AcaRent aka SCAM rent in Tirana

AcaRent in Tirana is nothing but a big scam! They will charge your credit card lot´s of money on damages that was not made by you. I even had photos of damages from Before renting the car, that they charged my credit card for. My insurance company paid back the money after they got these photos.

The car itself was also old and and in bad condition, and smaller than the one we reserved. First thing we had to do when leaving Tirana was to find a gas station to give the tires some air, as the tire pressure was extremely low.

When signing the contract they stress you and says "no time to read, we have other customers". And when opening the hood they got angry and slammed down the hood. Really rude staff and just there to steal your money.

Stay away!

Very good

On arrival, Youssef arrived promptly to the Agadir airport, even received a txt beforehand, quick and pleasant service. At the end of the trip he was waiting for us at the car park as well, no issues whatsoever. Be mindful that there is no desk at the airport, all business done at a car park, but you’ll get all the usual paper work etc, no worry at all. We have done this now 2nd time. Car was not in a mint condition but that didn’t bother us at all. Fair price and great experience, would recommend.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Terrible experience from start to finish. The shuttle never arrived to collect me at Sofia airport and despite 8 phone calls to the number provided, it took 1.5 hours before I could get in touch with anyone. They then told me I had to walk to collect the car. They weren't there when I arrived as they had gone to 'clean the car' which arrived back still dirty and smelling of cigarettes. The car had done 160,000km and flashed to say it needed a service while driving it. It took 2.5 hours in total from my flight arriving to collecting the car because of their terrible service. I am now 70 days post returning the car and am yet to receive my £312.22 deposit back to my credit card, which they have assured me I should receive in full. I have emailed many times and mostly receive silence, I have now been told to try and claim it back on my credit card. I wished I'd read the Trustpilot reviews first, so don't make my mistake!

*** STAY AWAY FROM ACARENT CORFU ***

No service provided at all even though booked and paid for in advance. Obstructive and down right lies at every opportunity from them even though evidence provided to back up my claims. Acarent Corfu is a complete scam outfit which should be closed down and people banned from the car hire business for life.

Scam-avoid-no escape

Scam of biblical proportion! Avoid at all cost! Never again!
1. Car collected in the night, impossible to carefully check. It was super specified that it is brand new (warning!!!), no sand, water etc etc
I even washed the car before returning! Deposit 1200E!
2. At return, the lady went straight to the bumper and showed me a tiny scratch (like it was secretely known before). I honestly didn’t touch the bumper or parked close to something or drove on rough roads. With a scratch pen, will disappear in seconds. I was charged 345 E!!!
3. Moreover, my rental and out of hours fee were charged again on top of the scratch to a total of 561E!
4. The invoicing email was sent when I already passed the airport security. I called from inside the airport. At the beginning a gentleman told me to go back to office (impossible) and then claimed he suddenly can’t hear me and disconnected.
Never again Acarent under DoYouSpain! CarJet should not use them anymore and I will make this message crystal clear.

ACARENT Corfu is a SCAM car rental service. DO NOT RENT THROUGH THIS COMPANY. Returned the car in pristine condition- then the man felt UNDERNEATH the bumper and told me there were scratches. I couldn’t feel anything unusual. Tried to take a photo to see what he was talking about. They have kept half my Eur 1,100.00 deposit. The man said it’s no problem as I’ll get the money back on insurance. That’s not the point.

Never again!

I want to share a very disappointing experience with the booking platform Acarent/BSP Auto and the rental company Lotus Parking in Greece.

🔴 Misleading information
When booking, it was clearly stated that the deposit would not be charged but only pre-authorized. However, it was actually debited. I was told it would be refunded within 4 days after returning the car… I had to wait 3 weeks.

🚗 Conditions not respected
I specifically chose BSP because it was the only company that allowed travel to the Greek islands. Yet, once there, the rental company tried to charge me extra for taking the car to the islands. I had to argue firmly before they finally dropped the fee.

🛬 No one at the airport
The supposed meeting point at the airport to get to the rental office was a mess. No one was there. I had to call twice and wait 40 minutes before someone showed up.

🛠️ Unreliable return inspection
An inspection was done when I picked up the car, but during the return, the staff member had no paperwork at all. Everything was done from memory. She pointed out a scratch on the bodywork, claiming it was new, even though she didn’t have the initial report. Fortunately, I had taken photos at pickup, which proved the scratch was already there.

🚙 Mechanical issues
The car had trouble starting from day one. No assistance was offered.

