N26 Falls Short. They Lied To Me. Held My Money

I had a bad experience with this bank. They told me two lies. They froze 11,500 euros of my money for eight days. Did not tell me why. I had to ask them a question "is this under a compliance review?" before they told me the truth. Then N26 admitted in writing that they did not do what they were supposed to do as a bank and did not give me service. After that they just said sorry. Told me to go to a bank in Madrid which is not their problem anymore.
N26 does not take responsibility for their actions. They do not communicate well. Have no problem keeping your money while they use it to make more money for themselves. They also charge a lot of fees when you get or send money. You should be very careful before you trust N26 with your money.
If N26 has frozen your money or done something with your account: You can contact Poma Advisory. They can help you get your money back from banks that do not treat their customers well.
The main thing to remember is: I am warning you. N26 does not care about people, like you and me. They just do not care about their customers. N26 is a bank that will hold your money and N26 will not help you when you need it. N26 is not a bank to trust with your money.

Absolutely disgusting place

Absolutely disgusting place. They are doing identity theft and phising. They stole all my personal information to stop their app and keep me from replying to all their spam emails sent from noreply. What a disgusting scamming business.

Its now 5 weeks i can't have access to…

Its now 5 weeks i can't have access to my own funds, the customer team said it takes 72 hours to do the security checks but now it's beyond and frustrating, I can't even pay my daily bills, the customer care is very poor, seem not to help me at all,I dont think I can recommend anyone to use this bank .

Long-time N26 customer

Long-time N26 customer, always satisfied.
Big mistake: suggesting N26 to my partner to manage our family budget.

Everything worked fine at first.
Then I transferred my salary from my own N26 account (active for years).
Seconds later: account and card blocked.

No warning.
No email.
No explanation.

All our family money (two salaries) was frozen.
Customer support admitted the block but said they “can’t explain why for privacy reasons”. Absurd.

The app shows a vague “procedure” lasting up to 72 hours, meaning days without access to our own money.

When it works, N26 feels modern.
When it doesn’t, you realize you don’t control your own funds.

For a bank, this is unacceptable.

I do not recommend this bank to anyone.

I barely used the account, yet closing it turned into a complete nightmare. Instead of a simple and clear process, I faced endless delays, contradictory instructions, and silence from support for over a week.

I explicitly stated that I wanted to close the account and settle a small negative balance, but the bank was unable to provide a straightforward way to do so. Meanwhile, additional charges were applied while my messages were being ignored.

This experience clearly shows that the processes are broken and customer support is not capable of resolving even the simplest issues. If this is how account closure is handled, I can’t imagine dealing with a real problem.

Very disappointing experience. Avoid.

Humiliating Customer Service

1. A direct debit could not be processed in July due to a misunderstanding with customer service via chat. I repeatedly requested that the block be lifted and was assured multiple times that it had been done, yet this was never reflected in my account. I asked for a written confirmation in PDF format, but after three months, I still have not received it. When I contacted customer service again, I received an irrelevant reply that suggested they did not understand my message.
2. My bank account was then canceled without prior notice. I only received a single email and have since been unable to log in. I do not know when the direct debit issue will be resolved. Because of the bank’s mistake, I am now being charged additional fees and may face legal consequences.
3. After the account was suddenly closed, I was no longer able to download any documents or contact the bank via chat or message. Calling has never been possible from the beginning until now.

Frustrating Experience with Account Blocking

I recently experienced an issue with N26 where my account was blocked without explanation. I was told that a standard check could take up to two weeks, but I was not provided with any information about the reason or next steps, and they did not request any documents from me.

This is particularly concerning because this account is used for my monthly salary, and such a prolonged block creates unnecessary financial risk. Despite trying to contact support, no clear assistance or written explanation was provided.

I expect banks to communicate transparently and provide timely solutions, and unfortunately, N26 failed to do so in this instance. I will escalate this issue to the Banco de España if not resolved.

I hope N26 improves its customer support and transparency for account holders.

Your money isn’t safe here. DONT use them.

