight would be cancelled if I cannot make the outbound. Purchased a new outbound and the same return flight. Showed up to check-in for my return flight home, and was told I have two bookings, so in fact, my original return was not cancelled. Awful service, avoid.

Never again

Never, ever would I recommend Air Serbia to anyone – not even my worst enemy. My flight on 2 January 2026 from Prague to Athens was the worst airline experience of my life, both regarding the flight itself and the customer service that followed.

✅ The Flight:

Delay, rerouting, and chaos during the connection – an absolute nightmare.

Throughout the entire ordeal, the airline left me completely on my own, with no support, no explanations, and no guidance.

✅ Customer Support:

The height of unprofessionalism. Even though I received daily read-receipts confirming they had read my emails, I never received a meaningful response until weeks later.

The replies I did get were entirely copy-paste templates, ignoring all evidence and facts I submitted.

Agents were arrogant, unhelpful, and non-communicative, giving me the impression that their main goal was to exhaust me and roll their eyes.

✅ Damaged Baggage:

I submitted photos and all supporting documentation immediately after landing, yet I was denied compensation because, allegedly, I didn’t have a Damage Property Report (DPR) – which I physically could not obtain due to being redirected to a hotel at 3 AM following the flight delay.

The airline insists that internal procedures override international passenger rights, which is absurd and completely unacceptable.

This entire experience cost me time, energy, and money, and I was left entirely unsupported at every step.

💡 Conclusion:
If you want to be ignored, forced to solve problems on your own, and pay extra for the airline’s mistakes, then Air Serbia is your choice. If you want professionalism, fairness, or basic respect as a passenger, run in the opposite direction.

Air Serbia has permanently lost any trust from me. This flight and the handling of my claim were so catastrophic that I will never use their services again, and I will never recommend them to anyone.

SCAMMERS!

I had a flight scheduled on the 4th of January that they cancelled due to weather conditions and they are hiding behind the fact that I booked the flight through Booking.com and they have refunded them the money already but Booking.com says the opposite and instead of providing proof of payment, AirSerbia stopped replying inquiries and emails.
They are a bunch of thieves. AVOID!!!

Fraud problem with air serbias website

Worst airline. My father works at an airport in serbia and air serbias website is horrible, air serbia only lets family members go with the airline.
Well…………………people have found a loophole,.
People can buy tickets from air serbia and giving them to their friends or selling them to get money.
Once the fraud problem is fixed, you can buy tickets from air serbias website.
Disclamer: Dont do fraud in airports when buying tickets……or else you can get banned for years.

No response to compensation request in a month almost

I missed my connected flight to Gothenburg due to delay. Since there was an amazingly long queue, I bought my new flight ticket from Belgrade to Sweden myself. Therefore I applied AirSerbia to compensate that expense but I have not received any response yet. Terrible experience in all aspects.
