Been using Apify daily since 2025 - their billing dispute handling is deeply CONCERNING and TERRIBLE. They refuse to investigate/acknowledge legitimate evidence and will gaslight you.

What Happened:
An actor was explicitly disabled, yet triggered hours later and ran uncontrolled during the night for 3.5 hours, consuming 912,109 results before stopping when funds depleted. Charge: $456.05. Our system logs definitively proved we didn't initiate the run. Apify's own technical team acknowledged this was "an automated workflow" continuing after disablement - essentially confirming their platform error. Yet support refused accountability.

I provided evidence:
1. Written confirmation of actor disablement
2. System logs showing zero API activity during the trigger window
3. Screenshots of disabled schedules
4. Historical usage pattern (4 months of controlled, scheduled runs - this incident was completely anomalous)
5. Actor went "Under Maintenance" immediately after, indicating platform instability

Apify's Response:
- Claimed the run was "triggered via API" with no supporting evidence
- Admitted they don't retain API logs longer than 7 days
- Suggested we "unintentionally left it active" despite explicit cancellation
- Never addressed why the actor went "Under Maintenance"
- Refused refund and suggested we were at fault

I have to take this further to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority. Do not use this service, find yourself a better service like ScraperAPI or n8n which have been pretty good alternatives.
