I made a buying mistake and it was sorted out for me.

Scam-level dishonesty from Varbergs Auktionskammare via Auctionet

I purchased a high-value camera lot from Varbergs Auktionskammare through Auctionet, and it turned into a 5-month consumer nightmare.

The item was clearly misrepresented:
– A camera labeled “Not for Sale” had the label deliberately hidden in listing photos.
– The product was defective and non-functional, with broken parts and worn glass on the lenses.
– Two film backs were damaged — one had a broken frame counter, the other didn’t even mount.
– A photo shade was jammed shut and unusable.

None of this was stated in the description, and most defects were visibly concealed in the auction photos.

After reporting the issue, I faced months of silence and evasion from both the auction house and the platform. Auctionet claimed to “mediate” but did nothing. The seller ignored my messages until I involved the European Consumer Centre. Then they simply demanded I return the item without any documentation or guarantee.

I’m not willing to ship an expensive item back to a deceptive seller with no protection — and I never should have been asked to do so.

This behavior is unethical, possibly illegal, and certainly unworthy of any professional auction platform.

They are not trustworthy. If something goes wrong — you are on your own.

John was very quick to respond to my my questions (even during the weekend) and made my latest purchase much easier.
One more thing: Please start to accept AMEX, that would improve your business even further. And you and the houses certanly have the margins.

Their charges are basically outrageous - particularly their shipping charges which are about 3/4 times more than any other auction house I,ve dealt with- and so complicated to work out what they are

Awful way to run business. I have paid the invoice for 18k gold earrings but still wasn’t posted so I checked the status of postage couple of days and I found out that the earrings were still in the auction house and was accumulating charge for not collection. Shouldn’t they post out the earrings after receiving the payment?
I was shocked as it was an online business based in Sweden, I am buying from Uk and how do they expect me to collect it! Absolutely fuming as there seems to be lots of hidden charges.

I would be very careful before purchasing anything from this website. Also, difficult to communicate with someone regarding problems.

They lie about the shipping pricing on the website until after you've purchased and 15 days later, €400 spent on shipping and they still haven't shipped the item or provided tracking

BUT DURING PAYMENT PROCESS 25% PROVISION FEE PLUS ANOTHER SMALL FEE FOR WHATEVER SERVICE ARE ADDED SO I HAD TO PAY ABOUT 700 SEK JUST FOR SHIPPING AND PROVISION PLUS WINNING BID OF ABOUT 1400 SEK. THE TOTAL AMOUNT IS WAY ABOVE MY BUDGET BUT IM FORCE TO PAY THOUGH I WANT TO CANCEL EVERYTHING. TRADERA IS MUCH BETTER YOU PAY THE WINNING BID AND REASONABLE SHIPPING WHICH COST A FRACTION OF 385 SEK. FIRST AND LAST TIME TO USE AUCTIONET. NEVER AGAIN!

A great website and super service!

The auction really messed up the delivery. They may not deliver your goods because they choose a poor service, no one will contact you, and if you do not pay for delivery again, they will confiscate it in accordance with certain Swedish laws that you will not understand. It is useless to correspond with them, their feedback is rude, and they do not want to communicate in a friendly manner! They only threaten you with penalties and confiscation, as they are clearly not interested in solving your problem. If you are planning any purchase and do not live in Sweden, consider the risks.

Omge I got in contact with the right contact person everything went really smooth.
Only missing the feedback from the selling house that the case was past on to Auctionet.

Even though it was about a complaint about an 18th Boulle-type fireplace clock - France and I initially thought they wouldn't help me because it was a "small defect", I am very happy with the solution to the problem :) my day became sunnier despite the autumn weather in the country
