An essential piece of gear for travelling?
Hip packs are useful for quickly accessing stuff (passports, tickets, wallets etc) without having to take off your back pack or search in various clothing pockets.
The PACSAFE ‘Vibe 100 Hip Pack’ is the perfect size for my needs – big enough to hold all the small things in one place, while not being too big that it looks like an extra back pack round the waist.
It’s not over complicated with too many pockets – there is a smaller one in the front containing a clip for keys and the main one which has a padded divider & a small pocket closable with Velcro.
All the zips can be ‘locked’ together making it impossible for pickpockets to quickly open the pack without you knowing about it (as long as you remember to ‘lock’ them, not just close the zips!)
The waist band also has a lock, again making it very difficult to quickly open it and take the hip pack away.
It is nicely padded, so you can carry electronic gadgets in safety, and separated so cellphone/tablet screens won’t get scratched.
The hip pack comes into its own when travelling by plane – it can hold your wallet, cellphone, Kindle, tablet, earphones, keys, passport & ticket (even a camera can be squeezed in too) – all the things you need for boarding, and the rest for entertainment (and keeping your valuables with you). No more deciding what to take out of your hand luggage for the flight (and holding up other boarding passengers while you do that) it’s all in one place.
The materials used & build quality look very good so I’m sure this hip pack will last for a very long time.
It may be more expansive than most hip packs, but better to buy a quality product once which lasts, than be disappointed with several different ones that fall apart and cause frustration...quality over quantity.
