The blinds are perfect

The blinds are perfect. We had trouble installing even with the videos - needed pictures instead of video because the video was difficult to follow. Moved to fast to catch the specific placement of the screws.

I like that all the blinds were shrink…

I like that all the blinds were shrink wrapped in a crate but didn’t like that it was almost 1000 lbs on one crate for me to hand carry one by one into my home. Unfortunately the delivery driver delivered them on my doorstep with the crate backwards meaning the boards fenced in the boxes but if he had delivered them on the crate with the opened end it would have been helpful. I had to walk around through my garage to my front door to unload each box with two bad knees it took me twice as long.

Easy to order and looking good!

It was easy to order new blinds, they arrived on-time (early maybe), and were easy enough to install. This is our third order with American Blinds in 12 years for different windows and I love using this website.

Wrong clamps

The blinds came with two different clamps/clips on each side and it was a struggle to make the blind work.

Disappointed

The blinds were installed, and fit correctly, except for the top structure. The part that covers the very top fits so snuggly that the wand used to adjust the slats is hindered by it, and it is somewhat difficult to use the wand as it rubs against the top.
Also, the previous custom blinds we ordered came with the four cords tied together with a plastic piece, and then instead of four cords after the plastic piece there were two cords which was not only neater in appearance, but easier to use. The most recent order had the four cords dangling which makes it look less attractive and is a little awkward to adjust the height of the blinds.

Updated review

The system will not let me update a previous review I wrote, so I am doing a new one. I had issues with my outdoor shades as the chains rusted and clutches locked and I was not able to open and close them without the chains breaking. Thankfully a wonderfully customer service representative, Melissa, was very patient, asked for photos and sent me new clutches and chain. They work perfectly now. She was absolutely a god send and saved my shades.

This is the second time I've ordered…

This is the second time I've ordered from AB. The 11 blinds I ordered for our home are a perfect fit. The website it easy to navigate and place orders. I am very pleased with the color and quality of the blind. I recommended AB to my daughter and son-in-law as they just moved into a brand new home.

Use Caution ordering outdoor sun shades

I own a home in Belize and purchased all of my interior blinds from this company. They were on the expensive side, but all in all a great product. Then I decided to purchase the exterior blinds. They arrived and I loved them as much as the interior ones. However, after about 3 months, the stainless steel ball chains started rusting. I would do my best to clean them every time I used them to try to keep the rust off. After 6 months the chains broke on all three shades. I called customer service, they were very nice and ordered me new chains. However, I called again and asked what else I could do, as I did not want to have to replace the chains every 6 months. Considering the three shades cost me over $4,000 and are sold as outdoor shades, one would think they would have something better than a chain that would only last three months. They had no alternative. So I warn anyone that wants to purchase outdoor roller shades, be CAUTIOUS! The chains will rust and be unusable

After reading their reply, I will again CAUTION anyone wanting to purchase outdoor blinds until they have a better solution. It was not just one shade, it happened to all three of the shades we purchased. It is a definite flaw in the product. Having to get new chains every few months is not acceptable for the cost of the shades. They are very expensive and American Blinds needs a better solution in order to sell working shades.

Ordered 100% on line, perfect fit. Corded retention works fine, but that’s what died on the last one. If another in the same room dies, I’ll probably order from you again.
