This company is taking legit rental listings and changing the locations of the properties so they seem have more inventory. They are making people waste money on applications and then finding out property is in entirely different part of the state

I can't delete my account or personal data and there is no way to get in contact with them. So sketchy. I can't even unsubscribe from their emails.

I listed my home on Zillow.com on 30May22 for $1700. The next day, my property and the pictures that my wife took for the Zillow advertisement appeared on apartmentlist.com for $1000 with a bogus California contact number...not my number. Obviously, this was done without my consent, knowledge, or any form of contact. Since then, I have had 5 people show up at my home on 1June22 with proof that they had paid a security deposit and 1st month's rent despite the fact that the property had already been rented by me and had been removed from Zillow and the affiliated apartments.com. One young lady is currently sitting across the street in her car, sobbing. For many of these people, this was the bulk or all of their savings. The fact that this website obviously did not perform any due diligence checks as to the actual property owner (which is quite simple to find online) is reprehensible. Be extremely careful sending financial information, paying application fees, etc. on this website without researching whether or not it is a scam. Especially in these times where everyone's money is stretched thin and many of us are getting increasingly desperate, I find it unimaginable that a business like this can continue to actively scam or condone outright theft over a ten year period. The BBB reviews of apartmentlist.com should speak for themselves, yet they continue to be accredited by BBB with an A+ rating.

Horrible website. my listing was extracted to this website using my pictures, information, and description. however, the price is off and i am getting calls from real perspectives asking me if my listing is fraud. what a terrible way of doing business.

So this Apartment List has a ton of apartments listed. However, it seems none of the landlords/ property management that hold these apartments are held to any standards. 3 weeks now contacting various places,,, crickets. You get an email, a number, the response is either an automated text, you leave numerous voice mails, you email again… and nothing. You call again and leave another message, no call back. Absolute horseshit, there actually are real people that are looking for somewhere to live, as a means to help people find rental property, Apartment list should make the listing agent required to get in contact with potential tenant, otherwise what’s the point here. This app will not help you in any way shape or form.

This site is as fake as it gets. I am a realtor in NYC. Somehow these dudes have created a system that extracts old listings and posts them as new.
Now I receive inquiries about listings as old as 10 years.
The site does not offer customer support and I cannot find a way to unplug from their posts.

Agree with all of issues that other people have raised, it shows you a really tiny picture of the apartment, massive map. One apartment at a time, kept taking me back to California when I was looking in Houston won’t let you see the location you could chose from. I don’t really write reviews but this has made me so cross. It really is a useless website, I suggest the owners try to find an appartment in a city they do not know and see how they get on because I found it impossible !

The website does not let you browse matches. It takes you one at a time. The issue is, it does not take into account the neighborhood you would like to live in. So in a big city such as chicago it takes you all over. Furthermore it does not have the option for work from home people so it forces to to choose an office to commute to. Absolutely ridiculous that it forces you into these options without giving an option to contact them for help regarding this as the support section takes you to the FAQ page only with no option to send an email.

The good: Apartment List is a good source to see, it does work very well, I am happy to have found apartment list.
The bad: Lander, an apartment leasing company of sorts that leases furnished apartments within the apartment list.com network, at least they utilize others’ apartment buildings, on website of their own
The ugly: occult and biasness, bad ledger format and questionable morals and targeting of solo woman, solo man, and children left alone in their apartment.
My reaction: sooner than later I hope to be the one saying as the other solo woman/girls, “Bye ugly” to the administrative staff of two property managers, known here at this apartment. Their appearance is not the ugly, their attitude and the surrounding occultism that is here when they are in the building are the reasons I say “ugly”.

It's really annoying just trying to get to a map view of my state or a list of available apartments in the state without going through a whole questionnaire process. I just want to browse around and see what's available and decide for myself what would be a good fit, I don't want to answer all these questions and be given limited options that don't relate to my needs. If I'm looking for specifics, like pets or onsite laundry, then I'd rather choose them from a clear concise list rather than individual questions that pop up like a Buzzfeed quiz and waste my time.

