I have just successfully completed the RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore Theory course with Ardent Training. Course content was through and very-well put together combining easy-to-understand text and visuals, coupled with accompanying videos. But what sets this outfit above the rest is the quality and attitude of its instructors who are always on-hand, respond to queries in seconds and provide superb advise and guidance that helps you understand things until they stick. I will recommend Ardent Training to everyone considering taking RYA courses

The training material was first class with videos of the instructors presenting and demonstrating the theory that forms the syllabus of the training course.
There are regular knowledge checks and module reviews through the course, which help to ensure that I as the candidate was fully understanding the content.
Instructors gave prompt and clear feedback on the module reviews, mock exam and final exam.
I would recommend Ardent Training to anyone looking for online RYA theory courses.

The delivery of this training through a combination of written material and video is fantastic. It allows you to learn at your own pace and the approach to communicating the key concepts was exceptional. Live support was always available and very helpful.

This course was recommended to me and I am very pleased I followed this advice. A great course, everything explained very clearly with a great choice of slide/text presentation, exercises plus extra resources and tools and helpful Q&A. Very quick response time to questions. Although they mention during working days I also got a very fast response on Saturday evening and Sunday. For distance learning you never feel you are on your own. I don't think you will find a better on-line Day Skipper theory course. Highly recommend.

From the incredible support and advice from instructors, to the course material and exams, everything was just brilliant- I would highly recommend.

This is my secord course with Ardent training and I continue to be impressed by the quality of instruction. The lessons are presented clearly and at a manageable pace unlike some on site tuition which can seem like cramming. Being able to pace yourself and go over and lessons again is very helpful. The presentation on board Mipha gives the instruction a certain authenticity, especially with real life examples as part of the learning experience.
Feedback from the instructors is quick and helpful and the regular live video events by the instructors give a "classroom/lecture" experience.
I'd recommend using Ardent for your RYA theory courses if like me you can't easily attend on site instruction. Study at a pace that suits you. The courses are not an easy option and the course assessments genuinely test your understanding. Taking and courses will definitely improve confidence, knowledge and skills.

An excellent online course with experienced sailors. Really interesting. I’m sticking with it (have abandoned an online course on the past !)

Fantastic videos, very clear instructions , and excellent response times

It was a very well laid out course (RYA Day Skipper), with plenty of examples and exercises, and a good balance of text, images and videos. Most importantly, the instructors were very responsive to any comments or questions I had, and I am happy to give the course top marks.

I took my Day Skipper Theory course with Ardent over the Christmas holiday period, taking my time to do 1-2 hours every morning for a month - I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. Charly, Ed and others were easy to listen to, with flexible learning visuals, slides explaining the content and/or listening/watching them explain on video. They did this from their yacht, Mipha, which made me feel ‘in it’ and more eager to learn. The content was broken down into easy size chunks and knowledge checks and assessments at the end, which I found really helpful as I got almost realtime feedback from one of the Ardent Instructors so I could reapply the knowledge for better understanding. Overall, I would highly recommend Ardent Training - they are ‘real’, professional, thorough and make it fun to learn, all the while the knowledge is sticking so I can recall Ed or Charley’s voice when I do my practical Day Skipper in a few weeks time. I completed by Day Skipper theory course with Ardent. The course is well put together and in a methodological order for ease of learning. I personally loved that the course is presented from the instructors while out on the water in their own boats - this allows you to gain a more practical understanding of the theory being taught. I would recommend this course!

This was a fantastic course, the cousrework is excellent, the instyructors are really approcahable and always online, and they go deeper that strictly required which is great.
I have very little spare time, so to have a fully year to complete the course when and how I like online was brilliant, I would wholeheartedly recomened then Thank you guys it was a great course.

I am very happy with the courses overall at Ardent Sailing School. The quality of the material is excellent: clear, well-structured documents and very useful templates.

What really stands out, though, is the level of support. The guidance is constant, and questions are answered very quickly and always in a thorough, helpful way. You genuinely feel supported throughout the learning process.

Just completed my Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Theory with Ardent (having done my Day Skipper with them previously. Excellent course, superb support at all times, swift responses and friendly teachers. Totally recommend them to any other students - I am so pleased I chose them.

Just got my day skipper after taking a year and a bit on and off as we sailed a lot. No problem with time zone difference (I’m in Canada) and the teachers were extremely helpful and accommodating. Feed back was fast and answers were quick (bearing in mind the time difference). It was clear someone was always available during their regular daytime hours. Had issues during test taking with workmen arriving in the middle to totally distract causing me to lose time. Holly and Luke worked with me to give me more time and allowed me to redo some questions that were not quite right. All good! The approach clearly is to find a way to get you to success. The online experience was fantastic - you can read, listen, watch or all of the above. It works for all learning styles. And it was easy to go back over the materials to study for the test. The charts, tools and almanac were first rate and very complete. It may not be a real place nor real charts but you wouldn’t know it. The additional resources available online to print off were also really helpful (pilotage plans, tidal ladders, MAYDAY calls etc.). I can’t recommend them highly enough. Getting ready to do my Yachtmaster! Best option for people who need flexibility when attending classes.

I had previously started a day skipper course with an alternative online provider. Following some online searching, I came across Ardent Training and enrolled for the Essential Navigation and Seamanship course. The video content provided for this course was excellent and helped to achieve this qualification. Ihave no issuess recommending Ardent Training to anyone, and I will be enrolling with them for my Day Skipper qualification.

The RYA Day Skipper theory is a really well put together and informative course. It teaches everything you're going to need to know and goes out of its way with anecdotes and extras such as live sessions for those who want to learn some more. On hand instructors providing extremely fast feedback and answers to any questions you have is a bonus on top!

Presenting this course from their own boats brings a reality to the techniques you learn. All the instructors are so professional yet relaxed and friendly, and inspire confidence.
Everything is clearly explained, and any queries you may have are answered promptly on email. Being able to revise things on the app at any time is a great resource, and you can do all this at your own pace.
I highly recommend doing your RYA Day Skipper theory with Ardent.
