I paid for a £300 sleeping bag which never arrived and when l tried to phone them it was always an automated service. I became suspicious when the tracking number was identical to their own phone number. I finally contacted Fraud UK who confirmed they were most likely a scam company. I looked up their company address on Google Earth and it's actually some nondescript housing estate.

Backpackingforever.de has never delivered the promised good which was ordered 3 weeks ago and paid shortly thereafter. They claim to have sent the good to DHL, but cannot come up with a tracking code. They have numerous times promised to report back with information about the tracking code, but have never done so. Several times have their hotlines just been answering machines. The person manning their hotline seems quite trained in stalling and evading - he never felt the slightest helpfull. The case is now referred to my bank. This is most likely a scam operation - I suspect positive reviews are fake. This is the first time I have ever experienced this when buying on the internet.

Wrote them 3 times. No reply at all.

I ordered a backpack several months ago and never received it. My money was taken away. Nobody answered my mails and phone calls. Do not use this website !!

My order (a Patagonia jacket with 40% off retail price) arrived within 10 days. Reading the other comments here I realise I was either lucky or they have improved their processes.

I ordered a pair of sandals. I was sent the wrong colour, so I returned them. I was lucky to get my money back - except what it costed to return the sandals. It has now cost me 12 euro to try to buy a pair of sandals.

Backpackingforever has never anwered any of emails.

I ordered two pair of hiking boots with a 50% discount on store prices.
The same day I received an orderconfirmation by mail.
And now, 3 days later, they're on my foot.
The boots are in a great condition no marks, scratches or other defects.
I will be back for sure! Thank you BackpackingForever.

Ordered a jacket that was supposed to be in stock. Got an order confirmation and the payment was immediately drawn from my account. The days went by without nothing much happening, so after a week or so a dropped them a mail but got no response. Then another one also without any reaction.

Some two weeks after my order, I noticed that the payment had been refunded to my account without a word from the vendor.

If you wish to lend someone your money without interest, I strongly recommend this supplier.

I purchased a jacket from this site - but never heard anything back. Two weeks passed, and suddenly the jacket was out of stock. The vendor did not even bother to tell me. Luckily I used PayPal and managed to get the money back.

The first rule of online shopping: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Prices look amazing, but on my first order (quickly shipped and processed), I received the wrong product (good reference, good size but wrong color).
It was supposed to be still available however, so I ordered it a second time, while returning the wrong one (I was refunded for this one). Then after having waited three times longer than the first time, the item was declared unavailable and I've been refunded (always using PayPal). A big joke in fact !

I ordered several items. Two items were out of stock (merino icebreaker briefs and merino incebreaker tracer pants). They've promised me to refund the purchase amount of these items and they've even sended a creditmemo. However, they never paid back the money. I send several e-mails. Some of them were responded by a guy named Mathias Schwingel. Other e-mails were never replied. I have a feeling that they're not really scamming beacause I got half of my order but it is a case of total chaos and mismanagement.

I started to order as a guest on their side. I never got a confirmation from them on my mail. The money they had raise, I could see in my bank account. I ordered one more order in the hope it would recover, but only got a few things from there. My bank has been trying to get the money back, but that was gone for a long time. Have lost in 2900 kr. at Backpackingforever.de. They should be closed down. Never buy from them!

So after ten days i finally got the bag i ordered, but backpackingforever got the color wrong. But after reading the others reviews i feel lucky for just getting something. I wish i had read the the reviews before ordering from backpackingforever!!

I ordered a baby carry backpack and checked Trust Pilot reviews afterwards. I was chocked to see the reviews, and expected that my money was wasted. Fortunately I read that the company had changed payment structure and the fact that I paid by PayPal made it a bit comforting. So my money was not withdrawn until the package was sent off. However, shipping is a bit slow and they write they send it by DHL, but mine was sent by regular mail. No problem but I expected a track and trace number, so was still a bit concerned until the package arrived. It was shipped in a huge used cardboard box, but the item was undamaged. I ordered a red backpack, which was confirmed on my invoice but the backpack I received was grey. Not a big deal considering the reviews here on Trust Pilot. I also managed to get a discount, where you enter a specific code upon ordering the product.

When I log in I also need some more information on my order. Once it was placed I could not see my order any longer, making me worried if I had wasted my money.

I hope everybody will get the products that they have ordered and that Backpackingforever will improve on their information to the customers and keep their promises as to what they write on their website.

Ordered gaiters and dryback just before X-mas. Received the goods at the beginning of January. Dryback was different color than ordered, but further all was ok.
Shipping box was reused shoe box, delivery was made by DHL GoGreen.
Maybe the take over and restructuring of the Backpackingforever.de store has improved the service. The future will tell.

Since my order and payment for 2 pairs of Scarpa shoes in early August 2013, I received 1 pair of shoes 5 weeks after the order and as at 13 Jan 2014, I have yet to receive the other pair OR receive a refund, despite numerous emails to BackpackingForever.
To be informed after placing the order & making payment for both pairs of shoes that 1 pair was not yet available is a deceptive business practice (something that Amazon does not practice).
In general, BackpackingForever have demonstrated that they are unreliable, deceptive, overcharge on the currency conversions, use automated reply emails instead of a personal email from an individual, take way too long to deliver the goods that have been purchased (if they deliver at all), do not inform the customer if the goods are in stock or available and accept payment for the goods even if the goods are not in stock or unavailable.
I am still trying to get them to either send me the goods I have paid for OR refund my money - both of which they seem reluctant to do, that alone communicate with me personally about the dispute.
I would highly recommend NOT BUYING from BackingForever.

After a long list of trouble I can only recommend not to buy anything from BFE:

- Ordered three items but BFE could not deliver the full order.
- Shipping fee was added even though the website said free shipping for the order amount.
- All money were withdrawn right away (including items that could not be delivered).
- When BFE realized that they could not deliver the full order, they by mistake refunded all money.
- BFE ask me to pay the money once again for the items received (which is of course fair). They do this by placing a new order but this time the shipping fee is twice of my original order (which was suppose to be free).
- I contact BFE and explain the misunderstanding with the double shipping fee. I pay the money for the items received.
- I get confirmation from BFE that they have received the money, but they still need for the shipping. I explain once again that the double shipping fee is a misunderstanding. I hear no more from BFE.
- Two months later I receive a letter from Inkasso Company charging me the full order including additional ~100 euro fine.
- Now, three months after I placed my original order, I still haven't got confirmation that the case is closed.

Ordered, payed but nothing received. Tried contacting them by phone on all available phone numbers but none of these worked. Mailed them, but only received automated answers - never, ever trade with this company. Six months after ordering I still haven't received the goods I ordered and I have not had the money returned either.

Don't ever bye from this site. Made order in early november. They took the money the same day, but I have never received my order. I am not able to contact them on either mail or telephone.

And they even try to hide their reviews on Trustpilot and other sites.
