Very good and extended posibilities to learn a language. Also a lot of nice extra information of the customs of the country.

It is too much geared towards students, but other people/grown ups/adults)
(real adults - age 40,50,60 or more!)
like or need to learn as well.
The explanations are sometimes a bit confusing/difficult.

Babbel is well structured across the different levels and has a great range of lessons for reading, writing, listening and speaking.
I like the interface a lot - easy and intuitive - and this matters as it encourages me to keep using the app.
Great range of languages to choose from also.

I like the variation of learning modes, the subject matter and pace is also very good.
A couple of things for improvement, sometimes when choosing options, multiples of the same option show up. Also, quite often the sound seems to stop on certain dialogues, then it comes back again.

I love the app! Maybe a good idea to make a section purely for learning and repeating words..?

There are cute photos with every question.
You hear real people speaking not text-to-speech
Much better than another well known language app.

I bought Babbel for Portuguese, but it doesn’t have any advanced Portuguese, very few lessons until B1 only…
Very disappointing.
We need more advanced lessons for B2 and C1!
Please expand the course, like the other languages. It’s not fair otherwise.

I tried this method of learning Spanish for about 3 weeks. I did it every day, and I did not find that it was the right approach for me. There was a lack of repetition, a lack of immersion. The lessons moved on after brief introductions and it never felt like there was sufficient time or practice for things to really click. The approach to writing and practicing/reviewing what I had learned was also so automated that I didn’t feel I was doing enough work to make things stick. I found I kept wishing I could just go back to by Freshman high school introductions to Spanish class!
In addition to that, the company will not give me a partial refund for an annual membership. I don’t remember seeing a 20 day money back guarantee. At 24 days of daily lessons and review, I felt I had given the program a decent chance, and asked for a partial refund. They will not. I now have 11 more months of this, and I can’t get out of it, and I don’t feel it is effective anyway. Very disappointed in the product and the company.

A very good app. You can go back and review older lessons. Sometimes the voices are too quick to understand.

Bought a Lifetime Subscription as a surprise gift for my partner so he could learn my native language, Danish.
It's really good, and in-depth. Has told him about my culture and everything.
The problem lies with the most important, and difficult part of the language, for non-Danish speakers to learn: Speaking.
The speech recognition they use is VERY hit or miss. But it feels like 60% of the time he'll pronounce something spot-on, and it'll just tell him he said it wrong.
To the point where I, a person who's lived in Denmark their entire life, picks up the tablet and talks into the microphone...
Just for it to say I said it wrong.
Paid quite a lot for the Lifetime Subscription, it's frustrating that it doesn't give him positive feedback on learning a core part of the language.

I like the way that the lessons are arranged in levels, teaching grammar etc and in topics, developing vocabulary and providing opportunities to practice the grammar learnt.

It's really interactive and confidence boosting.
However, some examples don't examine all the verb conjugations, thereby generating some uncertainty in knowledge.
Also, the "review" exercise is limited to a finite number of examples, before one is forced to begin a new lesson. It would be advantageous to have the choice of taking more reviews.

Diversity of subjects and situations addressed. Clear explanation of grammatical rules .
What could be improved is the size and or letter type of the letters used to form the words learned in al lesson. It is difficult to distinguish l and I for example

Reply from Babbel
I would have given it five stars but the streak feature annoys me in that one is not rewarded with breaks according to the length of the streak.
The actual learning experience is five stars

Good app. Very expensive compared to other apps, particularly considering the live language support with real people is removed and the podcasts are only available in 4 languages.

By showing the correct endings for words and the reason for different endings, this helps learners to understand the working of the language.

German once a day - stimulating and enjoyable. Impressed with the seemingly likely conversations. So impressed that I bought a lifetime membership intending to learn Italian, Dutch, Spanish and maybe a Scandinavian language or two.

I think that babble could add more languages, for example, Japanese. I do so far like the lesson and app format
