Incredibly poor communication and don't believe they will ever give me back any of the investment I put in, never mind the projected profit. I hope they can reassure me, but not holding out much hope!!!

Astute Capital PLC Under ICO Investigation

I am delighted to see so many more people highlighting the true nature of Astute Capital’s business practices.

I, like many reviewing Astute Capital PLC, am what is classified as a retail, or unsophisticated investor. A sophisticated investor belongs to a class of investors with a high net worth and sophisticated knowledge and investment experience. I have neither.

Astute's "Debt to Equity Overview" emailed to entice investors into a high-risk investment in March 2022, states
* The content of this promotion has not been approved by an authorised person within the meaning of the Financial Services and Markets
Act (FSMA) 2000

* "this document is only being communicated to, and directed at...FSMA "Exempt Persons"; high net worth individuals etc. IN OTHER WORDS; SOPHISTICATED INVESTORS.

THIS IS A EVIDENTLY A LIE - WHICH IS FRAUD.

Both of these * above breach the Financial Services and Markets Act (FSMA) 2000, Section 21.

I have been trying to negotiate a settlement with Astute Capital PLC, based on the Bond transfer value on 31 March 2022, for months. Their customary non-existent customer service has made this a task of attrition. I submitted a very specific Subject Access Request (SAR) in Dec 2022 to my Senior Relationship Manager. On the day of the SAR deadline, I received an email telling me that Astute Capital had agreed to offer the full and final settlement I had proposed. The settlement offer came laced with false allegations of disparagement against those I laid against them. In response, I mirrored back the printed statements they sent out to shareholders:

As regards "Defamatory statements and wrongful accusations of fraud": Astute claimed in its shareholder Update sent by email on 3rd August 2022 that you "applied to list Astute on Aquis... and the TISE listing application [was] resubmitted." As I have previously communicated to you, Aquis confirmed to me months after this statement was released, that your application to list on their market was not formally submitted and there is still no evidence of Astute being listed on TISE. Your statement about stock market listings is therefore false; so if that is not fraud, at the very least Astute Capital PLC is guilty of misconduct. All of my remarks are backed up by fact; they are therefore true, negating your claim that they are defamatory. I have explained all of these things to you before so if you are going to continue along this vein you need to be prepared to back your allegations against me with facts, as I have against you.

The conditions of settlement included my silence and the retraction of my reviews among them. Clearly, they are trying to minimise the damage such published negative reviews cause to their reputation. Review retraction was to be completed five days after the dated settlement agreement had been received. I resented having to retract my reviews but I reasoned it was worth it to finally get my money back: I agreed to their seven conditions.

The SAR deadline passed without any data being received; I did not pursue it immediately, given that the settlement had been confirmed. Everyone take note that failure to comply with a Subject Access Request is a criminal offence.

UNPROFESSIONAL
The very next day I received an email with such malicious, unfounded, unjustified and downright libelous allegations and a demand to remove my Trust Pilot review that same day. That I was on retreat in the middle of the Sahara Desert, without wifi, meant that, even had I decided to buckle to their bullying demands without any assurance whatsoever, I could not. Astute Capital then withdrew the Settlement offer on this unreasonable, unjustifiable, basis.

I returned my focus to the SAR, and when I pressed my Senior Relationship Manager, he admitted to sending my data by UNSECURED MAIL. He claimed that an additional copy had been sent via recorded delivery but when pressed to provide the delivery receipt, twice, there was none.

I warned Astute Capital PLC that I submitted an Information Rights Complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), who have now taken up the gauntlet. Astute Capital PLC are now under investigation for failing to comply with a Subject Access Request and for breaching the Data Protection Act 2018: the damage the latter could cause me is unthinkable!

According to Astute, the deadline for the transfer from Bonds is 31st March 2023 so, if like me, you took out an ISA with an original maturity date in early 2022, we have each had to pay an additional year of monthly management fees for the Bond account that, by Astute Capital PLC’s claim, were transferred to shares on 31 March 2022. So why are we still paying these fees?! By 31 March 2023, the (most recent) extended deadline for the transfer, these monthly fees will terminate. Right?

