Very happy with the service given, easy pick up without being oversold on the extras. Easy drop off, with no issues. I would use again.

Dude at the Zadar airport was condescending on the phone when I called and needed help with the car. “Its very simple miss this is a very basic thing” Being condescending doesnt help me.

I have been hiring holiday rentals for 30 years but this is the first time I have had an awful experience. On picking up the car we had to wait an hour as the car was not ready, we were then asked to take fully comprehensive insurance, on advising we already had this they replied ‘but not with us’, which should have warned us what was to follow. On collecting the car we checked the inside and all around outside as normal and the car had no damage at all.
We used the car just to drive to/from the airport. We checked the condition before delivering back to the airport just to make sure but we knew there was no damage. On arrival at Pula airport a girl was sent out to inspect the car. She proceeded to lie on her back on the tarmac and look under the car, to which she said there was scratches on the inside of the bumper! This was not checked by them or us when the car was picked up and we were charged 275 euros! I do not believe we had incurred this damage and believe this was a scam probably used by the company as we did not take their own insurance. Beware Avia Pula airport and do not use
Just in reference to your response they did not lie on their backs and look under the car in front of me and this has never happened before, gosh the road to and from the airport must have been bad 😂no docs or pictures were ever emailed to me, Discover Cars had to chase you. I will let future clients decide who to believe

We were misled by Avia into purchasing additional products we didn’t need. We had already bought full protection through an external insurance provider, RentalCover, but were told it would not be accepted and that we had to purchase Avia’s own insurance. Unfortunately, we agreed under pressure.
Additionally, we were advised that it would be more economical to choose their fuel option, where they would refill the tank upon return. This also turned out to be misleading.
In total, we ended up paying extra, approximately €235 extra due to this poor and misleading advice. It feels like we were taken advantage of — they acted more like salespeople than a trustworthy rental agency.
Dear Avia Team,
Thank you for your response.
I would like to clarify that both my wife and I had Mastercard credit cards with us at the time of pick-up. However, we were not asked whether we had a credit card, nor were we given the option to use it for the required deposit pre-authorization.
Had we been informed that presenting a credit card would have allowed us to decline the additional insurance and avoid the mandatory fuel option, we would certainly have chosen that route. We feel that this important detail was not communicated to us at the counter.
We understand and respect standard industry practices, but we kindly ask you to review this case, as we believe we were not provided with the appropriate information or options available to us at the time.
Thank you for your attention.
Best regards, Michael N. Hansen

On arrival at 4pm we were told that as we had booked the car from midday, our booking had now expired and we would need to pay a further 160 Euros for a different car. This was not made clear at the point of booking. Neither was the cleaning fee paid at the end. It felt as if staff members were pleased to have 'caught us out'. Would absolutely never use this service again.

Hello,
I was OBLIGED to take out additional insurance (€242) on the pretext that my credit card could not be debited from the deposit!!
Moreover, I had to pay an additional fee of €50 to return the vehicle at 7am instead of 8am because my flight was leaving at 8:30am!!
Moreover, I had booked a vehicle with air conditioning and the one that was assigned to me did NOT have one!! therefore more expensive vehicle and WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING!! I find this SCANDALOUS
I am therefore REALLY DISAPPOINTED with my rental!!

I was force to pay a full insurance (more expensive than the car itself) because my bank card was a "debit card" and not a "credit card" and the guarantee could not be "paied" with this kind of card.
I already booked a car and pay guarantee with this card, all went well, but the agent at the front desk did not want to try.
Also, she did not want to use my wife's card (which was a credit card) despite the fact she was here and can provide ID, and even add her name on the contract.
It looks like forced selling for the insurance, as we did not have any other choice

I had a great experience with this car rental company. Both the pickup and return of the vehicle were very smooth and hassle-free. The car was in excellent, almost new condition, and everything worked perfectly. The staff was friendly, professional, and competent. I would definitely rent here again and can highly recommend their service.

Very disappointing experience with Avia Zadar. I was asked to pay an unreasonable €323 for a small scratch on the plastic wheel cover — no idea how it got there. No proper inspection was done when I picked up the car, but during return they searched for any excuse to charge extra. Felt dishonest and unprofessional.

I was forced to buy cleaning service.
Either that or clean in my self (in and outside) before return.
Never ever had similar requirements or discussions with any other company.
I payed, but very confused and disappointed.