I have been having horrific problems with n26 with fraud and they are behind horrible here, in fact so bad that Mastercard told me to report them to the police and file a police report. If you search online you can easily find that N26 has been fined millions by the German government for failing to take fraud seriously.
My story is simple in April I was a victim of fraud. The transaction dispute has been going on with Mastercard since then - but n26 have been so slow and so difficult to deal with. Last week the same merchant took another 1,400 euros out of my account - obviously illegitimately but n26 won’t talk to me in person, won’t give me a case number - and everything is done through a chat function where you have to repeat yourself over and over because each time you contact them it all starts over. A chat function to discuss thousands of pounds of fraud. I can’t afford it - it’s causing me financial hardship - but they genuinely don’t care and don’t take feud seriously.
I joined n26 because it was easy. Easier than Deutsche bank- but when trouble happens like fraud you need to know your bank will take it seriously and have a fraud team you can engage with. DoNOT bank with them. I would give anything anything in the world to not have chosen an easy to set up bank than a secure financial institution. Just don’t. You will lose your money

Unauthorised transactions

In May 2025, had a problem with unauthorized online transactions from the US using my N26 card. Total amount was about £600.

At first N26, refunded money involved. Eventually they informed me that some vendors disputed these transactions so I had to pay about £350 back.

In June 2025, asked N26 to close my account and I repaid the outstanding amount (disputed by the vendor).

I am now receiving emails from N26 asking my permission to send me an email about a disputed amount of GBP 50.

Just wondering why it has taken so long to resolve this issue.

Also in January 2025, I received a message from Airbnb in Switzerland asking for the PIN number for my N26 account. I informed N26 that my card details may been leaked. I received no reply to this email.

Please be aware there are security issues with this bank.

Would give 0 if I could

Would give 0 if I could. 200 Euro was stolen from the account and a 450 euro repyament plan was put in place. When I querried them and said it was unauthorised they simply said it was authorised via app and they will not pay back the money, their decision is final. There was not even a physical card activated on my account but the 200 Euro they spent was done via physical card. Stay away from this bank

ABSOLUTE FRAUD

ABSOLUTE FRAUD
I was using N26 for my investments with Etoro. I sent funds ($220.000) to my N26 account and they got stuck at the account. N26 authorities refused to move them further, and provided no reason at all. So I initiated a refund to my original bank account . They closed my account and blocked my card without ANY EXPLANATION. Also, several times I tried reaching their support team via telephone and I could not reach them because they have blocked my line!!! At this moment I have been waiting for more than 3 weeks already and begging them in emails to refund MY MONEY without receiving a clear answer!!! Also later I was informed that it can take up to 4 month which I find totally unacceptable. ABSOLUTE FRAUD!!

This is a horrible Bank based in a horrible country run by white supremacists and they take down every negative review that gets posted because just like Hitler they think they can control everything. Don't believe anything on trustpilot because n26 pays trustpilot to remove all the negative reviews because nothing here is accurate.

Do yourself a favour: avoid this bank

I used to love this bank and was a customer since 2017. Just last year I was blocked for days from my account because of issues with their verification process. Going through customer service was a nightmare with multiple "case number" and nobody taking accountability. At the beginning of this year my card was skimmed, I blocked it through the app, and just a couple of days later it was unblocked (not by me). No 2FA is needed for that and I suspect a security issue on N26 side. Lastly, I left the bank, wrote them feedback about the reasons in the hope they'd actually look into it, and I got a reply telling me I caused my issues myself (by stopping the verification process and unblocking the card). After the issues, and having been basically called an idiot after years of loyalty to this train wreck of a company: please, avoid.

Around 3000 EUR was taken from me by N26

Around 3000 EUR disappeared (as in: was taken from me by N26) after an account closure due to allegedly violating their terms and conditions - which in my humble opinion is bollocks. The money disappeared and I have not gotten it back as of yet. Based on my personal experience I would recommend to stay clear of this bank and run for the hills.

They send you emails with links

They send you emails with links, that is bad security practice. Then the "form link" takes you to a support page instead of the form... just for confirming details for thir compliance, 0 customer value.
The app logs out after an update... too much inefficient security, they think you are their employee and not their customer

Terrible Experience – Avoid N26 at All Costs

My name is Michael Petersen, and I’ve been using N26 for almost 3 months. At first, everything seemed fine — for the first two months, the service worked as expected.

However, on April 11th, I transferred €1,900 from my Nordea bank account with the intention of sending the funds to France. That’s when everything went wrong. N26 suddenly informed me that my account was under “investigation”, without providing any clear reason or explanation.

It has now been over 10 days, and I’m still waiting. Nobody from N26 has contacted me directly, and every time I reach out, they simply tell me that the funds are on hold for an unknown amount of time. They can’t tell me when, or even if, someone will get back to me.

This is completely unacceptable. Any properly regulated bank would at least inform you of the timeframe for such an investigation. N26 offers no transparency, no communication, and no accountability.

If you value your money and peace of mind, I strongly recommend avoiding this bank. This experience feels like a scam, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
