I called alliance in Galway university…

I called alliance in Galway university hospital the women on the phone was the ignorant person I have ever spoken to 😡 I only wanted to ask if I could get a disc for my husband scan as he needed it for an upcoming operation firstly she wouldn’t speak to me I put my husband on to say it was ok to speak to me she just talked over us both wouldn’t give us a chance to speak, I can’t believe someone so rude is answering the phone to patients she was also the same person who was there a few weeks before when I came in for a brain scan & wouldn’t let my husband stay with me even though he’s my carer & im disabled cause I keep passing out, we explained this to her but we might as well be speaking in another language terrible service 🤬🤬🤬

Got mri done recently

Got mri done recently. It was my gallbladder i was concerned about so were doctors. Waiting for ultrasound trough nhs was too long. £350 wasted. Report came back clear ( no stones). 2 months in agony on strong painkillers, felt something wasnt right. Flew to Poland, ultrasound done to find out gallbladder full of microstones. Emergency surgery booked too. How could that be missed?

Appalling service

Appalling service. Alliance Medical needs a thorough investigation on its services. Fails to provide access to client scans. Radiologist reports inadequate resulting in life changing misdiagnosis. No complaints procedure. Impossible to get hold of anyone. IT Support incompetent. Absolute disgrace given the cost of the scans. I am really concerned that because it is so difficult to obtain the actual scans many clients will be relying on the radiologist report but as shown in my case, the report was inadequate and inaccurate.

Lack of communication in a professional way and lack of consistency in their reply

The staff at front desk needs to improve communication with patients. Should take a communication training.
Three staff giving me three different answers in a face to face conversation about an x-ray result that took place in the waiting area. In the end, after beeing told i would obtain the cd of my x-ray, instead i was given a note by the third staff member which had a phone number on it of a department that i should contact.

Alliance Medical Smithfield…

My appointment was at Alliance Medical Smithfield. From the receptionist to registrar to the scan team, I found all the staff extremely professional and friendly. The MRI machine had a mirror just over my eyes pointing outwards, giving me a view of the room, so even thought I'm extremely claustrophobic, I had no nervous moments as It gave the illusion of just lying in a room. Thank you to all the staff.

Shockingly poor

Truly awful service.

My surgeon (Professor of Neurology) sent an MRI with contrast request. Having NOT heard from Alliance Medical I called them(took 6-7 calls before I got an answer). I was told yes, that the request was there but to call back again in a few days to book myself in (there was no offer of them contacting me at all ), still can’t understand why I wasn’t booked in at that time.

Called a few days later (again took forever to get an answer) and was told the MRI tech has stated that I don’t require contrast on my MRI and that I was to be booked in for a standard MRI. I explained that my surgeon specifically asked for contrast and I also explained my medical history(I’m post surgery and have screws and rods in my spine) but was told it’s ‘policy, and contrast is only provided if you have had a disectomy’ (I know that this is not correct, as I’ve always required contrast due to my specific history).

But It was them telling me ‘if your Surgeon wants contrast he’s going to have to contact us and explain exactly why’, that was truly unbelievable.
I was astonished that an MRI operator(who had no knowledge of the patient or history) had the authority (covered by their policy) to over rule a surgeon, suffice to say I’ve gone elsewhere for my scan, and also had Alliance Medical removed from my file as somewhere I’m will to go for a scan.

If you have no other choice than to have your scan done here, triple check you are actually getting what you Medical professional has requested and not what their tech thought you needed.

Shockingly bad service

Shockingly bad service. Arrived 10 mins early for form filling as requested by Alliance. Was asked to pay and not advised of a delay. 25 mins after scan was due to start, I asked what was the issue advising I could only run over by half an hour. Told there was delay and my scan would start 35 mins late. After the 35 min wait, I was shown to a tiny changing room the floor of which was dirty with human hair. I had no need to change it was simply to secure my belongings in a locker. Radiographer advised he would return in “a couple of minutes”. 15 minutes later I could still hear the MRI still running with another patient on it. I could not wait any longer and had to leave asking for a refund which has still not been provided. During the 50 min wait there was no water (empty), no TV, no magazines. The staff made no effort to be honest about the real wait time. If they had, I would have simply re-booked on arrival. They were quick to phone to secure the original booking but clearly couldn’t be bothered to phone on the day (appointment at 3:55pm so they had time) to advise of a backlog and re-book me. I left with the distinct impression that their main objective was to fill the MRI capacity to the maximum level and inconveniencing their customers was not important to them. Shoddy, unprofessional and ill-mannered. Alliance Medical should realise this is private healthcare and not the NHS. We are paying customers and not patients.
Two hours out of my life, a gallon of diesel and no scan. I will never be back and if you value your time have a think before booking.

Very poor follow up

As a patient I expect at the very least the company can organise my results to be sent to my specialist. When I was contacted by my specialist secretary to say they needed to see my scan prior to my operation in a week's time, I immediately rang alliance medical to enquire why it wasn't sent. I was told (quite authoritively) it was sent by post but wasn't received for some reason. I said, ok but can you please email it to the secretary as it is now urgent and I didn't want to miss my operation , I was told yes. I received an email confirming it was sent by post originally but no confirmation that it was now e-mailed. I replied asking if it was now e-mailed but heard nothing, (in fact when I said I phoned and emailed , I was told oh sure it could take days to see an emaile) .To speed things up , the next day I dropped the cd disc over to my specialist, (quite a distance), only to be told they still hadn't received the email. I called alliance medical again and Rebecca sent it it two seconds. I understand things can get missed , lost , whatever but it's stressful enough having to go for an operation but to have to micro manage what's supposed to be a professional company, just so they do what in my mind is a very simple job of making sure my scan gets to the end destination without causing the patient added stress. I'm so disgusted at this company and but not surprised as there isn't much choice available for CT scans. Unfortunately it seems to be the norm in dealing with many companies now, that forget that it's the likes of my private insurance that pays their salary. I gave a one star because Rebecca was so good and efficient in helping me and she didn't focus on being right like the first lady( can't remember her name). Not sure if this review will make a blind bit of a difference but if a manager in alliance medical does care, I'm open to discussing it, not holding my breath .