WORST website ever!! 1st, Im looking 4 a rental in NJ and the edge of my radius area is near the PA border but I have ZERO intentions of moving out of state. Ofcourse, theres NO WAY of communicating this so nearly every result came back as Philly (and some random PA) rentals!! I DONT WANT TO MOVE OUT OF STATE!! So basically this service is unusable to me. Not only that but it makes you choose actual towns from a list which is stupid since its clearly just going to search in a radius anyway. It listed many towns ive never heard of despite living in that area for 7 yrs & being a door-door fundraiser there, visiting every town in that entire area. It also DIDNT have major S. Nj towns like Cherry Hill or Marlton in its system when I tried to manually add them lol! Also when I tried to find help or someway to contact someone at the site to let them know, there was NO WAY to do it! Not an email, not a phone #, not a place to leave a review...nothing. I even clicked on a button called "feedback" but it just kept sending me to the help page where there was absolutely nothing helpful whatsoever or a way to contact anyone 4 help so its basically just leading you through an endless loop back to that page no matter what you click on. I CANT understand why these sites NEVER have a way to simply choose "keep matches within my state!" Or "not interested in out of state results" or watever 4 those of us who are within 20 miles of the state border & have 2 deal with this every time we move (4 me its 11 times in the last 17 yrs)! It should be a GIVEN that people are not looking to leave their state unless they say otherwise!! Thats why I appreciate sites like zillow that at least allow you to DRAW around the area youre looking in. The area I'm looking at is HUGE but its much longer than it is wide so if I put in a large search radius then all its gonna give me is PA rentals due to my lower price range. So 4 anyone like me, or anyone not living dead center of NJ, this site is basically worthless! Anyone who's searching within 20 mi of a border state and doesnt wanna move out of state is gonna have a crap time finding rentals esp if a major city like Philly is 5 mins from even the edge of their desired area, no matter how large that area is. If they'd take 8 mins to add 1 web button that says "show me only in-state results" or something, they could really have an advantage over other sites and apps that dont offer this basic-a$s option (which I still don't get how thats possible. Has no 1 EVER asked 4 this b4? Has no 1 ever looked 4 a home near the border of another state and gotten frustrated with so many out of state results showing up? It cant just be me.)

In January of this year (2022) I went through ApartmentList.com to find an apartment for myself. After many attempts to find the right place for myself and my dog (pit mix) I finally found the perfect fit for us. Spring Park Apartments is not only beautiful and perfectly located, the staff are some of the most accommodating and friendly people I have encountered on my long and tumultuous journey to finding my new home. Elsie, (the leasing manager that solved all of my problems in my home search) was extremely friendly and helpful. She went above and beyond to ensure that all of my needs were met. That did not stop even after the lease was signed and money was paid. She, to this day, makes sure that I am happy and feel safe and secure in my new home. She makes me feel that I am part of not only a community, but part of the family. I appreciate her for so many reasons, but mostly for making me feel...AT HOME. Thank you Elise and Jamie, you guys are the BEST!!

Absolutely awful, I was trying to help a friend find a new place to live so I decided to give this website a look. They require you to have a set up account in order to even look at listing, which I have never seen another rental website do. It feels like they take you through the whole personalization section for no reason because many of the results didn't match what she was looking for. But the worst thing of all is that there is no way to delete your account, they will absolutely flood your inbox within a day of making your account. If you've already made an account and are looking for a way to delete it, I suggest making a throwaway email and just changing the account email to the throwaway, that's the closest thing to deleting your account you can get.

the app keeps giving me Apts that I can not afford. even though I set the max price in settings. other than that I love it...
Product request. try to get the landlords to take an Application from you. 45-$70 just to get declined sucks

Whoever designed this, props to them; it works amazingly! It's free, easy to use, and does pretty much all the work for you! All you have to do is pick your preferences and budget, plus maybe 1 or 2 things more, and that's it! You'll begin getting possible matches right away! Not to mention it does the sorting for you too. They found the perfect match? It'll be right at the top! They found one close, but not quite? It'll be near the top! It categorizes itself! I don't think I could've found a better site to use.

The only thing I would like added is a "maybe" list. Some apartments I like and am not quite sure about would be nice to have an extra list that's not "love" or "hate".

Apartment List is a great way to shop for apartments. It's easy, no sales pressure and a time saver. I recommend anyone looking to rent give them a try.
