We contacted Barker & Associates as our neighbour was building and extension and we needed our conservatory protected whist the builders were next door. Very happy with the service provided.

Would recommend Barker and Associates for a fast turnaround, ignore the reviews from people who received letters from them, they are not a scam company! I will use them again for future projects.

Recieved a letter trying to scare me into signing up with them, threatentening my neigbours building works were going to damage my property.
Reported the company to the RICS, disgusting business practices trying to cause disputes between neighbours to generate money. Company should be investigated.
Update: "Warning" The firm is not registered with RICS

Received a card from the Post Office to say we had a letter that couldn’t be delivered because the sender didn’t pay the full postage. Paid £2, thinking we had a parcel, and turns out that Barker and Associates had sent an unsolicited letter, like many other reviews on this site. Things must be getting bad, if they can’t even manage to put a stamp on a letter or, maybe, afford to pay the postage! I would definitely look elsewhere if I were to find I needed party wall surveyors.

Avoid at all costs - a complete scam outfit. We received an uninvited letter from them as a direct result of their having scanned the local planning authority’s published data. We only found out that this wasn’t the company being used by our neighbours (as we had already agreed to proceed with our neighbours’ company) when our neighbours received a letter incorrectly addressed.

Thank goodness I am one of the people that Barker & Associates have supported. I am sure my neighbour who was completing the extension has nothing but bad things to say. Their reluctance to pay for the repairs to my property, indicates this would never have been met without Neil’s diligence. This firms work has saved me going to the small claims court and having to deal with bullying self-serving neighbours. I am very grateful for all your company has done.

Neil responded to our notice and then arranged the survey within a week. Happy to recommend.

This company are the lowest of the low. Scour council planning portals and then send deceptive letters to neighbours, tricking them into giving their details. Then write to individual planning works, claim neighbour is their client and has instructed a survey, conveniently for Neil Barker. As said previously, ambulance chasers. If they were any good they wouldn’t need to practice such low tactics, trying to coerce people into unnecessary expense and encouraging neighbourly disputes.

NO EVIDENCE OF RICS MEMBERSHIP OR REGULATION on their website. This rings huge alarm bells. If you need a surveyor, best to choose a regulated one.

They prey on the weak and misinformed and SCAM people into signing forms not knowing the implications.

Cockroach ambulance chasers would be a polite way to describe.

This is a sham company that checks public planning records, gets neighbours to sign agreements and then will demand fees from neighbours for acting on their behalf. They are like ambulance chasers of the party wall world, beware.

Thank you so much to Neil. He was our agreed surveyor and was very helpful during our house extension project. His commutations were great and was always available whenever we needed him via email/phone. He was quick in replying and was very clear whenever we had a question. I would recommend his service to anyone.

We engaged Barker & Associates as agreed surveyor for us and our neighbours. The survey Was carried out and awards were issued promptly with no problem at all, and we could carry out our extension. Would recommend.

I would not reccomend this firm

Neil advises he came to my neighbour's property but had no courtesy to call/knock to state he has come to visit the property. Surely a party wall surveyor 'acting on both sides' should have common courtsey to advise the date at least. Then starting pictures cannot be given because "a crack in the wall" violates GDPR! What a joke.

Waiting on a response from my neighbour to give him the go ahead. Surely the form we both signed is sufficent for this?!

Colin and John who delivered our dining room chairs could not have been more helpful and professional.

Neil Barker was engaged to act on our behalf as a party wall surveyor in respect of loft and rear extension works to be carried out by our neighbour.

At his second call to our property, Neil unequivocally confirmed that cracks in our wall and ceiling had been caused by the neighbour’s works.
Following which Neil states that the neighbours surveyor is not budging !! and in agreement with the neighbour’s surveyor denied any damage had been caused. At the third call, an appointment was made for both party wall surveyors to attend our property. However, Neil failed to show up. Allegedly stuck on another job.

Neil showed no interest in the matter nor did he act in his client’s best interest. I do not and can not recommend Neil Barker and Associates to anyone looking for a party wall surveyor or party wall advice.

When we needed a party wall award for ourselves and neighbours for our extension we were very pleased to deal with Neil at Barker and Associates on the matter. All communication via letter or email was very quickly dealt with and the appointment for the survey carried out very quickly. The award was granted within a few days.
