A great experience from start to finish! Really professional, made me feel incredibly at ease, communication was excellent and support during after care was very reassuring. Would highly recommend anyone using Moorfields and Mr Day in particular, to have their laser eye surgery. I’m really delighted with the result.

I was an 'outsider' case for LASIK treatment (long sighted with +2.75 / +4, including lazy eye and astigmatism) and came to Alex at Moorfields for an initial consultation just to find out if I was even a potential candidate, after several friends and family had had successful laser eye surgery.

Alex was kind, careful and thoughtful from the beginning, treated me with the greatest respect as a person and a patient, and provided detailed insight and professional recommendations which provided me with the rigorous information that I needed in order to make the right decision for me.

He clearly explained what the risks were, how the procedure would work, the precise ways in which that might present certain risks, and what those risk levels were, which helped me feel confident going into surgery.

The tests beforehand and the surgery were done efficiently, professionally and rigorously, and every step was explained to me.

My recovery was straightforward and rapid.

A particular thanks also to his team, including Aurelia, who were friendly, kind and professional from start to finish.

Pros: In my initial assessment with Mr Day, he advised that I was suited for transPRK to treat myopia and high astigmatism. I did have an initial assessment with a different clinic for Lasik, but chose to go with Mr Day because he was very professional and thorough in explaining the procedure. The other clinic did not mention transPRK at all and also pressured me into committing to the surgery immediately, which I did not appreciate.

With Mr Day and his team, I felt reassured going into the surgery that they had taken great care with the preparation and it would go smoothly, which it did. I now have 6/5 unaided vision in both eyes (better than 20/20) and did not have any complications whatsoever during recovery and the following 15 months. The results have been life-changing and I no longer have to worry about my eyesight at all, which is unbelievable to me!

Cons: I experienced long waiting times whenever I had an afternoon/evening appointment at the clinic. The aftercare details (what and how much medication to take) was explained to me on the day of the surgery, a bit too quickly and some of it was after the procedure when I was feeling groggy and not able to understand it properly. I was surprised by how painful the first 2 days of recovery were, and would not have managed to take care of myself (food/bathroom/medication) if it hadn't been for my partner. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I would have preferred to have more realistic expectations for the first couple of days. However, things did improve significantly each day, and by day 3, I was already more bored than in pain.

Overall, I am rating my experience with Mr Day and his team 5 stars because it was 100% worth it for such a fantastic result. I have not regretted my decision for one second and would recommend his service to anyone else.

I had multi lens replacement surgery in February 2023. I am more than happy with the results. From initial consultation to discharge Alex Day demonstrated considerable knowledge and expertise. Information was given verbally, through computer generation and through handouts to ensure complete understanding of the process, expectations and post op care. The surgery took place Saturday morning and Alex telephoned me Sunday evening to discuss my recovery thus far.
Aurelia his personal assistant was also attentive and very helpful throughout the whole process. The whole team were friendly and efficient.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to mr day. After 50 years of wearing contact lenses I had lens exchange cataract surgery and I now have 20 20 vision and can read fine print. The procedure was comfortable and problem free. I am 73 years old and deaf. Mr day was patient and explained everything with clarity. I would highly recommend him. A very good experience, and thrilled with the results. Alex was reassuring throughout, both in term of his very thorough preparation and calm communication during the procedure itself. If anyone decides LASIK is the right plan for them, then I would highly recommend Alex.

When my sight deteriorated as a result of cataracts, I thought very hard about whether to have surgery as I had real concerns about any kind of invasive surgery on my eyes and the possible risks
However, my experience of both Mr Alex Day, his team and Moorfields Private Hospital has been excellent. Every step of the process was explained and by the time I had both my surgeries in Sept/Oct 2022, I was very comfortable and found the whole process undaunting.

I had quite a high prescription of -19 and -11 with astigmatism in both eyes and had been contemplating lens replacement surgery for some time but was quite nervous about it. From the moment I contacted Mr Day’s practice to my final appointment I felt well looked after and fully informed.

Aurelia, Mr Day’s Pactice Manager was excellent. Efficient and kind, managing to work all my appointments and surgeries around by personal plans.

At my first consult, Mr Day explained everything very clearly and concisely: including details of the procedure; how it should feel; what results to expect vision wise; and after care requirements. After the consult I felt very confident moving forward with the surgeries.

The day of each surgery went very smoothly with no surprises. Everything being exactly as explained. All the staff involved made be feel very comfortable and relaxed. Mr Day talked me through the procedure as it happened, which I found very reassuring.

I now have 20/20 vision which I never thought possible. No more contact lenses for me! I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Day and his team - they are amazing.

I have just had my final appointment with Dr Day at the Moorfields eye clinic just off Harley Street. The conclusion was that I now have better than 20/20 vision, and therefore won’t have to wear glasses for the next couple of decades at least. Bearing in mind that I was unable to wear contact lenses due to a phobia of things touching my eyes, and was told by a nurse at Specsavers that this disqualified me from laser treatment, this is a great end result.

Not only did the outcome exceed my expectations, so too did the service received from the team at Moorfields. Appointments were scheduled at my convenience, wait times were minimal and at all stages of the process there was someone on hand to answer questions. Particular credit to Dr Day who made the procedure itself completely bearable - with LASEK, it honestly is just 60 seconds lying down and looking at a light.

There is a lot of misinformation about laser eye treatment going round - if you’re in two minds (as I was), I would strongly recommend booking in for a consultation so that you can make a decision on the basis of reliable information.

The only thing that was slightly unexpected for me was the severity of the recovery process - if your experience is anything like mine, you will need someone on hand for at least 3-4 days to help administer the prescribed eye drops. The first few days aren’t easy-going but in my view it could have been a lot worse and would still have been easily worth it.