We were an hour and a half late for pickup (from the airport — not everything goes smoothly as one would hope), and they demanded an additional €40 to "reactivate" our reservation. An unreasonable charge with no real justification considering the rental was €25 per day.
They were also extremely petty about the cleaning of the car and insisted we pay for cleaning because the trunk was dirty — of course, we refused.
In short, I probably wouldn’t recommend this company, as it felt like no matter what I did, I’d be considered in the wrong and end up having to pay.

Car was good. However, when we rented the car, staff were very pushy for us to purchase lots of additions, cleaning, fuel etc..Despite us purchasing an extra insurance when we initially booked the car, upon pick up the staff claimed that we still needed to purchase further insurance and it was the wrong insurance??? This all added to a very lengthy check in process of more than 45 mins. This is interesting as we were also charged 50 Euros for being late (out of our control due to our flight being delayed and substantial queues at passport control). I also found staff very rude at check in, impolite and unfriendly. Ironically check out staff were helpful, swift and very clear on explanations. Unfortunately I will not be using rhem again and absolutely DO NOT reccommend them.

During my recent rental with AurumCars at Zadar Airport, I was pressured into purchasing an additional insurance policy I neither wanted nor needed. Although I presented a valid physical VISA credit card, the staff on site refused to accept it, claiming it was issued by a virtual bank — despite it being a standard, physical card. They insisted that unless I purchased their additional insurance, I would not be allowed to pick up the vehicle.
This experience felt deceptive and coercive. I had already booked a rental through CHECK24 that included a sufficient insurance policy covering excess reimbursement. The additional product sold to me was unnecessary and costly.
To improve, AurumCars should:
1. Respect valid payment methods – If a credit card meets all requirements and is physically present, it should be accepted.
2. Be transparent – Customers should not be misled or pressured into buying extras under false pretenses.
3. Train staff better – The rental desk should inform, not intimidate. Clear communication and respectful service are essential.
4. Align with partner platforms – If bookings through partners like CHECK24 include coverage, this must be honored without pushing redundant products.
I strongly advise AurumCars to revise their local procedures to ensure a fair and trustworthy rental experience.
EDIT (20.07.2025, 11:40 a.m. CEST): I used a physical credit card issued by Bank Norwegian (a licensed bank within NOBA Bank Group). This card has been accepted by other rental companies for deposit holds without issue. The refusal by AurumCars remains, in my view, unjustified.

Robert at the Counter was very good! Met him last year and hope to see him next year.
What I dont like this time was the new clean to clean policy…dont know why you do this but I mean its normal for a rental, if you have over used or made some realy nasty dirty on the car or inside there is a extra cleaning charge.
I had a car with many scratches but it was all in the system. Tank wasnt full full but it was ok for me.(should have told robert) returning no complains.top! 4 stars because of this…otherwise 5!

We rented a car and, although we had a Visa credit card, they didn’t accept it because it wasn’t from a physical bank on their list. That forced us to use another card and pay for a higher insurance level we didn’t want.
The service itself was good. The car was great — we booked a Mini but got a brand new Peugeot 2008 instead, which was a nice surprise.
The check-in process was very slow, and they try to sell you a bunch of extras you don’t need.
We had to pay €50 just to take the car to another island. That price would’ve been the same even if we were going to several islands or abroad, which seems a bit much.
But the €9 cleaning fee was totally worth it — saved us hassle at the end.

Pick up Pula airport was good although it was a first to be asked to pay 12 euros to avoid a cleaning. Return at Split airport was very poor. Took ages for them to check the car in and seemed determined to find something to charge me for. Eventually they managed to find a small mark on the wheel and a 2 mm cut to a tyre so proceeded to charge me £360 for a tyre. ( tyres must be very expensive in Croatia)Fortunately I had car hire excess insurance. Having hired cars for many years this was the worst experience I’ve had. Don’t mind paying if I damage a car but this was just ripping me off. Would not recommend using this company

I arrived 40 minutes late for my flight. They hadn't delivered the car I had reserved because they said the computer had canceled it. They offered me an automatic, which I didn't want, with an additional charge, claiming they didn't have any other. Furthermore, despite purchasing insurance in advance, they informed me that by purchasing it on a website other than theirs, they wouldn't guarantee my coverage. They insisted on purchasing the insurance through them, which would incur another additional charge.
Furthermore, the car had numerous dents and dings, the air conditioning was barely working, and the service was poor.
