SCAM

UPDATE 16/08 - These guys have replied to my review saying it was not them and they do not ask for bank details over the phone. I spoke to them 2 days ago and they confirmed that they called my mother in law on 31/07, took bank details from her and set up a direct debit. Even though she is registered with TPS and has dementia. I’m going to spend as much time as I can trying to make sure these guys stop targeting vulnerable people and stealing from them.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

Convinced my mother in law to provide bank details over the phone. She has dementia and is registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

SCAM PLEASE AVOID

Reply from Reliable Appliance Repair

"We strongly believe you have left a review for the wrong company as we never ask for any bank details over the phone. In our nearly 30 years of serving the community, throughout California, this has never been our policy.

However we hope your mother-in-law and your family the very best.

Scammers who prey on the elderly and…

Scammers who prey on the elderly and vulnerable. My mom had a Direct debit set up under the disguise of Sparta Telecom taking £175. So I got in touch with Sparta Telecom explaining mom is with other companies for all her phones, TV, WiFi etc. and does not need any cover, they replied back saying they take payments on behalf of Reliable Appliance Repairs!! This company has popped up before with my dad having succumbed to their chat. Sparta Telecom did however request a refund from Reliable Appliance Repairs and told them to take my mom off their list so will see if they do contact her again under a different disguise. 😡

'Reliable…NOT

Several calls from 'Reliable Repairs',stating they can reduce my payments if I give my bank details.Chap asked for my name,I refused & asked what name, address & item they were calling about, chap said he was trying to help save me money.
As I have no items covered by this company I challenged this & the call was ended by the chap.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!

Keep ringing and setting up DD on appliances my father doesn’t own. Apparently the cold caller did ask my dad if he was vulnerable. Avoid. Cancel DD. Report.

Definitely a SCAM to get bank details

Definitely a SCAM to get bank details. I was called by 01643 800 234 saying they were from this company in Luton. I told them they were too far away from me to set up any repair contract. They still tried to find out my bank details and make of my tv (although I told them mine was over 25 years old!) and other appliances.

As seems to be a persistent thread in these reviews my elderly Mother-was targeted She ignored the first 3 calls when she answered on the 4th attempt the call was from PETER CHAPMAN WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SHE SIGNED TO AND NEITHER DOES SHE NO FOLLOW UP CALL NO PAPERWORK RECEIVED BUT VERY PROMPTLY DEBIT OF £175 TAKEN FROM HER ACCOUNT BY A FIRM CALLED SPARTA TELECOMS! It must have been very obvious to this man the person he was dealing with was elderly and vulnerable yet he carried on regardless and processed the payment! Find it difficult to put into words my contempt and disgust at this blatant targeting of elderly Says everything you need to know about this company that they have to stoop so low to make money This has been reported to bank as fraud but sadly doubt it will go any futher! Today I spoke to ANNIE at customer services she listened was sympathetic and courteous she promised to have the money refunded in full my mothers details deleted from database and no further calls I also asked that the complaint be passed to the sales team Hopefully this will all be done
