The worst bank ever

The worst bank ever. Can never resolve any problems at all. They have sent me 5 new cards and never get the address right. So I am, as usual, without a card. Talking to them is useless.

Awful bank

Awful bank. I sent tax information by post to my branch and unable to send it via their website. They did not tell me my account had been moved to another branch and they did not forward my tax information. My account then blocked and Suma (rates not paid). Now in Spain trying to sort it all out.

a 1920s bank operating in 2025

a 1920s bank operating in 2025. Simple operations are turned into dramas and multiple phone calls to customer service, where you get 8 different versions of what needs to happen next. I have been a customer for 7 years and I will be moving all my money to another bank, it honestly takes an unbelievable amount of complaining and moaning for anything to happen, not acceptable by any means. Easily the worst bank I have had in my life

SolBank, total blank

Been with them for over 15 years, in that time I have had to deal with cards being sent to addresses I have never lived at, branches denying money hadnt been taken from a cashpoint and only admitting it hadnt when the security department got involved, increasing rudeness and indifference from staff at my branch, hopeless banking app that makes simple things like trying to find your Iban no. similar to a Lara Croft "Tomb Raider" quest and then, to cap it all, expecting you to pay 60€ a quarter for the privilege of using the bank at all. There are better banks, with better service, offering the same services and features ("Well, we have Bizum" sneered the manager of my branch after I asked what i recieve for my money...he looked slightly surprised when I pointed out that Bizum is not exclusive to SolBank) for FREE, with better designed apps, interest and exchange services. The attitude at my branch when I told them I was closing the account was complete apathy.

Awful bank and should be avoided

Sabadell are years behind a normal banking system. You can only do certain transactions at certain times. Different rules in different branches. Staff aren’t knowledgable on a wide enough range of areas. Staff are also beyond rude and so slow. Three ‘managers’ will sit doing not very much while there’s a line of people out the door waiting for the one teller working. I won’t be banking with them for much longer.

Customer service like in North Korea

I didn't receive my new debit card which was supposedly sent by Sabadell bank to my residential address in Torremolinos. I went to the bank office located on Plaza Costa del Sol. First I was thinking I was lucky because at that time there was almost no waiting line... normally you have to wait for about an hour or so. I used the bank's recently implemented call-waiting system to be notified when a teller becomes available. I got a ticket with a number. First I was feeling like everything is working fine until my number get called by a banker. I said Holá, buenas tardes but I didn't receive any greetings back. Instead the female banker said to me: "This is not your ticket! This is not your ticket!" I politely replied saying that it is for sure my ticket because I just got it from the machine in the bank. She didn't apologize instead she insisted that I took the ticket from some lady. The whole starting conversation was just bizarre and I had absolutely no idea what I am accused of or what I am doing wrong. After this I got insulated again when the banker asked me if I speak English because I don't understand what does it mean this is not your ticket. Finally I got the courage to ask her about my new debit card not being delivered to my home address. She made a face like she could care less about my card. After she checked what's the situation she said that the card was delivered to my address listed in my account which is not in Spain. I said that it is not possible because I have received multiple confirmation messages in my banking app that the card was sent to my address in Torremolinos. Then she said without any explanation that the card was sent to my address in Torremolinos but that she can't help me. She actually said that sentence like five times: "I can't help you!" The last thing I have heard from her was ironically... "Anything else I can help you with?!"

I am deeply disappointed with the way…

I am deeply disappointed with the way Banco Sabadell has managed my account. Without any prior warning or communication, they revoked my overdraft — a decision that directly impacted my financial stability. This is not only unprofessional, but deeply irresponsible.

Furthermore, the bank seems to be making its clients pay for its own poor decisions, including the failed and chaotic attempt to merge with BBVA. Instead of taking responsibility for internal mismanagement, Sabadell continues to shift the burden onto everyday customers.

I strongly advise others to reconsider banking with Sabadell if they value transparency, empathy, and ethical treatment.

DISGUSTED!

Totally disgusted with tge absolute ineptitude of what is laughably called customer service of Sabadell.
I've been trying to get a second card sent out for literally months. This .morning the agent told me it was sent out but quoted the wrong address attached to my account. This is just one example of my disappointing dealings with this bank.
Leaving!

