...I'll never be able to find my own apartment again. After my second experience with Apartment People, I'll never again waste my time trying to pore through listings and craigslist and post office lobbies.

My first experience with Apartment People (two years ago) was borne out of necessity: I was living in Milwaukee, busy commuting to work in the Loop, and needed to find a place that worked for me and for my prospective roommate (who would be working at Rush). I tried to search on my own... but eventually had to break down and call Apartment People.

I was, understandably, suspicious... who are these people, and more importantly, what do they get out of providing this service? Are there kickbacks? Will I only be seeing a subset of the available places? Well, it sounds like what happens is that they get a finder's fee from whomever you pick. NIce and easy and above board. They pore over their own database of locations, and leverage their relationships with landlords and buildings, to find good matches for your considerations. Just as importantly, those relationships mean that they can set up walk-throughs, get keys, and generally navigate the process better than you could on your own.

So, when it came time to find another apartment... I thought I'd do it on my own, for some reason. And then I got lazy, and called Apartment People again. And yet again, I was blown away. Lynn K took my poorly-communicated, vague constraints and preferences and put together a list of potential locations that were just stellar. She drove me around to have a look (again, leveraging those local connections to get walk-throughs on almost no notice), and I'd signed a lease by the end of the day.

The girls set up a few appointments to see places two days after we met, cool. One place was outside of my preferred area, at the next- the landlord wasn't there to let us on, at the final- it just wasn't what I was looking for. I ended up using Chicago apartment finders. They took me (day of) to see 5 apartments. I signed the next morning.

The staff was courteous and helpful. They just didn't have any listings I cared for.

My representative, Joan was really nice and a sweetheart. I don't think that at this time though there were many listings out there. But it's just not only with the Apartment People, but all over. It's as if you have to start looking at places to move into three months in advance to find something in May if you are moving in June.

Use Apartment People if you are a busy professional with very little time (or patience) to look for a place on your own. My agent assembled a list, drove me to the apartments, and took care of assembling the paperwork, letting me focus on other things.

I had been searching for an apartment for weeks, and I didn't think I was ever going to find a place. They listened to exactly what I wanted and the first place they took me to was perfect.

The agent I had was understand but also straight forward with me. We were able to knock out apartments quickly and the 3rd apartment I saw was the one I signed with. I couldn't be happier with it!

My roommate and I were new to Chicago and uncertain the best way to look for an apartment. We were taken through the process step by step. We felt like we were shown the very best options for our budget and new home wish list! Thanks!

I've used Apartment People to find three places since moving to Chicago. Not being an Illinois native, it helped me immensely to have a guide familiar with the neighborhoods, public transportation, etc..., especially as a lone female, not wanting to accidentally move to a sketchy area. The only negative I could possibly state, is that some of the agents can be a bit pushy, in regards to either choosing a more expensive unit, or applying for one you aren't sure is "the one" immediately, rather than letting you think it over. They are all friendly, knowledgeable, & willing to work within your preferences. Two out of the three homes I signed leases for were/are amazing. The third, well, I'm giving Apartment People the benefit of the doubt. They aren't psychics.

My husband and I went to the Apartment People in late April seeking help looking for an apartment in Chicago. We had a great guide, I believe his name was Michael Berry, and he was knowledgeable and seemed to know exactly what we were looking for. We looked at about 5 apartments in Lakeview over the course of a weekend and ended up selecting the first place that Michael showed us, a two bedroom/two bath along Lake Shore Drive. We moved in in late June and are very happy there.

I was new to Chicago and they were nice and helped me find my apartment (within my requirements) in a day.

Craig R worked very hard to accommodate SO many demands that we had. You could tell her really cared about us finding the perfect place, and thanks to his efforts we did!

When I first moved to Chicago in 2007, Apartment People helped me and my roommate find a great place. Upon moving back recently, I thought I'd tray again. Unfortunately, a place that checked all the boxes was unable to be found. My agent was fantastic and I'd use AP again in a heartbeat.

Apartment people comes off like a great idea. Being able to go and see the apartments in person was the best part of the experience. Everything after that whent downhill. Not being able to talk to or meet the landlord was a huge drawback. The agent is in charge of everything after the initial showings. Whenever I called out agent he was very flippant and distant and didn't seem to care about us. I was the one who had to call and see if our applications whent through and if I hadn't I don't think I would have known we didn't get the place. We were denied 3 times and finally I decided to look on my own and I had an apartment the next day. Apartment people is a great idea with a very poor follow through. I would not recommend their service.

Great place and quick to find a new pad.

I had to enlist Apartment People's services for the second time last year and was not disappointed. The first time I employed their services was over 4 years back when I moved into a fantastic studio apartment located in Gold Coast for a mere $765 per month which is an amazingly low rent for the neighborhood.

Now I wanted to move into a 1br apartment and they've again come through spectacularly in helping me find a really good one in Lakeview for $1170.

From my experience I can attest that the agents are all very friendly and highly knowledgeable. They have a pretty comprehensive database of all available and yet to be available apartments that helps prepare a list according to your needs. Then they themselves take you to view the shortlisted places. The best part of all this is that it's all completely free.

I've recommended and will continue to recommend their services to anyone who's looking to move within the Chicago area.
