It is with utmost frustration and regret that I write this review, which is, unfortunately, an update on the horrific experience I had with American Web Nerds (AWN). If you're reading this for the first time, I implore you to heed my warning and avoid this sham of a company at all costs. They are not just incompetent; they are deliberate scammers, using unfulfilled promises and poor service as a cover for defrauding unsuspecting businesses like mine.

To recap, I paid $5,500 for web development and design services back in May 2023, with a promised completion timeline of 3 weeks. It is now March 2025, and not only was my project NEVER completed, but AWN’s inability to manage simple tasks, combined with their blatant negligence, has left me dealing with their mess for nearly 2 years. I am writing because I have still been advocating for my refund the whole time, including very recently. It has been relentless.

Let me make this clear: AWN took my money and never delivered any of my core service requests, which was supposed to be a website with SEO and the works. What I got instead were months of excuses, poor quality work, and endless delays. They consistently botched basic tasks like packaging designs and website updates, with no attention to detail, and when I asked for revisions or pointed out glaring errors, their response was always “We’ll get to it” or simply “Sorry for the delay,” but never any real action.

At one point, AWN abandoned my project entirely. Multiple project managers came and went without ever delivering anything of value. Despite my consistent efforts to get something done, I was met with radio silence. Calls were ignored, emails went unanswered, and the only response I got was a cryptic text from a representative who refused to engage in any meaningful way. They said they looked up my account and that project managers that left the company erroneously marked it as delivered. I explained at length and with proof that it was never completed and delivered, even pointing to the solid evidence that their private server link shows incompletion and abandonment vs the new website that was dramatically different that I provided as proof, as made by a consultant that I had to pay later on a different platform to do everything from scratch. It was clear at this point that AWN was not interested in providing any service—just taking my money and leaving me hanging. This is an update because even after all my pleas to them, even after making their horrifying behavior known throughout 2024 and trying since, they still are completely unethical with ignoring this.

In desperation, I had to build the website and business infrastructure myself, hiring an external consultant to create everything AWN was supposed to handle from scratch and on an entirely different platform. The work that AWN was paid to do is now all on me, and the reality is, they failed so hard that I had to complete the project at a significant personal cost.

Now, let’s talk about the refund I requested. After receiving subpar service for over a year, I asked for a refund of $5,000. The only value AWN provided was $500 worth of work (one logo delivered and some progress on packaging design without completion). Again, they NEVER delivered the main cost driver which was the website with design, SEO, and the works. It was nowhere close to completion. NEVER DELIVERED. I felt that this was a reasonable request to ask for 5,000 back. However, instead of processing the refund, AWN continued to ignore me, offering more silence, more excuses, and no accountability. It became abundantly clear: AWN refuses to refund customers for subpar or incomplete services, and their promises are absolutely worthless.

I am not alone in my experience. A quick search of their reviews shows that countless other businesses have been similarly misled and neglected by AWN. Their behavior reeks of fraud, and it’s becoming painfully obvious that AWN is using these tactics on a mass scale to scam and exploit businesses that trust them.

AWN’s refusal to take responsibility for their failures is not just a matter of bad business—it’s a case of fraud and deceit, and I see a class-action lawsuit in their future. There are too many of us with the same story, and it’s time to hold them accountable for their complete lack of ethics and professionalism.

Do yourself a favor: Stay far, far away from American Web Nerds. They have no respect for their clients, no competence in delivering services, and no intention of righting their wrongs. If you value your business, your time, and your sanity, steer clear of AWN.

In the end, AWN not only failed to deliver on every promise, but they also failed as a company built on integrity and service. They are a scam—and I intend to make sure that everyone knows it.

This company is a fake company they will up charge you the shut down there site and leave you hanging. Never trust this company I have learned from my experience and putting out there for everyone else to be aware. They have shut down in March now is back up to scam more ppl.

American Webnerds has been absolutely awful, asking for more money, more money, unable to produce the products they say, been working with them for months, any changes takes weeks at a time, have since got a phone call to help me and not to tell anyone about it, since my site has been pulled and they have all access and denied me everything, paid in full. I will sue no doubt, handling it now.
All e-mail addresses being returned, no phone calls being returned, at least 7 people assigned to account and now locked me out of my own domain

DO NOT USE FOR WEB DESIGN.

Never trust them, our website is going down again and again after the Renovation. Password are getting licked, data is not safe.

It all starts great, with customer service and helpfulness. then they try to upscale every single step of the way, and if you say NO then the treatment and your website starts suffering, gets very slow, what you fix with outside help disapairs and they stop answering the phone. BE CAREFUL< they are a wolf in sheep's clothes

Do not utilize this service!!!!!! I was skeptical to use them to build a ecommerce service, I moved forward despite my better judgment. I started the service with them prior to holidays, in late September. At first they wanted the upfront fee, I was able to put a deposit. They proceeded with a demo, started off okay, but wanted the remainder amount. I paid the remainder amount, as soon as I did, they blocked my email and number. I was not able to get hold of them. My project was not completed. Note that the company will start adding extra fees, to the amount you already paid. Again Do not use the service, its a Scam!!!!

They will forcibly make you a write in a 5 star review to be able to move on with your account as per what Victoria Johnson had me do as well. Since why all positive reviews have a name included in there review.

After 3 months of delays my site was finally launched. To be honest I've seen high school students do a better job. All the layouts are WordPress and very generic to the point they look fake. They will use fake reviews as well as photos.

Once my site was launched I was informed I had to pay for a postal service so my customers would receive there parcels (in which none have made it to my customers for 2 months now) once I asked about why nothing has gone through... I never heard back from Victoria Johnson. Web Nerds will not text me, call me or email me back.

I am currently getting legal advice to recover the lost money I have spent.

Terrible job. Website goes down often and they do not respond to calls, texts, or emails. I ask if it will get fixed but no response. Do not trust Zack. James Washington or Dan Smith. They are also known as American web coders and creative web studios

I believe the team was committed and diligent. Emma did a great job maintaining contact with me to ensure that I understood what to expect from the process. Nick did a great job with the turnaround time for edits I submitted. I do feel that I had to generate a lot of the ideas for page layout and design. I felt I gave a lot of oversight, and was still not completely satisfied with the end product. But, for the price, I believe I received a fair deal.

I ordered a Website from American Website Nerds. They built the site by my instructions. 3 days turned into 2 months. They kept trying to sell me add on’s at very high prices. Before they instituted them, realizing the prices were too high, I canceled them and they agreed on a refund. When PayPal requested the refund from them, they moved the site off of my domain onto their domain. It is fully paid for. Then they extorted me with this text: you owe $200 but because you made a complaint, you add $1000 to that amount and you can get your site.” $1248 is the amount PayPal told the company to me. I have reported them to the Federal Consumer protection with a copy of the above message.

American Web Nerds is a great company! I worked with James Keith Washington as my PM. James was awesome to work with. He was very patient in explaining the concept of building my company website to me from top to bottom. He was gracious and accommodating when I made changes. His work is top-notch. He made sure he hit all the deadlines and delivered the an amazing finished product. I would highly highly recommend James anytime!
