Scam: prey on vulnerable people
Please report this company if they scam you. They prey on elderly people by taking there money. They seem to run a business but at the same time scamming vulnerable people. £170 was taken from my elderly mums bank account and a direct debit set up with out her knowledge. Please speak to your bank and report it if this happens to you. Its associated with the company sparta telecom some how, as this is what shows up on the bank statements.
Just had a telephone call informing me…
Just had a telephone call informing me i was already covered with the above company and she wanted to renew the warranty on the electrical appliances,
I informed her that i did not have any cover with her company and then she put phone phone down on me
Probably an indication of the company !
Scammers
This company have obtained dummy bank account details that I gave to a scammer some years ago. They have sent me a confirmation letter and a direct debit guarantee. I expect that they will contact me again when the DD fails.
Wouldn't even give this company 1 star
Wouldn't even give this company 1 star! Do not take out a 2 year contract, it is a a con. You only save approx few quid. They recently took £170 off my mum as she was prone to cold callers ringing her, and gullible due to mental health. So she went from £7.99 a month to £170 for 24 months, hardly worth it, especially as she passed away a few days later and this company will not refund ANYTHING! Disgusting.
Cold call trying to claim I had used…
Cold call trying to claim I had used them before. I had not. Then said can I confirm your date of birth, so I said when you say confirm that means you already know what it is? Yes we do I was told, which is strange as when I gave a fictional date of birth they told me I had got it correct. We did then chat for 20 minutes but as soon as I started asking questions they hung up. They did try very hard to 'confirm' my bank details!!
Cold call from " John " trying to sell…
Cold call from " John " trying to sell insurance for my TV but insisted on wanting my date of birth. When asked why that was necessary he became obstructive. Possible scammer.
After several phone calls to my 90 year…
After several phone calls to my 90 year old mum who has dementia, they convinced her to give them her bank details to take out a policy to cover a very old tv (which she didn’t need)and then tried to get her to take out cover for a washing machine that she doesn’t have .
She received notification in the post Christmas Eve, thanking her for her interest in their offer and informing her premiums were being taken out on 2nd jan.
I’d avoid this company as they appear to put pressure on the vulnerable
Scaming b******s...
Scamming b******s...
I am sick to death of these predatory scum that cold call elderly people and sweet talk the vulnerable ones into taking out unnecessary appliance cover on whitegoods that do not need their scummy cover. Even if their phone numbers are registered with the tps it makes no difference..
Avoid this so called company at all costs..
Sparta Telecom trading as Reliable…
Sparta Telecom trading as Reliable Appliance Repair cold called and took £169 from…
Sparta Telecom trading as Reliable Appliance Repair cold called and took £169 from my vulnerable mother with dementia over the phone. (mother is registered with the TPS) When I called Sparta they said that a company called Reliable Appliance Repair process their Direct Debits through them and it was nothing to do with them. Avoid. Avoid, Avoid and report if affected by them. Also just last week I took a call for my mother and it was them AGAIN. They introduced themselves as Domestic and General Reliable Appliance. They are despicable.
Scam call.
I received several calls from 01704 468126, supposedly from Reliable Appliance Repair of Windsor House, Luton. I spoke firstly to Esther and then Julie. Both had fairly good English but were obviously from the Indian sub-continent. My wife and I are avid watchers of Scambusters on BBC1 so I pretty much knew this was going to be about getting all my details. So, made myself years younger with a new date of birth and a fake bank sort code and account number. Kept them on the go for about 20 minutes and finally got bored. Julie was not happy and hung up the call. I'm no spring chicken and I accept that some of the 'victims' mentioned here have health issues. Please try and get your elderly relatives to ignore any of these types of call to save any heartache and financial loss in the future. These people are the lowest of the low and I'm sure that we all have our own opinion on how we would like to deal with them.
My elderly vulnerable mother has also…
My elderly vulnerable mother has also just been scammed by these horrible t___s for £170. Contacted the bank just in time. Surely someone can stop these greedy individuals who prey on the elderly.
