DO NOT USE AmazonFresh

DO NOT USE AmazonFresh - would give them 0 stars if I could! They are the worst most unreliable grocery service. 3 of our last 4 orders were cancelled with no explanation or notice! Each time the order is "packed and ready" and then never shows up and is "delayed" and then cancelled. What's more frustrating is the service provided by Amazon is just terrible - no one can help you/do anything/all pass the buck. They do not help with the issue one bit, and on top of it it's obvious they don't care/we're just a number. If you do try to re-schedule/re-order many items are then not available, only adding to the frustration. Changing to Safeway.com from now on - NEVER AGAIN will we use AmazonFresh. Save yourself the time and frustration and DO NOT USE AmazonFresh - you'll regret it!

When customers talk to a wall, Amazon is ripe for breakup

I have appealed to Amazon Prime grocery delivery customer service several times to enable two-way communication between the buyer and the shopper who picks up groceries at Whole Foods on their behalf. After all, the shopper can text the buyer – why not the other way around? There are many situations when communicating with the shopper can allow buyers explain their preferences or suggest alternatives, rather than leaving it to the shoppers’ decision. Many other buyers encounter the same situation daily, no doubt. Despite multiple attempts to bring about this improvement in service over several months, I found that my pleas fell on deaf ears. Apparently, Amazon is too huge and powerful to care what individual customers think. Is there more alarming evidence that it’s time to breakup Amazon?

Placed an order for a 3-5 pm delivery…

Placed an order for a 3-5 pm delivery slot to be ready for the evening's dinner. At 5:30 pm when still no delivery we contacted Amazon support who apologised, but still claimed the order was on its way. Now it has gone past 10:30 pm, but the order still has not arrived. Arrogant support staff still can't confirm if the order will arrive and offering a £5 gift voucher for the inconvenience. Needless to say, we will use another food delivery service in the future.

ROTTEN PRODUCE - It's a Constant Problem!

Every single time I order from Amazon Fresh, I receive rotten produce. Yesterday, 10/11/2021 - Ordered 1 head of Romaine Lettuce, Baby Bella Mushrooms and two oranges. All three items were rotten. Nothing could be salvaged. The amazon employee that picked out these items should be fired; the quality control manager at the fulfillment center that allowed for these items to be on a shelf to then be passed on to consumers needs to be fired. There's no one you can complain to at Amazon - they couldn't give a rats a...

Terrible and unreliable

Terrible and unreliable. I've placed at least 4 orders over the last few months and there have been issues with 3/4 of those orders. One was canceled without explanation, others had missing items and there was one that was almost 2 hours late. The Fresh app sucks and the website isn't the easiest to maneuver as a user. There are often issues trying to get time slots due to high traffic and customer service is useless- all they'll do is issue a refund. There is a link for you to call the driver but good luck! More than once the driver didn't even pick up my call. So many issues and none of this is consumer friendly- I'll go back to other grocery delivery systems that are grounded in customer service and consistency.

Tired of Amazon and now Amazon Fresh FAILING

I ordered 37 items on Amazon Fresh, and all they're sending are tomatoes?!? Spoke with customer service and they told me to wait 48 hours and I can "Cancel the order." As far as they're concerned, the darn tomatoes will be delivered today. Just TOMATOES! Amazon Fresh, REALLY?

Worst service ever, 1st and last order.

I was first supposed to receive an order between 7pm and 9pm. At 9:15pm the app just showed "delayed" with no detail.
When you talk about fresh food like meat, fish you can't leave people like that, they are pending to put the food in the fridge. I called the customer service, the guy had no detail and couldn't get any so his best solution was that I wait and see one more 1hr without guarantee. I had sleep early so I couldn't be waiting until 10pm then maybe 11pm... With no information. The guy became aggressive, basically telling that he didn't understand my problem and making me feel like a dumb.
Then on the chat they told me "it will be delivered before midnight". No way so I asked to cancel it. They didn't want to cancel it saying it was too late. Surprising from Amazon...
So eventually I could reschedule to following day after 1hr lost on call chats etc.
Then they told some articles were not available, then more article not available...
The order never arrived, I received an email saying it was delivered the app showing it wasn't, I mean SUCH A MESS!!! After this lost time and energy I had no food and had to take the car to the regular grocery store.

