Ambetter is mostly a predatory leech that is only there to gobble up federal subsidies for health plans, and do everything they can to not pay. I'm getting new bills a year later after they refused to... See more

No Dentists I Guess
None of the dentists that they say on the website are in network are actually in network. I call them to get help, the lady reads aloud names of dentists from their website for 20 minutes as I patiently tell her that each one is also not in network. So she says she will give me a phone number for the dentist department in my area and then just stopped replying and let the line go quiet. After minutes of me saying "hello?" to an empty line I hung up in frustration.

We had Ambetter for years and loved the customer service and coverage. A mislisting showing our current doctors no longer took Ambetter (when in fact they did) led us to try another Insurance company for the first time in a long time, and it's been a miserable experience. We cannot wait to go back to Ambetter during the next open enrollment.
Providers suddenly not covered by…
Providers suddenly not covered by insurance.
Teledoc service not showing me in the system despite ambetter saying I have that service.
PCP suddenly not being covered.
I've been with Ambetter for years!
I've been with Ambetter for years!! Last year I had open heart surgery, and I'm not gonna lie, after reaching my deductible they took care of everything. I especially like the rewards program, the points I accumulate I use to pay my premium.. BUT, this year the same plan that I had in 2024, went up to $66 from $0, and the web page is trash, as well as the customer service!! They have NON ENGLISH SPEAKING REPRESENTATIVES, AND THEY NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW TO ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION!! Also the prescriptions that I use to not have to pay for, I HAVE TO NOW!! I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!! LIKE I SAID EARLIER, WEB PAGE IS TRASH!!
They deny literally EVERYTHING
They deny literally EVERYTHING. I pay 662 bucks a month...JUST FOR ME. I need a shot in my back that costs 170. They denied it and insisted on me doing PT that I'd already done, WHICH IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE SHOT. They're policy is clearly to deny EVERYTHING. That's the business model. So, I've been haggling with them for months. All the while, I'm in so much pain I've become suicidal. Don't EVER EVER get "coverage" with this company. I'm paying 662 dollars a month for a figment of my imagination.
Worst insurance company ever
Worst insurance company ever. They deny procedures that my other insurance company approved. They don't pay for much. Terrible customer service. Can't wait to change coverage.
We have encountered a negative…
We have encountered a negative experience since January 2026, which has persisted for nearly three and a half months as we attempted to rectify and update the authorization year. Despite our efforts on our part, no resolutions have been achieved. This issue began in January 2026, and as we find ourselves in mid-April 2026, there has been no progress made, only unsubstantiated assurances provided.
This people are awful
This people are awful, so mad , and horrified. My daughter is going to be a year old , never received my refund from a new born appointment that I pay. Fighting with them every month. Ridiculous
Ambetter is so bad it should be criminal!
Very disappointing experience with Ambetter. I had repeated problems getting accurate information and timely help, and the whole process was much more stressful than it should have been. Communication was poor, support was inconsistent, and I did not feel like my concerns were taken seriously. Based on my experience, I would not choose this insurance again.

This is a frud and or scam trying to charge my EFT Account in the IRS FOR 25000$. Im going to report this medacare. Because i did not sing up for there service. And they are useing My Trademark with out consent. I am going to file law suit for 25000000$
Ambetter is the worst
Ambetter is the worst insurance have ever had in 41 years, THEY DENY DENY DENY even my Dr's state they never deal with a worse company than Ambetter. This place is a total joke, ever person you talk to has a different thing g to say and don't know what the last 3 people said or did. No empathy for you at all, to this company you are nothing but a pawn for them to collect their money and not do crap. LOOK AT REVIEWS ALL! LOOK AT THEIR BBB RATING, THEY COULD NOT BE WORSE!!!
Buyer Beware!!!!
I was told to check out Ambetter Insurance as I just started on Medicare and pay $204/month for insurance. Payments are taken out of my Social Security checks. The person who told me to check it out claims to pay $16/month for insurance. Not sure if they have even had to use it yet.
I did my research and read the reviews on this forum and others.
There is also a very gut wrenching article in Propublica, regarding Ambetter and its parent company, and the rabbit hole one patient fell into in dealing with these companies ("I Don't Want To Die": Needing Mental Health Care, He Got Trapped In His Insurer's Ghost Network).
Needless to say, look elsewhere if you are looking for insurance. Avoid Ambetter like the plague. Their list of in network physicians is always out of date, most doctors and hospitals have never heard of Ambetter and they don't even care about the people who are paying $$$ for their worthless insurance.
Horrible horrible horrible
Horrible horrible horrible! I've been trying for 4 months to get a PCP and the website is either down or doctors listed are no longer taking ambettet! The app and website are always having problems and the customer service people are completely useless. I'm paying money for services I can't use!! Horrible run away FAST!
Thieves
Thieves, bullies and dont even honor their rewards system . i have recorded all my phone conversations with them to protect myself and plan to take it to fullest extent. THIEVES! Please ALWAYS record your conversations with them they will lie. 0 stars is what they deserve. they double billed me multiple times in a matter of 4 months
Customer Service is painfully bad
Customer Service is terrible. My log in won't work all of a sudden. 2 calls to support which is obviously not in the US. Neither call was able to get me access to my account. 2.5 hours so far on the phone. Now a support ticket was created and I am to hear back in 5 business days.
Worst health insurance ever
Worst health insurance ever. They cover nothing. The deductibles are high. The co-pays are high. Glad I'm going on Medicare in less than a year.
Wouldn't cover what they said they would.
I signed up for Ambetter specifically because they said they would cover my one, very expensive, medication. Without insurance its almost $500 a month.
The first time I tried to use my Ambetter insurance to pay for it, they required prior authorization. That's fine. My doctor communicated with them about my prescription and why I am on it. They denied coverage. For the medication THEY SAID they would cover.
They said they wanted me to try other medications first. My doctor sent them a list of five other medications I had already tried and which did not work at all. They denied it again.
For this medication, I have to do a check up with my doctor once a month to make sure side affects aren't too serious. I then have to fill my prescription within seven days of that check up. If I don't, I have to have another check up before I can get a refill.
This whole runaround took almost two weeks. So not only would they NOT cover the medication THEY SAID THEY WOULD COVER (which is the ONLY reason I signed up with them in the first place), I then had to pay for two doctors visits for a one month supply of my medication. Out of pocket, of course, because they wouldn't cover my doctor's visits, either.
Insurance is a scam.
I'm confused about the terrible reviews…
I'm confused about the terrible reviews here. Ambetter is fine. It is very hard to find providers that are in network -- the search functions are an abomination. Otherwise, they pay claims.