❌ Zero accountability
In case of problems—like with the deposit—BSP Auto and Lotus Parking simply blame each other. No one takes responsibility, and the customer is left stuck
I absolutely do not recommend Accarent/BSP Auto or Lotus Parking. Dishonest practices, poor service, and no support when things go wrong. Never again.

Fraud and scamming

Fraud and scamming - terrible in Corfu and ACARENT not bothered and will not resolve being defrauded of 600 euros. I have since found out many customers have had the same. Shameful

The worst way to catch customer's Money...

Service purchased through discovercars.com and not directly.

Upon arrival (Chania Airport) they delivered the car to me an hour and a half late because of their problems.

They initially tried to sell me an additional insurance coverage despite the fact that I had full with discovercars.com.

Upon delivery (8:30 p.m.) there was no longer enough natural light to make a timely inspection of the vehicle, which was, moreover, already damaged.

At the end of the rental they thus imputed a scratch to a rim cover that I had not done (50€).

Given the low reputation on Google and trustpilot too, it seems to me that I was not the only one who had problems.

As far as I am concerned I will not use them again and I urge you to take every precaution with them.

SCAM! DEATH THREATS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I trusted Aca Rent as an international brand, but after my terrible experience with their Tirana Airport branch and the way the head office in Italy handled my complaint, I must strongly warn others: do not rent with this company.

At Tirana airport we were scammed into paying €300 for a fake insurance, forced to drive with an expired car insurance (I have photos as proof), and threatened with violence when we returned the car. The employee even tore up our signed contract and shouted “I will kill you.” Luckily we recorded the discussion, so we still have evidence.

But what is even more shocking is the response from Aca Rent Italy. Instead of investigating, they simply forwarded me the version of the very same people who scammed and threatened us, ignoring completely the most serious parts of my complaint: the expired insurance, the missing Green Card, the fake extra charges, the intimidation and the death threats. This shows that the parent company is not willing to take responsibility for the behavior of its franchisees, leaving customers completely unprotected.

Renting with Aca Rent means taking a huge risk, not only because of the abusive practices of their branches, but also because the head office refuses to stand behind the customer. If you care about your safety and your rights, avoid Aca Rent everywhere.

STAY AWAY from this car rental! BIG NO!!

STAY AWAY from this car rental located in Athens. The car was very old, dirty inside when we picked it up and the staff was rude and not helpful at all. They even said go to a car wash if not happy, for us it is cleaned. After drop off they delayed to unfreeze the deposit for a total 6 working days!. Definitely not recommended to anyone. Worst experience ever

A better experience than I expected!

I actually had a pretty good rental experience in Bulgaria. I arrived at the airport and had to call the guy to collect me as they are based in a site off of the airport. When we got there admittedly the car was quite old but it fitted all of our stuff no problem. I paid the deposit and was soon on my way. At the time of returning the car I was a bit worried as I had by this point read the reviews and was pretty sure I would get stung for some kind of damage... But I actually didn't and they returned the deposit after about 7 days. Only gripe is like I said that the car was a bit older but it did the job fine.

Rip off

ACA Rent Heraklion:
We were charged 570 EUR for a dent that wasn't even a scratch. Unfortunately, we took two photos of this side od the car and this part was accidentally left out. They are obviously after money, because they don't use it for repairing their cars. The car had about 15 documented previous damages. They lied to us that they repair their cars once a year. Our cars had so much previous damage that it was obvious it hadn't been repaired in years. This means that they charge for minor damage and don't use this money to repair the actual damage. To be avoided!

HANDS OFF HERE, WE WERE DENIED THE CAR WE PAID FOR!!!!
The voucher says that you will be picked up at the airport with a sign. A 45-minute delay meant that no one was there anymore. We called the rental company, who told us that we were 45 minutes late and that the car had been rented to someone else. The car was rented and paid for through Car-Jet – I'm curious to see how they respond! Now it gets weird: they would have an Opel Corsa available for us for 140 euros per day! The Toyota Aygo we had booked cost 300 euros for 7 days, and now they want almost 1,000 euros extra. This is outrageous. Extortion and fraud at a rental company! Thank you. Therefore, caution is advised, and it is better to rent elsewhere immediately

Akarent is a company of scammers who write off money from clients

I ordered a car from the AKArent Company at Corfu Airport, but it was issued to me by the Sigma Rent A Car Company. I paid for full insurance. But the employees of the Sigma Rent A Car Company stole 400 euros from me!
When we returned the car the next day, the AKArent or Sigmarentakar manager found 2 small paint chips on the rear bumper about 2 millimeters in size. He asked for my card and wrote off 400 euros from it. He said that the insurance company would cover everything. They said it was a small scratch and your insurance would cover it. I asked who my insurance company was. They said - CarJet
Now they are not in touch. The CarJet Company website, which insured the car, is also not in touch!

