Outstanding customer care

As someone needing therapist insurance for the first time this year, I really appreciated the level of support and care I received from Balen’s. I was fortunate enough to meet David Balen himself in India, who highly recommended the company, even in retirement.

I dealt with Joyce, Mae and, most recently, Scott, and all were incredibly empathetic, knowledgeable, patient with my many questions, and very efficient whenever changes needed to be made.

Although Balen’s wasn’t the cheapest option I looked at, their outstanding customer care made the decision easy. They gave me a level of confidence and reassurance that their competitors simply didn’t.

I’ve been with Balens since qualifying as a health coach in 2024. I’ve just changed how I work (group coaching to evergreen coaching/membership) and I needed my policy to reflect this and provide worldwide cover. I had a lot of questions!

Bethen was extremely thorough, patient and explained things clearly. And she took the time to phone me to clarify details and ensure my policy met my needs. She also responded to emails in a timely manner.

Outstanding customer service

As a company we have been insured with Balens for 6 years. Our comapny has grown in this time and staff been added and changes have had to be made to our policy in real time. The whole time we have used Balens Sarah Dyer has been our liaison. She is proactive and efficient. Can make changes within the hour. She is kind so knowledgeable and responsive. She has always given the best service. Even when we have been slow to respond because of busy clinics. Sarah has called and emailed and gently prompted to ensure we always have appropriate cover. The cover Balens supply is bespoke and understands the nature of our company and even with the outstanding service remains an affordable price. We would never go any where else and Sarah is a true credit to the company. Thanks for putting up with us.

Excellent service and excellent professional named Mae

Mae from the Customer Services Team has been absolutely exceptional from the very first call. She has provided me with plentiful information to make informed decisions. She has given me excellent advice within the remit of her position. She has kept me updated and made contact with me so that I haven’t had to chase updates. I feel confident that my insurance covers my areas of work, which other companies found hard to define or describe and were very unhelpful. By contrast Mae is so knowledgeable about all aspects of my industry and service provision that I have absolutely certainty in the cover being aligned to my professional needs. This means I feel safe, secure and confident in delivering services that are insured accurately and fully. I am very happy with the outcome and Mae is an asset to Balens.

Excellent service

I have been insured by Balens for more than 20 years. The service is second to none for independent therapists. It's always easy to get advice on the phone. I have only ever met with a polite, helpful, efficient response. The rates are excellent whether you are a sole person operating in your local area or internationally. Very competitive pricing.

Highly recommend Balens insurance

I met Sarah Dyer from Balens at the Therapy Expo in November 2025 and was immediately impressed by how personable, approachable, and knowledgeable she was. She followed up with an email straight after we met and clearly communicated her response timeframes, which made the whole process feel smooth and well-managed from the start.

Despite it being over the busy Christmas period, Sarah remained prompt, professional, and reliable. She kept in touch throughout, answered all my questions thoroughly, and even took the time to call me to make sure everything was on track.

As a clinical case manager, occupational therapist, vocational rehabilitation practitioner and massage therapist, it was essential that my insurance was set up correctly to support my move into self-employment in the new year. Sarah made sure everything was in place, explained everything clearly, and ensured I felt confident and prepared.

I highly recommend Balens, Sarah, and the wider team. They are professional, efficient, and genuinely client-focused, while still being warm and personable. It was a pleasure working with them, and I would not hesitate to recommend their services to other health professionals.

Professional, supportive, responsive, kind and human

I have been with Balens since 2016 and I have never needed to claim, until 2024. I was being wronged by this complaint and I felt totally over whelmed throughout the 18 month process. Lewis Green was placed as my Claims Manager for Balens and was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. In fact the whole Company is fantastic. I was treated with consideration, time and respect. They supported me and advocated for me considerably.
Any day or time I called Lewis with an update, or to receive advise on my 'next move' he responded with such professionalism within the scope of his practice and a kindness that was just what I needed. This all sounds a bit gushy, but I was in such need of support as an individual independent therapist.
Lewis directed me to a brilliant solicitor who was pivotal to the case closing and 'nothing to answer'. What a relief. What a brilliant decision to join Balens all those years ago!
My deepest thank you to Balens Team, Lewis Green and Paul Grant.
