Unfair fees
After becoming the victim of credit card fraud, my card was cancelled and I didn’t get a chance to update all direct debits before getting a text notice from Anytime Fitness Flagstone that I risked having collections chasing me up and charging me a late fee of $7.50
I phoned them and explained that I had spoken with Debit Success yesterday - I was unable to update my payment details online yesterday because that was the due date for the payment, subsequently I paid it today. The team member at Debit Success assured me that I would not have to pay any penalty fees under these circumstances. However, when I spoke to the team member at Anytime Fitness Flagstone, she spoke to her manager who informed me that this was not THEIR policy and the $7.50 fee is now due and asked me to pay now.
I paid the fee, but thought I would share this slightly heartless approach to business from Anytime Fitness Flagstone
DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD...
Company charged my card 3 times that is unauthorized. Don't trust them with your credit card information for sure. Very Very bad customer service.

This company is FULL of deceptive practices!!! They sent me this email saying my account is paid in full on October 2. But when I call the accounts department they say it is still active!!! They have LIED since the beginning and they entrap you into their membership. They only way you can get out of it is to become permanently injured in other words they want you to keep coming back until you can't function any longer OR you have to DIE!!! Totally counter intuitive of what a health club should want for you!!! They care more about making money for their trainers than the people they are training!!! I have found a DR who will sign my note but REALLY???? They treat you like a child. You have to get a DR's note to get out of the gym membership!!!! Absurd!! If you injure me I know better than any doctor whether I can continue that exercise or not. I am an athlete!!! But I know my limits! Who are they to dictate to me what is good for me or not??? Their policy is moot when it comes to their exercises injuring you. I DO NOT want to even exercise around these people. I have seen 100's of posts regarding poor equipment as well and since their focus is on keeping their trainers well paid clearly they do not have a focus on the rest of the gym either.

Not the same standards across all locations. Been to multiple locations in the UK and Asia that were great. But my local Canadian one is disgusting so I had to quit.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. BIGGGG SCAMMMMM . I wanted to express my disappointment with Anytime Fitness regarding unexpected maintenance fees. During my 12-month contract, I’ve already been PAID two maintenance fees, AND GOT CHARGED FOR THE THIRD ONE which seems excessive and unfair.
Initially, I was informed that my membership would be straightforward, but these additional charges were never clearly communicated. After my account was frozen for three months WHICH RESULTED MY MEMBERSHIP DATE GOT EXTENDED FROM AUGUST TO NOVEMBER AND GOT CHARGED CEF FEES AGAIN IN OCTOBER, I expected my membership to be protected from extra fees, yet I still received charges that I wasn’t prepared for.
When I reached out to customer service for clarification, I found the responses lacking and unhelpful. This has really affected my experience with the gym, as transparency is crucial in building trust with members.
While I enjoy the facilities and the overall environment, the repeated unexpected charges have left me reconsidering my membership. I hope Anytime Fitness can improve their communication about fees in the future to avoid frustrating experiences for other members.

Do not go to this gym! Cannot cancel without having to pay off the ridiculous contract, was not informed of this at sign up, guess I’ll have to start reading the fine print in the contracts from now on. Biggest scam ever.

They have sent me a threatening email and are now sending me sms’s that if I don’t pay up they would collect this and that amount as penalty. Stay away from them.

I have never experienced such poor service from a gym in all my years. Pausing a membership here is unnecessarily complicated, and even after successfully navigating their convoluted process, they continue to charge you whilst your membership is paused, and attempt to charge you for unpausing as well. Over the past month, I’ve called SIX times, visited the gym in person, and yet the issue remains unresolved. It feels as though they are deliberately making it difficult for members to get what they are rightfully owed.
The management is completely absent. Despite numerous attempts to escalate the issue, the manager has been unresponsive, offering no guidance or resolution. I was advised to send an email, which I did, and even after two business days, I’ve received no response—no refund, no apology, and no end in sight. The staff are poorly trained and offer conflicting information with each interaction and often contradict one another. This level of disorganization and lack of accountability is simply unacceptable.
The state of the gym itself is equally appalling. The bathrooms are consistently dirty and smelly, cleanliness and hygiene appears to be a low priority. For the high membership fees and occasional "club enhancement fees", you would expect better facilities and service, but unfortunately, that is far from the case. The staff, while present, often seem disengaged and unhelpful, further adding to the frustration.
This experience has been beyond disappointing and very embarrassing for Anytime Fitness. Given the high costs and complete lack of customer care, I strongly advise others to avoid this gym. There are many other options that prioritize member satisfaction and offer a far better value for your money.

