We’ve ordered their curries a couple of times now for a special occasion and it never fails to impress. The curries are delicious, well portioned and plenty of meat / prawn / paneer in each of the dishes we ordered. A massive step up from local takeaways and good value too

At first glance this does look like one of the more expensive meal boxes out there but the portion sizes are really good. I've ordered from Gusto, Simmer, Frive and Hello Fresh and been pretty appalled at what they think is an appropriate meal size. Also, this is from a Michelin starred chef!! I couldn't believe how tasty it all was. 10 meals in our box, 4 large rotis. It's better than all of the takeaways serving similar style foods in my area.

Wonderful food with great service. Arrived exactly on time, perfectly frozen ready to drop into the freezer.

Very nervous to read about changes to how curries are frozen but my regular delivery has just arrived after being two days in transit. All curries properly frozen and all went directly into my freezer. Well packed, as always, delivery on time. Portion sizes are always generous and taste delicious.

There are conflicting elements to Aktar meals/service, some are good whilst others not so good.

Good:
the meals are a good quality
well packaged
good portion size

Not so good:
unable to select curries when choosing the multiple meals in a box option
dhal makni was more like a thick soup
naan breads were flat/thin i.e disappointing
overly spiced, requiring yogurt to tame the heat

Overall:
Disappointed. We still have meals in the freezer, but, sadly, not planning to eat them! Consequently, will not be ordering again, nor recommending to friends.

Amazing food. Generous portions. Arrived on time. Even the nans travel well. On opening the box, it did "feel" a bit like I had bought a ready meal from the supermarket. But I soon got over that. I would rather buy and cook this when I want it than order a take away. One thing I would do is make oven heating simpler. Perhaps make the container oven proof. Still 5 stars for the food alone.

This was some of the best Indian food that I have ever tasted. The flavours were first class and such good portion sizes as well. No problem with the delivery. I did have a payment query which Customer Services quickly resolved. I shall have no hesitation in reordering.

Large order meant for the freezer, meant to arrive today. Now delayed by dhl....customer service sarcastic and unhelpful. Paid £10.00 delivery for designated day. Will not order again.

I’m astonished that Aktar hasn’t an average of 5stars. We’ve ordered food several times now, including the famous leg of lamb, and can only say how wonderful it has all been. Subtle flavours; generous portions; we’d rate it outstanding in every way.

Cannot recommend his dine at home meals highly enough we have purchased quite a few now .

I ordered the lamb for New Years Eve and arranged for it to be delivered on 30th as per their recommendation (to have it delivered the day before required). It was delayed and delivered on New Years Eve. The leg of lamb was frozen solid and would not defrost in time for the party on New Years Eve which ruined the evening. I contacted the company and they couldn’t have cared less - they advised at 5pm to put it in water to try and defrost it and hoped I had a good night! Appalling customer service and will never purchase from them again.

I have been trying for several weeks to buy 2 gift vouchers. Link doesn’t work and inspire of several emails ( there is no phone no) I have had no reply. So unfortunately Aktar you have lost several large orders. We won’t be ordering

I ordered the mini curry box for my husband's birthday meal - I noted that they state that they aim for the delivery on the date requested but occasionally might be the next day so deliberately ordered it for the day before.. It is the day after the delivery was meant to come now at 620pm and still hasn't arrived. I have been in touch with the company and the couriers with no joy at all. Even more frustrating as only an email address. I have now had to scramble something together for my husband's birthday meal instead which is very disappointing for him and for all of us when we had been looking forward to this. Not the standard I would expect from this chef and his company.

Quality and taste much lower than it was.
Too hot grisly meat just not the same as they were. Will not be ordering again unless I read they have gone back to how they use to be. Disappointed would not serve to friends again or eat myself

I ordered the mini curry box for 3 of us so we could all try a bit of each and we were not disappointed, they were all amazing, the 3 meat dishes were packed full of either lamb, chicken or beef, the rice was fluffy and the naan bread was delicious, we will definitely be ordering again. We also had no problems with our delivery, it arrived on the day it said it would.

This was our first time ordering from Aktar@Home, and we couldn’t be more impressed. The food, service, and customer care were all excellent from start to finish. They responded promptly to our emails.

We were given a £50 gift voucher from our niece, which introduced us to the company, and after a small issue with the delivery arriving later than requested (the following day, which was not a fault of the company, but the courier company, not ideal as I was not home), the team responded promptly and professionally, even offering a goodwill voucher as an apology. It’s rare to find a business that takes customer satisfaction so seriously, and their response really stood out.

We ordered four curries which were reasonably priced for fresh products being homemade dishes.

• Chicken Madras
• Prawn Pathia (NEW DISH)
• Keralan Beef Curry
• Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani

Every dish was absolutely delicious and each dish portion size was perfect for two people.

The Prawn Pathia and Keralan Beef Curry had a lovely warmth and depth of flavour, a perfect balance of heat and spice, while the Madras and Biryani were rich, aromatic, and full of flavour. Each dish was generous, with plenty of meat or prawns, and everything tasted fresh and authentic.

The quality easily rivals (if not surpasses) our usual takeaway, and we’ve already decided that Aktar@Home will be our new go-to for curry nights.

Historically a frequent purchaser. This time a disaster. Ordered 5 dishes, including 3 new ones. On the day of delivery it was due to arrive 18:00-19:00. Never showed-up. Contacted AAH the following day who in turn contacted DHL. It took hours to get any response from AAH. Then a fairytale about the problem with delivery. The items have still not arrived by late the following day.

AAH will blame DHL and that they are at the mercy of the couriers, but they are responsible for the goods until in your hands. The customer service has been slack and lacking in focus. Check out the other reviews on the problems with delivery if you don’t believe this one. Make your own decision but they have certainly lost me as a customer.

We’re regular buyers and find the food excellent value for what you get, never been disappointed with a meal.
Our last order was due to be delivered on the Tuesday and although we were informed the order was out for delivery it never arrived. At 4pm I received a text to say it had been returned to the depot and would be delivered the next day. I received a text saying delivery between 11 and 12 but no show, it eventually arrived at 5pm. We were concerned that the food would be defrosted but fortunately it wasn’t due to the packaging. I informed Aktar of the issues and they were responsive and proactive, very impressed.

Although there was an issue it was resolved immediately following an email & although we haven’t yet tried all the curries we cannot fault customer services. Looking forward to the new dishes. Won’t hesitate to order again.

We ordered our own varied selection of meat curries and rice. We particularly liked the lamb curries but all were lovely. Good portions, easy to prepare. Highly recommend. We have some fantastic curry restaurants and takeaways in our area and these compare well. Also very reasonably priced for the quality.
The only pitfall was in regard to the delivery agent, who delivered a day late, please be aware when ordering. The food was still cool as packed well.
