Autovía in Bologna Airport:
Autovía in Bologna Airport:
I had a very pleasant experience. The process was smooth and very clear. No hidden costs.
Martina at the desk, was super helpful. Legend!
Charged for $1,000 worth of damage I did not do
Four months after I had returned the car, I receive an email from Autovia stating I did $1,000 in damage to the vehicle - damage I did not do. Despite writing a complaint stating I did not do the damage, they charged my credit card without my authorization. I would avoid this company at all costs.
Awful unethical approach to car hire
Awful unethical approach to car hire. I should have looked at trust pilot before!
Waited two hours at Trapani airport for car hire. At 10pm at night was finally seen dishonest approach to car hire booking had to pay 500 euros more on top of cost. Felt ripped off car had dents before it was even driven dreading from review how this
coaxed into paying additional insurance
The service rep was polite, however i was coaxed into purchasing additional collision insurance, when I expressed it was covered on my visa card. Nonetheless I was told to purchase the lesser amount offered, in case my card did not cover it. Purchasing the extra insurance almost doubled the cost of what I paid for the car rental! Beware when told to take extra insurance. My rental policy stated that it covered "basic" collision insurance which obviously was not enough.
I'd rather go next time back to the other well known international car rentals like budget, avis, so that i can decline the insurance, which I have done in the past.
car hire problems
I booked a car full to full but received a half empty tank. Despite taking photos to show this and that more than half a tank was returned I have been charged 42 Euros for fuel (three weeks later I still haven't been credited back. I have also been charged 415 Euros for a missing parcel shelf which wasn't in the car to begin with (I obviously didn't notice this at first as I was making note of any scratches on the outside) and almost half of this is an admin charge.
if not resolved in the next day or so I will need to request a charge back with my credit card company.
Absolute joke
Absolute joke, no email on any confirmation to get in contact with them. Flight was delayed so lost out on the car. As was 30 mins later and they left the airport. Had no contact number for them
Nothing. PLEASE don’t use just use a taxi it’s easier, this isn’t a cheaper option like I thougt. No refund nothing reviews says it all!!
Terrible level of service
I rented a car with a motor of 1600 cc. When I arrived, the type of car I reserved wasn’t available. The representative said I would get a car in the same category. However, the car they offered had a motor of 1100 cc which I would not accept. Sue to the nature of my trip, I had to upgrade and my cost doubled. The attendants were inflexible, almost rude. I sent a complaint to their email address for complaints, they didn’t respond. I sent the mail several times, nothing, no response. The level of service is unacceptable
Absolutely terrible customer service
Absolutely terrible customer service. We arrived at Treviso airport to pick up our prepaid car only to be told by the rudest employee that we cannot do so since we only had a MasterCard Debit card.
I have travelled around the world many times over and this is the first time a car rental company said will not accept a MasterCard Debit card.
My contract did not mention anything about not accepting a Debit card yet the man at the counter was trying to convince me that it said so even though I had the voucher in printing and I was showing it to him.
Incidentally, what company uses employees in an international airport that cannot communicate in English?
Furthermore, his attitude was totally Unacceptable! He was talking down to me and my wife as if he was some kind of higher form of human being or something.
Thinking of renting a car through Autovia?
Don't. Stay clear.
You have a better chance getting your wheels on a street with rental scooters.
Our ordeal finished when we cancelled our reservation and got a similar priced but pleasant and polite service, through Europcar which is just 20 steps away.
Autovia is the synonym to garbage.
tricking into paying extra insurance
Had a booking at Rome Fiumicino through the broker discovercars.com. The booking included full insurance.
Arriving at the autovia frontdesk after waiting 1.5h and having visibly unsatisfied customers coming before us, the guy tricked us into buying additional insurance because "he had seen so many customers having had to pay large sums after damage to the cars not being covered by the included insurance". Not really being able to know whether right or wrong, I ended up paying the excess insurance amounting to a 50% increase in total cost of my rental and when telling the guy of my dissatisfaction he replied that he "is just the guy at the frontdesk". Whether this problem of lying about the insurance is a problem of discovercars or autovia, I do not know, but this businessmodel is not fair and in any case, wherever the problem lies, the customer should not suffer.
Shame!
The guy who worked at the airport in Florence was very unpleasant and unprofessional. Beware of hidden costs. Still, after more than a month, the deposit is stuck on my account because the agency has not yet sent a cancelation request, tried to contact them via email couple of times but they are not answering.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. Lots of hidden charges. Horrific customer service.Stay away at ALL COSTS. They don't answer phones and pass you on from one person to another.
The car blew up. We had to pay 240 euro for a taxi, they said they would reimburse us and now they are ignoring us.