Terrible experience

Terrible experience – Avoid this bank at all costs

My experience with Banco Sabadell in Sitges has been absolutely disastrous. Since moving from Spain to Amsterdam in 2022, I have faced a never-ending series of serious problems, mismanagement, and broken promises:
• Account closure never processed: Despite multiple formal requests (in person, by email, and through official complaints), my account remains open and continues to generate unjustified charges.
• Unjust overdraft fees: I have been charged over €500 in overdraft fees, even after covering any outstanding balances—often without any proper notification.
• Constant technical failures: The banking app has been consistently dysfunctional, making it impossible to manage my account remotely while living abroad.
• Nonexistent communication: Emails to account managers like Mónica Romero Bordallo and others were largely ignored. Promised follow-ups (within 48 hours) never happened, even after months of waiting and multiple visits.
• Broken promises and endless delays: Confirmed appointments were repeatedly rescheduled without notice, and issues were never resolved despite repeated assurances.
• Insurance issues and abusive practices: We had all our insurance policies through Sabadell. When we first tried to cancel, they claimed we had “missed a confirmation phone call” and therefore charged us for another full year. The second year, we went directly to the branch, got the cancellation confirmed in writing, signed and stamped by the bank—and still, they falsely claimed again that we missed a call (without ever providing any proof) and charged us for another year. It took three full years, more than ten in-person visits, and we literally had to raise our voices at the staff to finally get the insurance policies canceled.
This behavior strongly suggests that this organization is completely fraudulent.

This entire situation caused significant stress, financial loss, and wasted an enormous amount of time.
I strongly urge everyone to stay away from Banco Sabadell.

Worst bank in the world

Worst bank I have ever dealt with. My late father opened an investment account over 10 years ago. My mum inherited it and Sabadell wouldn't allow her to close it. I've now inherited it from my mother and Sabadell won't let me close it. There is only €100 in the account but I'm required to go in person to various different offices in Spain and even then nothing can be done. But Sabadell require me to have an account, because I own this investment account. As others have said, this is a nonsensical Kafkaesque nightmare.

They can't understand that 3…

They can't understand that 3 transactions are different and not the same. There is absolutely no logic in their conversations and the slightest desire to help clients. The impression they make is that they have many clients and they don't care about you at all. A typical problem for all banks in Spain. An absolutely rotten system that is not capable of competition. When will this end, will someone create a normal bank in Spain?

One-Star Experience

One-Star Experience – Because Zero Isn’t an Option
If you’re looking for a bank that will turn everyday banking into a Kafkaesque nightmare, Banc Sabadell is the place for you!

My husband and I made the grave mistake of trying to upload our income proofs through my online banking login — after wrestling with their non-functional mobile app. No warning, no error message, just a sudden account block as a reward for following their own instructions. Apparently, daring to submit documents for two people through one login is high treason in Sabadell-land.

Cue two months of endless calls to customer support, each time being assured that “just one more thing” would solve it all. Plot twist: it never did. Until today — my sixth call — when I was casually informed, with the enthusiasm of a bored rock, that the account is magically unblocked and those same documents are now fine. No explanation. No apology.

And the cherry on top? When I asked for a refund for the overdraft fees racked up during this bureaucratic circus — despite my best efforts to resolve the issue and even attempts to pay through multiple channels — the answer was a cold, robotic no. No supervisor, no empathy, no human decency.

If you enjoy being gaslit by a faceless institution and spending your free time on the phone repeating the same story to indifferent staff, then by all means — bank with Sabadell.
Otherwise, save yourself the emotional trauma and run.

Not able to close account

I recently moved to Denmark and wanted to close my Spanish account with Banco Sabadell, but I quickly realized this bank makes it as difficult as possible to leave. I have a life insurance policy linked to my account, and despite being charged monthly, the policy is renewed annually—meaning I am forced to pay for another 8 months before I can cancel it.

Not only is it impossible to transfer payments to my Danish account, but I am also not allowed to pay off the remaining amount upfront. This means I am forced to keep my Spanish account open just to continue paying, incurring unnecessary fees in the process.

This system is clearly designed to trap customers and extract more money from those who want to sever ties with the bank. There is absolutely no flexibility and no willingness to help. A truly terrible experience, and I would strongly advise against banking with Sabadell if you ever plan to move abroad.

I think their staff go on a special training course on how to annoy and frustrate their customers

The latest madness with sabadell bank they recently left a message via their app which went unnoticed by me that they required details of the directors of my family business despite having
banked with them for 20 years they have now frozen the the account and insisted that i visit the bank to furnish them with the info but then told me they also required new copies of all passports when i asked if i could email them they refused this and gleefully told me if i didnt return to the bank quickly to show them the passports the ac would be closed
All this when i am currently paying them 400€ a year to maintain this ac with has less than 5 transactions a month plus paying a similar amount for my personal ac
However i am allways reluctant to complain as i know that they would suggest i find another bank as they have often done before as they know opening a new business ac inSpain is after Brexit almost impossible

Its a joke trying to do online banking…

Its a joke trying to do online banking what a palaver. I have wasted 3 days of my life with this ,ringing up. Its quick to get a response but my God what a pain. Things need to move with the times. all that was needed was for my husband to give correspondence we have a joint account I feel like screaming signing the digital signature is so complicated why does it take you around the houses. Come on Sabadell less complication.