No car after waiting one hour!!

They let us wait for one hour. After the shuttle transferred us to their office. The tiny lady with black hair looked to us asked me how many bags I have and said that she hasn't a car for me. She let us down there with my three children. It's a scam company, dont trust them and rent your car somewhere else.

Only problems, don't book at this company

The guys are criminals. Don't book there. First they wanted to sell me an additional insurance initially,
afterwards we had to pay 365 Euro for a scratch which did not exist before.
You are normally in a hurry, normally you check the car for all scratches.
The car had many scratches before, they know all the locations where you normally don't make photos correctly and charge with that afterwards.

Firstly I wish I could give the star scale a 0 !

Here’s a snippet of the unprofessional, intimidating and scamming behaviour of Stigma Car Rental/ Go Car Rental - hired through ACA Rentals. Thank you to these scammers for putting a real downer on the end of our holiday and causing us to have to drag all our luggage on a 15 minute walk on a busy road in 30 degree heat to the airport.

Disgusted isn’t even the word for it!! I knew the moment we got out of the car to drop it off, something dodgy was underway… I should have known it was a con artist company when they don’t even take their own pictures or videos of the car before handing it over to you on arrival- you have to do this yourself (which we did, including a 360 video of the car)… apparently that wasn’t good enough I should have filmed under the car!! (As “other customers do”).

The company tried to claim we had caused damage under the car as there was a “scratch”. It was rather convenient he said about this invisible scratch after we shut him down about all other dints and scratches on the car he tried to point out as damage (luckily we took our trusty videos and pictures… however it’s a real shame we didn’t do under the car!!)

We have been lucky (so far I think) as our £1000 deposit was refunded about 5 days into our 10 day holiday (no idea why but we aren’t complaining because if we hadn’t had this refunded - which must of been a mistake on their end considering we still had the car for another 5 days, we most likely would have lost this money!). We have also blocked our bank card and will be contacting the bank on arrival to the UK, we did not sign a single one of their fake damage contracts and walked off after 50 minutes of back and forth confrontation… which included who I believe is the manager threatening me with police and fines whilst I was recording for my safety!!

The damage contract he handed us was ridiculous, I feel bad for others who have probably signed this out of intimidation. Said document included an incident date and location…. Date being 6/07… this is how unlegitmate this company is because how would he know this date if we did suppodely cause the damage… why have they made up a random location and date, they would put this as unknown…. Randomly making details up and trying to force us to sign it just goes to show how ludicrous this all was! No way was I signing anything. When he was asked to provide us more terms and conditions to this damage contract he just kept referring to the booking voucher….

We hired our rental car through ACA rentals, we did our research and reviews all seemed good hence the booking…. We never thought we would be handed off to a professional scamming company. After this event I have now looked into the company Go Car rental / Stigma Rentals and it seems they are professional scam artists who run under several company names, even hiding behind larger companies. Please avoid at all costs! I am traumatised by this event, so upset that this was the way my holiday ended and that I paid money to a company who then tried to scam us! I will be contacting ACA and taking this further to raise awareness to what has gone on!

This company and all those involved within it should be ashamed of themselves! Never again will I book a rental car that is not hired through a large company operated in line with airlines!

PLEASE RAISE THE AWARENESS ABOUT THESE COMPANIES AND DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! IF YOU HAVE A BOOKING WITH ANY OF THE COMPANY NAMES I HAVE MENTIONED…. CANCEL IMMEDIATELY !

Bad experience. I won’t rent from them again.

We rented a car on a Saturday and, surprisingly, were charged a €50 fee for picking it up after 3:00 PM, as they consider this "out of hours." This makes no sense, especially on a Saturday, which is typically a busy rental day. What's even more strange is that during the week, their opening hours go until 8:00 PM without any extra fee.

In addition, they refused to accept our credit card (which was fully valid) to block the deposit, simply because it didn’t have printed the numbers. Nowadays, many cards in Spain are issued without visible numbers for security reasons, and this shouldn’t be an issue. As a result, we had no choice but to take their full insurance, which was much more expensive than the external insurance we had already purchased.

In short: we had to pay €50 extra due to an inflexible schedule and take out unwanted insurance due to an outdated card policy.
A disappointing experience. I do not recommend this company.