Same scam, different address
The telephone number quoted in previous reviews is now being used for a Warren Bruce Court address in Manchester. They are also using Interbacs to collect their payments. I have intercepted a payment from my mum’s account and managed to get it recalled, also informed Interbacs. Same scam, different address. They are also very persistent, I cancelled one direct debit after they successfully scammed my mum last year, only to find they reinstated the direct debit this year without authority.
Total fraud
Total fraud, this company has clearly got hold of peoples bank details off the dark web and is fraudulently setting up bogus insurance cover by the feedback here and recent experience of someone i know… i will be raising with Action fraud, bbc watchdog and the police…. The company details show one director a SINGH, Malti located in Luton and the 2nd company listed with very similar names…. Suggest others raise cases to stop this criminal and get them banned from being a director!!!!!!
Scammers - AVOID!
My father in law was scammed into taking out a policy with this company, his washing machine is years old and we live in a remote Scottish island which is NOT covered by this company anyway. We managed to cancel the account and recover most of the money, but over a year later he received a letter the day after a direct debit of £170 was taken out. We were promised a refund but this has still not happened. Absolute scammers praying on old people, an absolute disgrace. We are taking this further and reporting the company for fraud.
Dont trust
Same as other reviews. Scam. My Mother received a letter to say they had set up a DD for one year they had her bank details I dont know how. The letter did not indicate what appliances were to be covered in the so called plan The letter said the payment would show as Sparta Telecom. I called them to ask what was going on they said they would cancel. I also called the bank. I checked a few days letter and they hadnt cancelled thr DD The bank said they would get the money back and they did . I dont know how these people live with themselves
Complete scam - conned my elderly husband,
Same as all the other reviews. A guy called James Walker called me and his name was an immediate red flag as he was clearly not from Scotland. That aside, I've checked too and their head office appears to be a grotty garage block in Luton. They managed to persuade my confused 80 year old husband to renew what he believed were our various warranties. Now they are asking me for £190 and they'll drop that to £120 if I sign up. I asked them for the voice recording of their conversation with my husband so lets see what happens. Utter scam and con and guy got quite nasty when i questioned him. What a cheek. Warn your relatives and friends about this lot.
Absolute scam
Absolute scam. Had phone call last week to say my extended warranty was due to runout in 2 years time, but I could cancel now for a one off payment of £70 instead of £120. I have even received a confirmation letter. They had my bank details already. I have never signed for an extended warranty on anything in my life. Looking on Google maps and Google earth the address of 9-15 Adelaide Street, Luton is a block of flats. The other strange thing the payment was going to a company called Sparta Telecom also in Luton.
Incoming number 08007789104 & name used by thieves…
The phone number 08007789104 & name Reliable Repairs is given by thieves possibly abroad who cold-call people in the UK to rob them, probably by setting up unneeded direct debits (I have had a call, Google search the number). The incoming call displayed as from 01697325809, probably faked. A key feature of these calls (I've had several) is an attempt to find the victim's true age (not "the fictitious date I've given the bank for security checks"), presumably to identify old people likely to be easily deceived. I don't know if the call is really from Reliable Repairs, a UK company that exists and might be legitimate or not. Ignore the 3 stars, I had to choose something.
Targets the old and vulnerable!
Targets the old and vulnerable!
This company persuaded my elderly mother (almost blind and beginning to get forfgetful) to give bank details to cover an appliance - not even sure what! They've set up a DD for an extortionate amont. Will be taking further action if they don't cancel this after the phone call I am about to make!
TOTAL SCAM
TOTAL SCAM
Found a letter with a new DD set up for my dad's TV.
An 'OFFER' !! 5.99 every month!! How many of these are they doing. He doesn't need this cover and was duped by a very clever company of fraudsters!!! Preying on the elderly and those with dementia. SICKENS ME.