Everything was a nightmare
Everything was a nightmare - never order a car from here!! I have never experienced anything like it. we waited 2 hours at the airport to be informed if there were no more cars. we could only get a refund if we ordered a smaller car at the same price as the one we had ordered months in advance and suddenly it was not present even though we had paid. WE WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN!!
CHARGED DOUBLE ON ARRIVAL
Our rental experience was absolutely atrocious. Our flight was delayed by 3 hours, however we knew we had given our flight number to Autovia, and could see on Autovia's terms and conditions that as long as we picked up the car within 2 hours of the plane landing, this was within our agreed timeframes. However, despite arriving at the rental desk just 35 minutes after landing, we were told that our car had been given away and our only option was to pay over €200 more and hire a larger car. We tried to show our VIP car booking terms, and were told (rudely) that these were VIP cars terms, not Autovia's. We then went on Autovia's website, where we found the exact same information, and we were told "Hmm, they must be old". Even though we showed them that these terms were on their current website, we were told that we could either pay the additional €200 and have a car, or walk away with nothing. This was extremely disappointing considering we had already paid a deposit through VIP cars and we had paid for additional insurance for this booking. In the end, we had to pay €375 for the car, rather than the €191 we were quoted by VIP cars. This meant that our hire car was almost double the price we expected.
We would also like to just add, that in the car park there were plenty of smaller cars (like the one we had booked). We feel that the staff were extremely rude, were not willing to listen to anything we had to say, and misused their power in the situation. We are inclined to believe that they had not given our cars away, but instead just wanted more money. Despite this, if they HAD given our car away, this would be a direct breach of their own terms and conditions (see 1.8 on terms found in their T+Cs ).
Autovia is the worst rental co.
This co. Should be shut down and out of business. They are a flat out joke. I rented what looked like a new jaguar suv in Rome after is started raining an hour into our trip we realized the entire windshield wiper arm was not working at all on the drivers side. Talk about a dangerous trip from Rome to Milan and everywhere i between with heavy rain at times and steady rain at others. Also the coolant light kept going on. Also NO F’n toll tag in the car. Really? That’s a good way to kill a foreigner on the roads. I paid a lot of $ for this car through Expedia and then had to pay them another $275 for insurance or they wouldn’t give me the car. I should have said ok and went to another car rental co. U are the worst company ever! Beware of these scumbags!
Using trustpilot to create false expectations
Since October and after presenting my complaint in writing to Autovia and afterwards through Trust pilot, this company asked in two occasions more information....Since then silence. We are in May, I have no hope in getting an answer. Bad company and is using Trustpilot to give a false impression that they care....Be aware
Expensive and low quality car without checks and mantainance
Expensive and low quality car. We rented the car from Ecovia/Autovia through Booking.com and it has been a substantial negative experience. The full coverage insurance was expensive (twice the typical fares from other car rentals) and it does not even zeros the amount booked on credit card anyway (just halved). We ware given a Seat Ibiza and the car engine had a problem (loss of power during acceleration) and the window wipes were completely worn out with the gum broken and detached completely. We drove for three days into rainy weather, up and down the hills - therefore it was an unpleasant and risky experience. Overall very expensive and low quality car in which we felt at risk for our lives (family with three kids). They have shown no interest in the customer safety, just interested in making money no matter what. Seriously not worth and therefore not recommended - not at all! Stay away!

They charged me 50euro without any reason any explanation .
Got The car in Lecce city,Italy.
Got The car in Lecce city,Italy. The pick up and return were sort of odd because there is no where to park. Car was as expected. Lancia hybrid. Got excellent MPG. I sort of feel sorry for the guy running the agency. He had to deliver and pick up the car and lock the store and run to the car and back each time.
Stay away! Scammers! Worst experience
Stay away! Very bad experience!
Worst customer service! We rented a car in bari and one in napoli. When we arrived at the airport the office was not open. We went to check if the outdoor office was open and it was also closed. Waited an hour but nobody came. Had to rent a different car. Day after went to pick up our car, no refund received. They keep the bank guarantee blocked on the credit card for 4months. In the end I got the 500eur guarantee back but they try to scan you in every way.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience, like everyone else who has reviewed this company.
Upon return, and noticing I was non-Italian, they spent a full 10 minutes searching for damage to the car, running their hands over the car body and wheel hubs. Finally, at the end, they rubbed their hands underneath the front bumper and found scratches to this composite plastic part. They then charged $130.00 for damage, administrative expense and “loss of use”of the car!
Additionally, this was a Substandard car that had Metano gas as the primary fuel source…yet it’s extremely difficult to find that type gas in Italy. GPL is the standard natural gas product. Since the gasoline tank only had a range of about 50 to 60 miles, you were forced to constantly stop for fuel.
The worst experience I’ve had with a car rental. Run, don’t walk, away from this company!