Wilted and bruised produce

I got a bunch of wilted and bruised produce from them. These are items no one would ever buy for themselves, but since they're just shopping for other people, they don't care.

Worth It but Not Perfect

PROS:

- Service was on time, every time (within a 2-hour window that I selected).

- Cold and frozen items were wrapped in absorbable padding (and frozen gel packs were used with all frozen items). The cold/frozen food care taken with packaging is much better than I could do myself while grocery shopping.

- Delivery drivers are courteous, professional, and polite. I've never encountered a jerk. They have all gone above and beyond when it came to my deliveries (even helping to bring bags inside for me).

- Amazon Fresh is a Godsend for those with mobility issues. Seniors, disabled folks, those with small children at home that can't run to the grocery store may be helped considerably with Amazon Fresh.

- Anyone with an EBT card (in my case, a Cal Fresh card) can pay for food with EBT (not so with other food delivery services). And anyone with a valid EBT card has a discounted Amazon Prime rate of $5.99 (vs. full price of $12.99 monthly) - which includes Prime video, Prime 2-day shipping, and Prime food delivery.

- Yes, they do sell out of certain items but I have always been notified via email immediately and a refund has been promptly processed without having to contact them. I’ve noticed more sold-out items when placing an order later in the day – early morning is best.

CONS:

- As with all food delivery services, you can't select your own produce which may translate into rock-hard, unripe avocados, unappetizing, woody asparagus, over-ripe bananas, mushy and bruised tomatoes, etc. Had I been shopping myself, I would have passed on the produce that was delivered about half the time. You also can't peruse the expiration dates on dairy (or anything else). I believe it is possible to add delivery notes and/or call Amazon customer service and ask to be connected to Fresh (or use Fresh online chat) to make requests but it isn't like you could say "...if the avocados aren't ripe, then skip it and process a refund"... They aren’t personal shopping assistants – it’s just Amazon Fresh!

- The price for 3 large bananas via Fresh is the same as 2 bunches of 8+ bananas at Ralph's, Costco, or Vons markets. The cost of a minuscule bit of fresh chives, cilantro, parsley (or any fresh herbs) via Fresh is the same as 2 gigantic bunches at other grocery stores.

- Family sizes are few and far between in my experience in the Amazon Fresh world. Everything is the smaller size (ketchup, mayo, cereal, tortilla chips, butter, cans of beans or soup, etc.) but the prices are the same or higher than in a regular grocery store. 4 sticks of butter at Ralphs costs the same as 2 sticks of lesser-quality butter via Amazon Fresh. 1/2 gallon of 2% milk costs the same as a full gallon at Ralph's. If you have ever been to a Dollar store (99¢, Dollar Tree, etc.) you will get the idea - most items are smaller than what one would see in a "regular" grocery store. I did find some "family size" frozen foods (e.g. lasagne, Banquet turkey, Tater Tots, etc.)

- Every item is smaller than what I would have purchased, had I been grocery shopping myself. I prefer to buy jumbo/”family” sizes because they are always more economical. And the cost per item via Fresh is the same as its larger counterpart at Ralph's/Kroger – in that sense, the Amazon Fresh cost is higher than Ralph's grocery store. But this is the norm for all delivery services in my experience.

- Living in Southern California, I have found that a late-night delivery (10 pm-midnight) works best for keeping cold and frozen foods frozen.

BOTTOM LINE:

- Amazon Fresh is a great service for those who really need home delivery. The nominal cost per month is worth it (again, I’m paying only $5.99 monthly, vs. full price because of EBT benefits). I personally couldn't rely 100% on Fresh delivery for all of my staples because as stated above, the prices and deals at regular local grocery stores are much better than Fresh prices. I like selecting my own produce, and making sure the expiration dates are distant. Frankly, I used to love grocery shopping, but my health is prohibiting me from doing it myself. For that reason, I recommend Amazon Fresh.

Unreliable service, missing items, spoiled food

I have ordered from Amazon Fresh before, but their service has gotten gradually worse over time. My most recent order with them was this past week. Among multiple bags of frozen and refrigerated items, only one bag had a cold pack. Amazon charged me for several items that were missing, the popsicles were melted, one carton of eggs had a broken egg that leaked all over everything, and the salmon had clearly spoiled, even upon visual inspection. The salmon's "use or freeze by" date was over two weeks ago. The raw turkey meat was warm. Amazon refunded the items, but that doesn't really make up for the added hassle or wasted time. I can only assume their employees willfully packaged the items this way, since there is no way the people packaging the groceries didn't notice all these issues. I don't even blame the employees, since I keep hearing that Amazon treats their employees horribly. Amazon really needs to get on the ball with quality control and giving their employees adequate support to do their jobs properly.

