Cynical and shameless

Cynical and shameless. There are some good and very caring individuals here, but overall it has slipped a long, long way from its earlier very good intentions. £100k a year for inedible food and minimal staff at the weekend is not the "Rolls Royce' as before, but comes across as more of a cynical money making exercise. The large number of unoccupied rooms tell their own story.

Sensitive and exemplary care

I would like to offer a huge thank you to all involved in the care of our father at Silvermere during the last few months of his life.
He was a fiercely independant individual and despite his own acknowledgement of his failing capabilities and the acceptance that he could not live on his own any longer, it was with great reluctance that he agreed to a short reconnaisance stay in Silvermere.
However, within a few days he had comfortably settled in and was really enjoying his new environment, which he, very quickly and obviously, had begun to regard as ‘home’ and was extremely happy to take up permanent residence.
The family and his Bridge playing friends appreciated the hospitality and friendly atmosphere and all acknowledged that Silvermere was a very pleasant place to both live, visit and spend time with Pop. He was a social man and Silvermere restored some of the friendship and companionship he had lost in recent years as he had become more and more isolated. He became more like his old self.
This along with the views across the lake, the wildlife, including his beloved rabbits that he watched from his door, made Silvermere more akin to a holiday home than residential care.
It is a great shame that Pop could not have enjoyed a longer stay but it is also a great comfort to us and the rest of his family that he ended his days at Silvermere. The sensitive care, friendship and dignity afforded to him by all the staff and other residents was exemplary and very much appreciated, not least by the man himself. He thanked us every time we visited him for making the choice of Silvermere for his care home.
Please do keep up the very excellent work.

the "Rolls Royce" of Care Homes

Finding a suitable care home for a loved one is difficult to say the least.
Silvermere Care Home ( the Rolls Royce of care homes) fitted like a glove.
Overlooking the golf club and lake there is lots to see from the rooms. Outdoor seating in the grounds to sit in the sun and watch the rabbits and birds making themselves at home in the garden
The building is light and airy with rooms decorated to the highest standard
The staff were exceptional in the care and respect shown to the guests and visitors.
Daytime activities for those who want to join in and equally lots of comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy the company of visitors other residents or a library book.

A very nice set up and very pleasant staff

My mother is now residing at silvermere and is very happy except for problems with the food. She complains that meat that is served the majority of the time is tough there are no condiments except for salt and pepper and when salad is served there is no coleslaw etc. apart from that everything is fine. Perhaps a questionnaire for the residents to complete would be a good idea this would then highlight any problems otherwise an excellent care home

A care home who provides care for people who need minimal care.

Manager very obliging and proactive unfortunately the nurse/manager who assesses the prospective residents has obviously a problem with people who need care and is not prepared to take these on. Maybe this place should be renamed to reflect the true nature of their existence. A place for residents to retire to but are not in need for care.

Beautiful but sooooo expensive

I did visit your facility and was immediately impressed. However to most people, I would imagine the cost would be prohibitively expensive. Having said that, ALL care these days is expensive. My ex-husband would love Silvermere I'm sure (he is the person I had in mind when I visited) but we will have to find somewhere that is more affordable.

Kind regards

Sue Harvey

Welcoming and professional

The first thing that struck me was how attentive the staff at Silvermere was as I waited in reception. My subsequent introduction was then professional, no rushing me through different rooms or facilities and full answers received to all questions. I was very impressed by all that I saw and my overall comment is that Silvermere moves care homes to a new level of quality.

Not sure rating system is adequate for an introduction visit

Our meeting was managed in a very caring and thoughtful way. We were given a detailed explanation of the facilities and time given to listen to the needs of out parents.

The tour was comprehensive although with all these things it is so difficult to get under the skin of the business and really see what goes on behind closed doors. That said the staff and residents all seemed very happy and content at Silvermere albeit a little empty as it is so new. The rooms were generous in size and were light and airy, some backing onto the garden and a golf course and lake. The open areas were also a pleasant escape if you felt the need to come away from the confines of your room and meet other residents. This is not a cheap option by any means but if you can afford it i suspect. you won't be disappointed.

The most amazing 5* Care Home - Brilliant smiling Carers, beautiful decor and delicious food.

I visited Silvermere and was made most welcome by the Client Services Director. She spent two hours listening to the needs of my mother and showed me round the whole facility. Each spacious bedroom has a sitting area and an ensuite bathroom with fully fitted assisted showering facilities.
There is a large reception area with cafe offering drinks and home-made cakes and cookies all day.
The communal sitting room is like a smart hotel with several comfortable areas where families can gather round and chat. A small library offers a more private area and offers a big computer screen for Skype calls out to family and friends.
The dining experience serves excellent quality, nourishing food with a great choice. Family members can join for meals by arrangement.
I was so impressed my Mother moved in 5 days later. She is so happy - her days are spent doing sit-down Tai Chi, Zumba and other exercise classes. Silvermere's team organise trips out to local RHS and NT gardens, and coffee across the lake at the local golf course - keeping up good links with the outside world.
The care team are so wonderful, always smiling and very patient.
Absolutely 5 stars!

Quality.

An old friend and bridge partner moved into Silvermere earlier this year, with some reluctance. Loss of independence, loss of self ability etc etc, well he was 91! Within days, he was 'at home' and singing praises! I and other friends played bridge with him at Silvermere; he was a different person, seemed younger, more alert, very relaxed and very happy! Through my eyes, the entire fabric from building, to style, to staff was first class. Certainly worth a visit....and the location.....equally stunning.

I would recommend Silvermere 100%.
