A perfidious hawker of poor quality…

A perfidious hawker of poor quality products - They remove honest reviews from their website.

I originally left an honest product review on the altbatteries.co.uk website, explaining my personal experience, however 6 weeks later I noticed that my reviews had been removed.

I bought a 50.4V 4A 12S Lithium Battery Charger - for 44.4V Li-ion/LiPo battery pack the on 16 Jun 2023 and by April 6 2024 it had stopped working. As my e-bike was not used very much over the winter period, the charger had only been used around 30 times in total. The charger developed a fault where the led pulses green and it does not charge. there is some voltage when tested with a voltmeter but it is well below the voltage required to charge my battery.

I emailed the altbatteries.co.uk and I got a reply that said "They are made in China and any charger that has issues must be investigated thoroughly before having a replacement sent over, or even posted back which is very expensive. If possible please send me a short video and I forward it to the manufacturer to see if there is anything we can do about this."

I sent a video along as instructed and waited to hear back. After two weeks and no further update from altbatteries.co.uk, I emailed them again to ask if there had been any progress and I received this message, within minutes: "The supplier said that in most cases that is a fault due to short-circuits in the system where the charger has been used."

After such a disappointing experience I looked to find a replacement and found what looks to be an identical charger on Ali Express for considerably less money and with a 1 year warranty (this extra warranty alone would have made buying it from Ali Express a better option).

I ended up buying a much better 5A charger with an LED Display on Ali Express and it was delivered within 1 week. This also has 1 year warranty.

I left an honest review of my experience on the altbatteries.co.uk website and it was initially published. However within 6 weeks my review had been removed and was not to be found on the altbatteries.co.uk website. I emailed the company to ask if my review had violated any guidelines and I am still waiting to get a reply.

I think that this company is not to be trusted. They are selling products that are unreliable and the warranty period is half that which is being offered by the Chinese manufacturers. They are also removing any reviews from their website that they disagree with rather than dealing with the issues in a professional manner.