Been using Fresh since it started and…

Been using Fresh since it started and in the last 2 months this service has gone downhill. Never get same day or next day anymore (2-3 days most of the time) at all no matter how early you place your order and 3 hours or more passed the delivery time is when they show up . What good is getting a refund if the items are always spoiled I need the items not the money back. Turning into a massive waste of time. They REFUSE to ring your bell or knock on the door even if there is a HUGE sign written in 20 languages. I have a camera and I watch them be soo quite and then sneak away and they have been doing this even before the virus started! What's up with that!

Great for you & gifts for others too.

I have been using Fresh for the past year to safely get groceries during quarantine & I've always had a positive experience. Quality, fresh produce, meats & dairy delivered within hours & you always get *exactly* what you order, unlike some other delivery services.

What I didn't realize is they would be great for gifts too.
I had a terrible experience with Oregon Maiden Gift Baskets this Christmas, they botched my order, never delivered my gift, were horribly rude & left me stranded with no gift for my good friend in North Carolina.

Amazon Fresh to the rescue! I was able to order a nice selection of gourmet cheeses, meats, fresh bread, fruit & wine & have it all delivered to him within 24 hours. Better still it was twice the food at literally 1/2 the price. Amazing!

I honestly can't recommend them enough.

It's truly unbelievable

It's truly unbelievable, they discriminate against you if you return or order too often-I had situations with melted frozen dairy goods-unacceptable; they refund the money, but now when trying to order they say no delivery windows in the next 3 days-we are PRIME-the contract takes our money every month, then breaches itself constantly in these ways, and worse with Prime Video-as service that is supposed to be included, except that certain free shows are now FULL pay-like 3.00 per episode-so during the worst time in human history, this is Amazon's answer to the issues at hand, mess with everyone, and, if you don't like it, they shut you off-seems too me they must be aligned with other reviews on here I have posted; illicit and constantly in breach- simple caveat for them, if you advertise, and charge for the service; you must comply with what you advertise-they DO NOT-far from it-despite their great showing when they were up and coming, these days they never fail to disappoint...

I’ve used Amazon fresh since covid…

I’ve used Amazon fresh since covid started. It was great for the first 6 months but has really gone downhill.A lot of items have gone up in price the past couple months or not available.Ive used ebt lately and I noticed the other day when making an order I can’t buy ground beef. Why?My biggest issue is the shoppers.Go find another job if you don’t like doing this one.I had bagels sent to me the other day that were clearly ripped apart on purpose and could tell they were dropped on the ground in dirt.Thats what was sent to me.That shopper purposely put that in the bag.I hope they got fired because I damn sure said something.A couple days later I had to use it again.Rotten fruit that anybody could clearly see was rotten was sent to me.Also these cheap paper bags suck.Everytime I get my order lately the bags have torn apart and I have to rebag my stuff to carry it up to the 3rd floor.Im done with Fresh. You lost a loyal customer

I used to love Amazon Fresh

I used to love Amazon Fresh. I love being able to track my groceries and also have free delivery because of my Prime membership. However, over the last 8 months of me using them, it seems they've started to go downhill. Most of the time, I'm sent items nearing the end of their shelf life. There are other times where I'm sent items as a replacement for what they were out of stock of. I would've preferred to be told that it was out of stock as opposed to being sent something that I don't potentially like. Another thing they could work on is the delivery drivers following instructions especially during this pandemic. I make sure to leave clear instructions on where to leave the groceries and I still receive calls of confusion and wanting me to come down to them. I do like how they pack their groceries, though. Perishables are always with other perishables. The packaging always makes sense. However, they don't pack the perishables how they used to. There used to be an ice pack or a frozen water bottle (according to other reviews) packed with your perishables to keep them cool. Now, I've seen different packaging since then. They either: put it in a bag and leave it as is, put it in an insulated bag that resembles an envelope (best one so far), or put it in brown paper bags with some sort of lining that rips apart and sticks to your cold items. If they could fix the previously mentioned issues, they'd get 5 stars for sure.
