Paul Aston is the most honest person in mtb.

Paul’s is the most important opinion in mountain bike tech, even if you don’t agree with everything or anything he has to say. In an industry where bikes are designed behind closed doors by product managers and marketing teams we desperately need a voice like Paul’s to help us figure out the difference between what’s “new” and what’s actually better. His uncompromising attitude and comically bad luck are always entertaining , whilst his wild geometry experiments will make you think twice about your next bike.

Paul’s reviews are a game changer. In an industry obsessed with NEW! BETTER! OBSOLETE! He’s wading his way through the BS to find products that will actually work as advertised and last the distance. He also advised me to start riding the massive Catalyst pedals, with my disability I wouldn’t been able to return to riding at the level I am. He’s a Brummy Leg End!

I'm on a Pole Evolink specifically because of Paul's review years ago. Paul and the bike are both forward thinking and practical. This new project has been incredibly interesting to follow - he definitely has his own take on the sport that is a breath of fresh air. I was lucky enough to win one of the competitions. Everything was delivered as promised and promptly. Well worth following and supporting.

Phoned to book room 3times on different occasions over 2days each time the person in reservations gave me a a price much higher than anything online-then I told her was supposed to be a special price for patients in the Cromwell hospital told me each time to wait was clicked off twice 3rd time left phone line open but didn’t come back to me !!!!
I’ve now booked with another hotel !!!

Interesting info and honest opinions without conflict of interest

At risk of echoing lots of other reviews - just love the honesty of the tests and reviews. I'd say that I'd love loads more content, bit Paul proves there's actually a lack of manufacturers willing to give their kit over for testing. Love what Paul is doing. Hopefully I'll win a comp soon.

Just great perspective on mountain biking gear and industry. I'll gladly support the work by participating in the comps!

Fortunate enough to snag a set of Hope Tech V4 brakes to replace a stock set of Code R on my bike. Communication was great, shipping across the pond was quick. Even sent an extra 220mm rotor because I was indecisive about what size I want/need for the front. Overall couldn't be happier. Now to just throw them on my bike and take them for a spin.

AstonMTB's unconventional business model allows Paul Aston to provide truly independent reviews. As buyers we are generally unable to 'try before we buy' and reviews are a large part of what we have to try and understand if a product is good/bad. Truly independent reviews are a must and need to be supported (if possible) if they are to continue. The fact that some brands are listening and making changes (and making bikes better) shouldn't be ignored. Long may it continue...

What makes Paul great are his amazing reviews, not driven by the markets standars but drived by his own extremely huge experience and competence in the mtb world. But i have the pleasure to discover that another thing that make Paul "More great" is how carefull and kind he is!
I win a "Hope bike build package" and a "Works component's headset" and he drive me to chose the components list, frame and other stuffs, following shipment in a professional way and solving a delay by the shipping company.
