This Bank "BBVA Spain" is a no no

This Bank is a no no. The most unorganized bank and the least trained staff. Totally irresponsible behavior which adds up to the worst possible bank you could engage with.
I started almost 4 years ago. I was attracted as the banker was an exceptionally fine person. The boss did not like good rating and they took him off my account. The new banker was a totally irrelevant customer service person. Back in 2021 I needed a Euro credit card, I asked and they were supposed to mail me a card to my address in U.S. I waited two months and nothing showed up. I asked the banker he needs to resend, he came back that BBVA can't send cards to U.S.. Wow, such a great bank keeps you in dark for two months "untrained banker." I asked the banker to cancel the card. Now a year later they are coming at me with commissions and fees for a card that bank never sent, and the banker did not cancel, and therefore, never delivered and never used. What they are doing is just systematic fraud, totally unorganized banking system. Last year wanted to close the account, they told me you have to come to a branch. I have to travel to Spain to close my account. It is like black mail, they threaten you to pay or otherwise we publish your name. I am waiting for them to do that so I take care of them here in U.S.. Be aware, you were told, remember BBVA Espania is as bad as it gets.

BBVA spain is without doubt the worst

BBVA spain is without doubt the worst, most unfriendly, unhelpful and pre-historic bank in the world. Actually mind-blowing how consistently appalling they are. From first contact, throughout your time as a customer, this bank never fails to impress with new levels of shocking service. Avoid this bank at all costs!

I used to be a customer

I used to be a customer. Then I have credit card debt. I paid them correctly every month with 200 €. In 2017 everything was compared, all cards were returned and the account was terminated.
They bombard me with calls every day telling me I didn't pay for it. And that until today! They call day and night, absolutely unprofessional!
Worst bank I know!!
I'll contact my lawyer because this has no end.

great for other EU citizens

For other EU citizens without residency in Spain, this bank is great if you use the account type "Va Contigo". For example, it has 0 commission on cheque payments, and you'd pay for a house with a cheque.

Bank account opening process from the 1950's

The bank is a disaster - something from the 1950's.

Just to show an example:

I opened a Bank Account for my company. It took weeks, several visits to the branch with previous appointment, solicitors to review documents, further reviews of the documents for approval, signing like a dozen documents and I now have access to the account but can't operate - till the bank furthers review my documents. I was forced to open the account in a Spanish bank for tax purposes as they have this protection from the state - the government won't operate with a fintech.

I also opened a company bank account with Revolut for my day to day operations. It took 15 minutes without moving from my desk. And the account features are significantly better.

Nothing else to add.

If you are looking for a bank to open a job account, don’t go for BBVA! Is a good bank for online services, but they keep our money transfers. In my company and from the people that I know, everyone get paid in time, except those who have BBVA account. For example, this month everyone got paid on March 31, but those with BBVA accounts haven’t got the money yet. Maybe on the next work day on Monday, so 5 days latter, it is a shame! They use our money for their trades and get our payment late.

The worst bank I have ever dealt with

The worst bank I have ever dealt with. It's impossible to make an appointment. I opened a bank account online (it's advertised as "open in less than 10 minutes"), but weeks has passed and I still don't have a bank account. I already went to the bank 3 times in person, where the employees were unable to resolve the "issue" and each time had to start the whole process over. The simplest operation as opening bank account: impossible. NEVER TAKE THIS BANK UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. Employees in a bank were extremely unhelpful and said "go choose other bank if you don't like this one". Really not professional.

Bank has down graded on bank customer…

Bank has down graded on bank customer service and redirecting customers to online banking but then the app is hopeless. In order to solve online banking issues you need to visit one of their branches but they make it very difficult to get an appointment. I’m having constant problems with my account, not being able to do transfers and having my access to funds being blocked. Very frustrated with this bank and have no option but to change to another bank. To top all of these problems they charge commissions!! I’m obviously been taken for a ride by this bank….

Shockingly unprofessional service

Shockingly unprofessional customer service at the Malaga branch. Rude, arrogant and unhelpful staff, actively working on discouraging prospect customers from becoming one. "Well" done BBVA.

Do not join this bank unless you can…

Do not join this bank unless you can speak fluent Spanish as they refuse to help you. Even though they say they can speak your language. When initially joining we only joined because they could speak English. They changed staff and no one spoke English. Even if you try your best to speak Spanish, if you are not fluent forget it.
Never experienced such rudeness from a bank in my life. Am I wrong or am I a customer? Should they not be bending over backwards to help you?
The look they give you and the shrug of the shoulder shows how little respect they have for foreign clients, especially the English.
Join at your peril!

Horrible bank to deal with!

Horrible bank to deal with!! Rude staff and waste of time manager. We joined this bank a few years ago when they advertised WE SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE!!! Change of staff..Now they only speak Spanish.....Was told to bring a translater.

come on bbVA? shape up...

I am comparing banks and have gone to both Sabadell, Caixa, Openbank, Bankinter, where all have been giving me gret service. Now I contacted BBVA, I tried to navigate to the support in English, only that was difficult. Once I got to talk to a man, his English was awful, and he repeated the same thing over and over again which was not the answer to my question, sounded like he was mummeling, so I repeat my question again where upon I get the answer.. you have already asked that question? and you dont need do not raise your voice! What? I answered, I have not done that I just tried to explain that I want to become a customer with you but there was a stop in the form online and I would like help to move on? Well you raised your voice he says again ( And belive me I know when I raise my voice ^^ wish I did not do..How can you even say that to a potential customer?) and then he answers, then I dont know how to solve your problem you have to go to the local office, and then he HANG UP on me? Haha cant do nothing but laugh at him, I guess this bank does not want new customers. FOI, iam not gona choose BBVA and my husband is now changing the bank to another one.

To BBVA, why you dont have a team that messure customer succes? Your reviews is shiieeet, your staff on this apartment is beyond acceptable, and your english team sucks on english? Shape up!!

This is the most terrible experience…

This is the most terrible experience with any banks I ever had consider all aspects of service:
- impossible to make appointment, they speak with you over the phone and ask you to wait till they come back with the time and the day and after a week of silence you go to the branch and they give you the same phone and tell you to call again and again and again.
Over 3 weeks a fight just to bring and submit your tax declaration and NO result!
Over a year I tried to stop my insurance - via BBVA branches, 5 times coming again and again and it s horror experience and and after this at the office of insurance company it took only 10 minutes and everything been done. So, lost so much time and money!!!
Feel like banging my head over the wall with this bank again and again - most managers in that bank are not interesting to work with clients: when I said I have to sort out my problem with insurance or I have to change my bank they immediately invited me to casher to take my money from the account and to stop my contract with BBVA !!!!

No real Customer Service, just a chat bot!

After having an account for more than 3 years, suddenly they changed their Terms and Conditions and started charging me about 150 Euros/year as a "commission cost".

I tried to contact them to know what's going on, but, unfortunately, this bank does not have any customer service centre that you can contact from abroad.

On the website, you can write your inquiry, but you will never get any reply. If you call them, you should wait on the waiting list forever, and in the end, no one will answer you.

Just want to close account !!!!!!!!!

I have been a customer of bbva for over 40yrs. Now I want to close the account and return the balance (197euros) to my English bank account. I have been attempting to do this since April 2021 without any success. bbva uk are not interested in helping and I feel bbva are just laughing at me. All I want to do is close the account.. Any suggestions??