Even Worse Than Expected
We called the gym again today in an effort to speak with the manager directly. Instead of engaging with us, the employee on the phone said, “the manager does not want to talk on the phone; they only want to reply through the Google review.” As you can see from their response below, it’s petty, unprofessional, and completely disregards our concerns. Not only do they post our private business publicly, but they make zero effort to accommodate us or resolve the real issue— which is the fact that they have essentially stolen our money and continue to lie about it.
During the call, the employee hung up on us mid-sentence, and within 25 minutes, our memberships were suddenly canceled. So, they can cancel our memberships instantly, but they can’t process a refund for the money that is rightfully ours? That’s highly suspicious, to say the least.
On top of that, if you look at other reviews, the owner/manager hides behind the screen, acting like a cyber bully, instead of fixing the very problems they have caused. They go as far as accusing members of "defamation" for leaving negative comments. It’s laughable—especially considering I doubt it’s even legal for their bathrooms to be in such a filthy, biohazardous state.
All in all, I am extremely pleased to be leaving this gym (if you can even call it that). The nicest thing they have done for me is cancel my membership - saving me gas, time, mental energy, and having to deal with them in person. Not only will I be leaving - but many of my friends are leaving as well.
It is very clear where their priorities lie, and I am blessed that my friends and I will no longer have to waste our hard-earned money on a scam of a business.

This is absolutely the WORST gym I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with!!! ABSOLUTE SCAM!!! I am a single mother of 5 kids, i am currently on disability and do not have a lot of money. However, my 2 oldest children really wanted to join this gym as they are really trying to better themselves this year. My boys are 16 and 18 and have struggled with their mental health quite a bit, I thought joining a gym would be great for them and they have actually used it quite a bit since I bought them memberships 2 weeks ago, especially my 16 year old.
I signed them up for the student 6 month contract, the fee is $35 per member every 2 weeks. Well, today I received 2 Separate charges on my account... 1 for $116.62!!! And 1 for $54.67!!!
Upon seeing these charges I immediately contacted customer service and was told that I got a penalty fee of $19 for being late, apparently they tried on Sept 18 to take a payment (yet I did NOT receive any emails or notification at all until today stating that they had tried this morning to take the payment, but it had failed... But (and I quote) "not to worry, these things happen. We will try again within 3-4 days". Well, they tried again right away because it went through 2 minutes later.
I was also told there was 2 fees of $61 and some sense for my 1 son, but that she had never heard of them and that I should contact the gym directly to ask about those fees!
There is not a SINGLE mention of any extra fees, late fees or penalties written in any of my emails of contract!! Nor was I told about them when I signed up!! In fact one of their big things is "NO HIDDEN FEES" BULL CRAP!!! This is absolutely NOT ok!!! I am reaching out to the better business bureau!! DO NOT USE THIS GYM!!!!

Besides talking to the manager at the end of May about canceling my acct, he didn't listen to me and instead suspended my acct for Jun. It was my understanding I wouldn't have to pay for Jun since it wad suspended and I wasn't supposed to pay for May due to the previous mgr offer (leave a review and get a month free). Additionally, it was my understanding my acct would be canceled at the end of Jun to due medical issues.
Guess what??? Not canceled and sent to a Collection Agency. The agency calls but doesn't leave a message so I think it is a scam.
I ended up paying almost $250 and might have to pay for another month until my acct is closed.

It is almost impossible to cancel your monthly membership. Since May I am trying to cancel my membership. I messaged their Whatsapp Business Account then they ask for an email. I sent the email and then they ask me to come in person to cancel. Everytime notice period gets another month.
