We have used Barefoot Retreats many times in the past, the properties are great and locations fantastic. On our most recent trip our party was celebrating a birthday so I reached out to Barefoot for some dining recommendations and they made some excellent suggestions. We also wanted more logs (twice during our week stay) they delivered them to the door on the same day ! Exceptional service from the maintenance team, thank you.
The house on Front Street was well positioned for No 29 where we had a family party. But, the house although huge and well equipped, lacked larger beds and shower rooms, although there was a shower room on the ground floor, which went unused. Also, no wardrobe space at all. Having said all that the house was lovely, warm, and big enough for our family. The Aga in the kitchen is lovely, so is the Woodburner.
Absolutely beautiful cottage- the perfect place for us all to chill out.
Thank you!
We had a perfect weekend on the coast in such a gorgeous property, spacious and kitted out with all the added extras, even robes for every guest. Loved the hot tub and pizza oven! Everything was really good quality, couldn't have asked for more. We were a group of 14 but it didn't ever feel overcrowded, would absolutely be booking again.
We had the best weekend staying at the Skylark house. We couldn’t believe the quality of the house from the decor to facilities it was perfect. We can’t wait to book again and would recommend to all.
Comfortable and well appointed house in Thornham, a quiet village ideally situated to explore the surrounding area. The salt marshes within an easy walk leading to stunning beaches is a must.
Barefoot retreats provided excellent service, great communication and an excellent welcome pack!!
We love staying on the North Norfolk coast and experience has told us that Barefoot Retreats are the better agency to use. Our most recent cottage in Brancaster was clean, comfortable and had everything you need to make our stay enjoyable.
This was a great house to stay in. Clean comfortable and so close to the quay and all amenities.
Restaurants, pubs, coffee shops all within walking distance. Lots of fabulous walks right from the house.
What’s not to like!
The property we stayed at was in Thornham, North Norfolk, just over the road from a nice deli and a short walk to the local pub. It was a large property for all our family and it was very spacious. Every room had it's own bathroom, the kitchen was well equipped with a very large table and there was a big boot room for those muddy boots/paws. It was clean, and tidy when we arrived There was also off road parking for 3-4 cars. I gave it 4 stars because they were one of two little 'nice to have things' that we did not have that would have made it 5 stars
We visit North Norfolk a couple of times each year, I strongly believe that the Barefoot properties are not only carefully and truthfully represented they are the best serviced properties we’ve stayed in. Immaculately clean, always well equipped and good communication from the Barefoot office prior to arrival. I am very happy to recommend this agency.
We had a multi-generational family holiday at The Old Rectory last week and loved it! The Barefoot team were very attentive, professional and responsive, in particular Jeylan, Kerry and Zoe who we were in touch with if we had any questions.
We would highly recommend Barefoot and hope to use them again for our next Norfolk holiday!
We were staying at Pattermakers Row last month and I cut my foot on protruding gripper nails where the carpet had come away at the living room door. The sharp tacks pierced my heel in three places. I rang them straight away and they apologised and sent a maintenance man round to basically bash the tacks down with a hammer. No one checked to see how I was following this and when I remarked in an email they said “they didn’t want to disturb the rest of my holiday!”. They then offered me by way of compensation some extra things in my next hamper if we book again. We have used Barefoot for many many houses over the last eight years at least. This is not good service at all, if a child had caught their foot on the tacks it would have been a trip to hospital. Good job this isn’t the USA as they would be sued. I’m not impressed and most of all I’m not impressed with their follow up which was non existent. They charge the most of any rental agencies in Norfolk but they won’t be getting my custom anymore.

Right from the start the staff at Barefoot were excellent in attending to requests in a timely fashion ad furnishing us with all the necessary information.
Staying in one of the Manor House apartments which was of a great standard for the four of us with all the necessary amenities provided.
Proximity to Brancaster beach, shops and The Ship hotel and bar ensured less time spent in the car.
We all enjoyed the various restaurants and pubs along with the Fish Hut for fresh seafood and special mention to Bircham Stores for a hidden gem when it comes to excellent food and service.
We stayed in Seefeld in Docking. Wow! What a house. We loved it - look it up online and the garden is just perfect. The kids loved it as well running around playing water fights in the garden in the sun. The house was well equipped to a high standard and we have already recommended to friends and family - would have no hesitation staying with Barefoot again. Thanks for making our holiday in Norfolk memorable.
The house was brilliantly positioned in Burnham Market. Great central place to explore countryside and seaside
On the whole a good stay but maybe could do with a little bit more fine tuning of things that just make the difference - hairdryers, coat hangers, sharp knives, better pots and pans etc. Things seemed a little tired!
Have to say we found the local shops selling great produce but every shopkeeper we met was thoroughly miserable!
Socious was the best restaurant by far.
Stayed at Brancaster Staithe and Boathouse .
Fantastic house . If you are looking for a large house to cater for 15 + people with 5 acres of garden then look no further . Jeylan was outstanding in her help with booking and very swift in her response time to emails . A couple of points while at the house - were swiftly sorted . Would recommend the house and Barefoot to anyone .
Only slight disappointment was charged £20 on an £8000 booking for child gates !! , that didn’t fit and were acknowledged as not fitting afterwards . A note for next time placed on my file !! £20 slightly soured the experience and customer service . That said fantastic experience definitely book the house !!
Fantastic property which was better than described. Location perfect, just off the main road into the village. Perfect safe garden for our dog. Really well equipped and comfy. Owls to watch at dusk from the lounge! The village was also fabulous with good pub and local store, a great base to explore the coast and with Brancaster beach a safe and easy half mile walk away.
Ash Cottage in Brancaster was a fantastic place to stay - clean, comfortable and well situated, being close to a gorgeous beach and other attractions.
We would definitely recommend this cottage and Barefoot Retreats to anybody wishing to have a self-catering holiday in Norfolk.
Two slight niggles - one of the bedrooms did not have a full-length mirror, and there were not any hooks on the back of doors, which would have been useful for hanging the robes on.
NB The cottage is on a main road, which was not too much of an issue but is worth noting.
As a multi-generational family group, we have been holidaying in Norfolk for over 6 decades. Over the years we've rented houses with several agents and we can honestly say Barefoot are the best. Before our stay questions were answered promptly and politely and once in the property a couple of additional questions and requests were dealt with in the same manner. The house we stayed in was stunning, exceptionally clean, and well equipped, there were extras like robes and slippers and a beautiful locally sourced hamper full of tasty goodies. If you are looking for the perfect stay then look no further. Thank you to the whole team at Barefoot Retreats for a special week 😎
We have stayed with Barefoot Retreats before so we knew we would enjoy a quality experience. The property was lovely, well equipped and provided everything we needed. It was ideally located to enable us to explore the nearby coastline and villages. We will certainly use Barefoot Retreats when we next return and recommend the company to friends and family.
