Tried their service for 2 items, which I know for a fact are 230g each. Upon arrival of the goods, a single item was weighed at 800g after packaging. When I asked to combine both items, they simply double the weight to 1.6kg. I'd give around 200g for packaging, at most 300g with LOTS of protective materials. Mind you, Japan Post charges via actual weight unlike USPS, which uses dimensional weight. When inquired, they simply said it's due to packaging materials and refuse to confirm the actual weight. So basically they overcharge by 1kg, easy money. Unreliable and never will try again.
WORST experience EVER! AVOID THIS ONE AT ALL COST!
So apparently they never admit their mistakes but accusing the JP post instead oh! and the customers, they blame you for not being able to understand the situation/problem, when the whole story was their own ignorance and lack of commitment at service.
they forgot to dispose some items at my request and e
thus extra charge was incurred. no refund, no SORRYs.
they also forgot to include one of my order when grouping everything, yet they tried their best making up a story of parcel being returned by the JP post. but they couldn’t even provide a tracking number for the return.
then they simply threatened you the customer of declining your future service.
?seriously? who dare to use it again anyway?
be kind to yourself and AVOID this company! RUN!

Very bad customer service! I’m still in Japan and am about to leave so I thought of using the services of this company in the future. Every time I call their number, they say nobody can speak English and asked me to email them instead. I only got one response from them but that’s after I asked for a follow up multiple times! The response was not even helpful, so I clarified it and after a week, I got no reply! It’s a very bad customer service considering this is a Japanese company! What a disgrace! How about when I actually start doing business with them when money is already involved? So many red flags!
Before all went so well for many years.
This time, I opt for using DHL for my shipment but for strange reason they use UPS instead and this cause a serious delay. When I asked for my shipping fee back since UPS has a guarantee service and Baggageforward refused. And they are very unenthusiastic about my enquiry about the delay and refuse to help contact UPS at first, After a second email they get UPS to look into the shipment, returned with the usual covid19 causing delay and stuff like that excuse. And Baggageforward think that is enough for them and stop following the delay all together. I suggest anyone think about using their service to give it a second thought. Their fees were not cheap to start, but now it's getting steeper. There are plenty of forwarder nowadays, not sad to say goodbye.
Very bad attitude and customer service.
1. No bodies contacts me about my shipping option and switched the courier.
2. I asked them to throw two of my packages from Japan warehouse because of ordering mistake, and they didn't!!! Without telling me, I had to pay for extra shipping and duties until I got the baggage in Canada and realized they never throw out. No feedback or apology from anyone.
I used them last month. They were quick with packaging the items for consolidation. They also provide COD. They have a lot of add on fees compared to other proxy / forwarding services. When I received my package, they lost an item that was part of a set. How can this be possible if it came in the same package? I have no idea ... They take out your items from the original package to check them apparently. I read another review from a Japanese user that said they had missing items too. At best, they have serious disorganization skills. At worst, there might be looting going on over there.
Before I got the package, I contacted them about some questions concerning my package being shipped. They were slow to ship out a package (even though it said it was shipped, it didn't get shipped until like three or four days later). They never replied to any of the e-mails or messages I sent even through their website contact box.
I was worried they wouldn't reply to my message on the missing item, so I set up a PayPal dispute (not a claim, the claim would mean PayPal is involved), meaning that it'd be just me and Baggageforward to solve the issue through PayPal's website. This I thought would be the only logical solution to get their attention since they weren't replying to e-mails. Unfortunately, they took this as an affront, said it was against their terms and within hours immediately closed my account and the "investigation" on the item (I doubt they ever had an investigation. If they did they wouldn't have closed my account). So I lost half of an item that was part of a set though they refunded my shipping charge, which probably wouldn't have happened if I didn't use PayPal.
Use them at your own risk.
I was scammed by them. The tracking number was invalid. No response at all from them.
I’ve been using BaggageForward Japan pretty much since they opened for business over a decade ago. I must say their overall service level went down drastically in the past few years and I am not happy at all. Just recently a package they sent never arrived so I contact them via email and never got a response (as well, there were other issues) which is appalling considering you’re paying top $$$ for their service. I’m done with this company and won’t be using them again.
