I will never book a rental with these theives ever again.
Booked a car through Auto Europe UK to be collected at Manchester Airport 0n 30th Dec 2025 from Budget. We had several issues with the car and Budget were absolutely fantastic with us. They refunded the cost of the car hire plus gave us a voucher for the next time we hire! Unfortunately they refunded Auto Europe and not us. I have been trying since Jan 5th to get our refund and only just now (6/3/26) have they informed us (after many ignored emails) to expect our refund in 20-25 working days, which is over a month in real time.
How do these cowboys get away with this?
No idea how they get a 5 star rating on their own website when I cannot seem to leave a review! You can make your decision on that one!

Car that was booked was not available, only alternative was not suitable. Had to accept alternative offered to get to accommodation and then drive back to the car rental a second time, 2 hour drive each way, to pick up another car which still wasn't what I had booked..why bother booking, it's a lottery.

I booked and fully paid for a 10-day rental in Cagliari, Sardinia. Because our flight arrived at 1am, I scheduled the pickup for 9am. When I arrived at 11am, I was told the car I had already paid for was no longer available because I was “late.” Instead, they pushed me into a more expensive option.

It didn’t stop there. At the counter, I learned they only accept credit cards for deposits. Since I only had a debit card, I was forced to pay an additional €400 insurance—on top of the coverage I had already purchased (which was not refunded). I even offered a larger deposit with my debit card, but they refused.

This feels like a deliberate tourist trap—designed to squeeze more money from travelers who just want to start their holidays stress-free. What should have been a smooth start completely ruined my first day.

Be warned: If you value your holiday and your money, avoid this company at all costs. And if you must book, be aware: CREDIT CARD ONLY (something that should be made very clear upfront).

I've had success with Auto Europe in the past but this time I encountered a problem. I kept getting a message that cars were not available for my choice of vehicle and pick-up location. There was no indication of what the reason was. Eventually, by going up a level in the car which I really wanted and trying different rental companies, I found a combination which was accepted .

Easy to book as always. Good visibility on multiple offers from different rental companies.

The terms and conditions of the rental were not 100% clear at the time of booking. Only after the booking was made did the requirement of a credit card block become apparent. Thus should be highlighted at the first instance. Not in a secondary email.

I used this company for USA rental last year and now for Spain. Really good value and clear explanation of T & Cs

The ‘deal’ was set out clearly, including the total upfront for the full insurance. It was easy to follow the steps to book the vehicle. Website is reasonably clear and easy to navigate - priced in Euros was a help - some other websites are priced in Canadian dollars. Price was OK, not over the top, nor set low with extras added in at the end. Will use them again

On the voucher, even though it said Iberia. Which clearly is T4 in Madrid, you had not passed the info to Europcar so my booked car was in T1 and they charged me 60€ extra to give me a car in T4, where I had landed with Iberia in Madrid.
