Would not recommend anyone get a policy from here. They won’t pay your claims. They’ll start off paying the first claim then won’t pay anymore and give excuses. Just save a little money every month and you’ll get it back 100% when you have to take your pet in. They shouldn’t even be able to use the word “insurance” because it’s not. It’s a flat out lie.

The worst insurance ever uses tactics to deny claims. Charges me a $177 just about for one dog who only had some acute problems, like a bad ear infection and Arthritis of course, because she's getting older and a urinary tract infection. They're asking me for records from 3 years back. This dog hardly ever went to the vet. So I don't understand why I would be given such a hard time and charge. So much money to boot their customer service is terrible and they take long to process claims. And they're too expensive. Do not cover your dog under this insurance. Insurance i've had them for a while on my dog.And they don't want to pay me any money for her. What is the point of having it?If i'm paying all the bills. Update 12/17 @ ASPCA it seems you give the same generic response to everyone from what i've read on all the negative reviews about this insurance.
passing it on.? You're not changing your tactics or your ways and you are overcharging your customers and not covering their pets, if the pets are young possibly that's when you cover. But obviously you are not correcting the problem and lame excuses is all I've read throughout.

Worst insurance ever. They don’t reimburse for anything. My dog was insured and I was told my coverage included end of life expenses but when I submitted the claim they said my policy didn’t cover it. It was bad enough that she passed and having your insurance deny reimbursement was a kick to the gut. Do yourself a favor and get any other insurance! Get Nationwide or Lemonade…. Anything but this company.

My dog suffered for many years and it was costing me a fortune, I decided to finally get pet insurance with ASPCA, and I've been with them for about 3yrs. In the beginning ASPCA was a real pain in the arse, they wanted documents of ALL of his medical records, problem was he had been to 3 different veterinary doctors, and this took some work. ASPCA kept denying claims based on pre-existing conditions, and admittedly they were pre-existing, their not stupid, but as time went on my dog developed more health problems, and I would pay the bill out of pocket, then submit a claim, it would take about a week but they would pay as much as 75%. Recently my dog passed away but not after several costly vet bills were incurred totaling around $4700, total for the year was around $8k, this included full bloodwork, urine culture, emergency doctor visits in the middle of the night, Xray's, Ultra sounds, everything the doctors could think of. I paid out of pocket and days later they reimbursed me about 65%. Insurance companies are in the business to make money and ASPCA is fair about how they conduct their business, they denied pre-existing conditions because they really were pre-existing, but when my dog had new health problems they held their end of the deal and paid out up to 75%. I highly recommend ASPCA.

One of my dogs ingested something and they refused to pay my bills they claimed it’s and illness not and accident. They don’t want to pay out claims. I would read all of the fine print before paying for the insurance.

My policy started on November 21. They told me my pet wasnt covered since that day in other words. I submitted a claim and that is what they told me. I know about law, etc. If a policy is paid it should start immediately after pay for it. There isnt waiting periods, etc. That is a lie. That is so wrong.
Update: Read the answer they gave to me. Doesn’t make sense. If a insurance said that start on xy day then should cover that date. For that are the insurance. Insurance start the day u pay.
As I said I know about laws and know how insurance works.
I paid way before the November 21 but insurance started the 21.
The period of 14 days doesnt make any difference. If I got Attended on the 21 and the insurance said 21 it should be COVERED.
Wanna fight it in court? I have evidence it said started on the 21.

Had coverage with them for 2 years, my dog had her first seizure a year into coverage, they covered the first visit for that ($180), she then had 2 more seizures 8 months later and those vet bills were significantly higher and they decided to deny coverage and illegally claim it as a pre-existing condition, despite covering the condition when the vet bill was only $180 eight months prior.
Scam company, happy to collect your money when your pet is healthy, but will drop you as soon as you need their assistance.
UPDATE: I called the number listed in the response below to discuss further and they told me they made a mistake covering the first seizure visit. So not only will they deny you once you exhaust your deductible, they will claim they made internal errors and deny all future claims once you actually need to use their benefits. Absolute scum.
They even fired their CFO in March '25 for whistleblowing their unethical practices regarding denying claims, look up "Gordon Lavalette"

Hello, I have paid $900 to my Veterinarian. ASPCA won't honor my deductible. They said I did not satisfy my deductible which I have.
I am waiting for some correspondence from them. I have not heard from them yet. It has been weeks. This is a lot of money we are talking about here!! I am expecting $400 plus back please.

The worst pet insurance, when they deny coverage, claiming a UTI is a pre- existing condition for my cat. He's never been sick. He got a infection and had treatment plan with great recovery. I was told to file a dispute with complete documentation, but a supervisor called back and said if in 180 days and he didn't have reoccurrence they might consider revisiting their decision. The make sure in 30 day trial, they will definitely not pay out a claim.. You think ASCAP would be the advocate for animals, but just like other insurance companies. Some many reasons to denied and not pay out a claim.. All about making money, especially if your fur baby bill is too high..

ASPCA website is easy to navigate and sign up for different Coverages.
I have had one Cat for five years with the company and they have been great on the reoccurring cost of an ear infection!!
Monthly payments are minimal.
I just adopted a four month old Kitten and just enrolled her on a new plan.

Initially I have not had any issues. Claims were settled quickly. The first issue came when my pets neuter was not covered. I chose a plan that specifically covered that-and when it was time to use it -it's not in the plan anymore. I can't locate my policy coverage at all. Second-my dog had an accident. Hurt his leg while playing. Denied because they said it was an illness. He was healthy with no illness-he twisted his leg while playing. Third-I have a dog that passed and cannot find a way to remove them from the policy. When I call it says call back during business hours-but does not give any business hours. I am an insurance agent so am well versed in selecting coverage and policy language. I picked specific coverage for our needs and feel over the years the coverage has been changed and the information is intentionally made hard to locate. My policy renews in February and we will defiantly be reviewing under a microscope and possibly changing companies . I feel like what was a excellent service has become useless for the most part-but the fees keep going up. I may be better off saving the money for an emergency myself.

My experience has by far been very difficult and has been an extremely long process. I purchased this insurance for my puppy who at the time was 3 mos old. I took him to vet to get shots and we’ll check. Well now this company is asking for his itemized report from 11/2024 and my pet was not even born. I do not recommend anyone to purchase this health insurance as it has been 10 days and I still have not been reimbursed and still counting. I still have hope that there is better insurance for your pets out there.