Do not trust and certainly DO NOT INVEST

So sad to see many others speaking out who are in the same situation as me. I put my trust in Astute Capital only to be let down time and time again by them. Being told lies and not being able to recover my hard earned money is shameful. It's time for action to be taken from all sides. Astute - please do the honourable thing and return peoples money!!!

Imvestments response. rried that I'm not getting any…

Hi guys. Sorry about my previous reviews. I've just got contact from Astute Capital. Gentleman was Luke. Not only he updated on my investments but also sent me full details by emails all my performances. I'm pleasantly surprised how well they are doing. They are also reviewing there customer service arrangements. Company seems really great as per their portfolio details. My sincere apologies for misunderstanding. I'll invest more in future.

I regret trusting them with my money

I have had a very negative experience with Astute, which has caused me to completely lose trust in them. They put very little information in public, preferring to speak to clients by phone. They boast that 93% of their bondholders supported conversion to shares, as a mark of confidence, but the truth is this: my Bond was due to mature in Nov 2021. 2 weeks beforehand they assured me I would be paid what was due. When the date came, they asked for an extension because they could not pay out. Every month for months I was left with the impression I was close to being paid. Then in May 2022 they conducted a forced conversion of bonds to shares. I refused to sign my support, so they had somebody senior call me. He told me that they had the numbers to force the conversion so it was a fait accompli that my bonds were transfer to shares, but advised that the best way to guarantee seeing my money again was to sign, in order to indicate confidence to future investors. I am aware of other Bond holders who felt tricked into signing. They also told me they were listing on the stock-market and that I would be able to sell the shares soon, and that this would be a quicker way to get my money than them going into administration.
Now, every month I chase and am given a different excuse for why they have not listed yet. In November I was told to expect my money by the end of the year. In January, I and others were written to with a commitment to pay out within 2-4 weeks. This never happened. I am told it is because a loan they were expecting back was only partially repaid. When I asked why they did not partially pay out then, they said it was because they needed my capital to give confidence to investors.

I encourage anyone reading this to seek out a Facebook group created for clients to swap notes (and compare what they've been told).

Dreadful client service

Their customer service is non existent, calls and emails not returned, absolutely disgusting. No updates on investments. Shocking, don’t invest with them.

What's going on with Astute Capital?

Not getting a lot of information about the bond I hold. I recently tried to transfer the custody of it from James Brearley (due to an excessive increase in custody charges) to A N Other and was advised, in no uncertain terms, that Astute Capital had put a block on any such transaction taking place. I also see that an adverse review on Astute has been removed by Trustpilot. I'm adding 2 and 2 together and not getting a satisfactory outcome. Perhaps Astute might reply to this review and advise us bondholders of the latest situation - nothing has been published since April last year when we had to convert our bond to shares. Come on Astute - let's have an update, the vibes are not good.

Forced to switch to shares avoid

My mother's bond was due to mature 31/03/2022 then I was advised that there was a difficulty with their asset to debt resulting in my mother's investment being exchanged for shares which she cannot cash in until 2023. She having no alternative but to accept the situation was left having to use other investments to pay for her granddaughters wedding which this bond was being used for.

A first rate financial service…

A first rate financial service returning exactly what was promised 3 years ago. Exemplary customer service and communication throughout. They managed a complete failure of business extremely well; and arranged, quite properly, a full transfer of assets to another provider, maintaining effective contact throughout. I am very pleased with all of this and will not be looking elsewhere for investment opportunities anytime soon.

Beat inflation

I was fed up with the little interest my life savings were earning, not even keeping in line with inflation.
I decided to invest with Acute Capital for a 3 year period. I thought I would take a risk with my money loosing value in my bank. I am very happy that I did.
Today I have got the full amount of interest that I expected and have I reinvested half of my capital.
The staff at Acute Capital could not have been more helpful and I am very happy to do business with them again.
