Excellent refurbishment of old calipers.

I’m a BCS newbie and absolutely delighted with their work on an old set of Triumph Saloon calipers that were definitely worse for wear. Good communication and advice from experienced staff. The painted finish is great and they look like new. Not fitted yet, as the whole car is being refurbished, but expect them to work as well as they look. Strongly recommended.

BCS were great to work with

BCS were great to work with. They did exactly what they said they would and at the time they said. The updates received on progress through the refurbishment and painting process were very welcome and I knew exactly when I was going to receive the calipers back. I would highly recommend BCS

Great efficient service

I took advantage of a 25%Discount deal during the month of November 2024. Having used BCS before (5 years previously) I was keen to take advantage of their marketing promotion. I had two very dry and crusty VW 1302S Beetle calipers that hadn't been in use for nearly 30 years.

The original quote I received was for a total refurb with a specific VW orange colour paint, however that really was too much so they adjusted the quote for a standard paint finish in black.

I sent my calipers by Evri (other couriers available) and I had them back in about 3 weeks. They were very well packaged and the calipers looked very good. I haven't fitted them as the Beetle is still in a restoration. With the life time guarantee they should be fine when the time comes to fit them.

The cost of the refurb was alot more than I expected even after a 5 year gap but I assume it's just gone up with the cost of living anyway. I could have shopped around got them done cheaper elsewhere - but I'm of the mindset, you get what you pay for so don't expect to have any trouble with these calipers. My other calipers (done in 2019) on a 1966 Ford Corsair are still fine, no signs of seizure and still looking good.

Sent my calipers for my 45 year old Vauxhall Chevette for overhauling they turned them round quickly and when received back they looked as good as new and when fitted they worked perfectly. Quick service, not a cheap service but well worth it and would use again if required

As New Caliper Rebuild service

I chose to refurbish and repaint R8 front calipers as parts were on back order from Audi and I did not wish to wait. Frankly the repainted and refurbished calipers are as good as if not better than the Audi Brembo new ones in their finish.
Fast service and great communications from BCS.
Would recommend them to anyone who wants a first class 'as new' rebuild for a significant saving on new replacements. Why discard expensive forged parts when the issue is never with the actual casting of the caliper?

The brake caliper paint pack was as described

The brake caliper paint pack was exactly as described, and the finished product is magnificent. However, you don't need anywhere near as much volume (I ordered what it said was 300 ml, but actually was 200 ml in the pack that arrive) as the instructions state. i reckon 200 ml would paint up to four cars' brake calipers. Also, I found that the instructions could state that once you have mixed the paint with the hardener, you could paint the first (thin) coat then the mixed paint would still be OK to paint the second and final coat (albeit slightly thicker after 45 minutes to an hour).

Really impressed

Really impressed. They transformed a full set of s2000 calipers from grubby and unloved ones to colour coded beauties that will be fitted this winter. My experience with the company and communication was good.

And to Bob (review below)..... You need a sense of humour pal.....😁

LOOK AT THE EMAIL I HAD FROM THIS…

LOOK AT THE EMAIL I HAD FROM THIS COMPANY !!!!
Hi Bob,

I had a dream last night and you were in it! Honestly, you won't believe what we were talking about... We we're talking about how important your brakes were, the conversation went something like this:

************************************************************************************

Bob:
Aren't you that lovely lady from BCS?

Tegan:
Yep, that's me Bob. Thanks for the compliment!

Bob:
No bother, I read something about your lifetime warranty and I have to say Tegan, it sounds rather spiffing. But isn't it just a load of marketing toffee and you don't actually mean it.

Tegan:
Whaaaaaat!

No way Bob, we really mean it. AND there aren't any exceptions either.

Bob:
Come on now, let's not play silly buggers. So are you telling me that if one day decide to take my Kit Car Morris marina round a track all day and your paint melts, that you'll re-work them under warranty?

Tegan:
Exactly, you got it! No flies on you is there Bob.

Bob:
No flies on me Tegan. But why would you do that every time I melt the paint on my brakes Tegan?

Tegan:
Bob, they won't melt, so we won't need to.

We have race teams that still have the same paint on their brakes 4 and 5 years later and the paint still hasn't melted, faded, discoloured or peeled. The point is that it just doesn't happen.

Bob:
I don't get it Tegan, what's the warranty for then? What's the point?

Tegan:
The point is that we're so confident in our work that we warrant our work FOR LIFE! Literally, as long as you own your car. AND if you sell your car within 3 years, you can pass the warranty onto the new keeper.

Also, to be clear, we're not saying that nothing ever goes wrong, I mean statistically speaking it pretty much doesn't, our return rate is under 0.01%, but we want to know about it when things don't work out right. The great benefit for us is that we get to see why, where and how they failed, allowing us to continuously improve our processes and workmanship.

Bob:
I'm starting to get it now Tegan, and I have to say I'm impressed and have never heard of such a generous warranty on a component that takes so much grief.

Tegan:
I hear you Bob and in fairness, as a business you have to be pretty ballsy to have such a warranty. Which is obviously why we're the only company to warrant a brake caliper refurbishment past 12 months.

Bob:
And it sounds like your the only company to have enough confidence in their work.

Tegan:
And that's the point of the warranty Bob. We're so confident in our work that you just won't need a warranty, in fact, we're that confident that our warranty is almost pointless!

But Bob, isn't it nice to know that if something did happen on what most people think is the most important component on their vehicle, that the people you gave your money to, to refurbish them would look after you really well and at their own expense?

Bob:
I must say Tegan, that is nice to know and I have suddenly come over with a lovely warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy.

What about the function of the brakes Tegan? Surely that can't be for life too can it?

Tegan:
Of course, and it is for life yes.

Let me be really clear Bob.

If you have our High-End Brake Caliper Painting Service. Then the warranty covers:

Corrosion appearing (but it won't)
Burning, melting or discolouring (but it won't)
Flaking or peeling (but it won't)
Or anything at all that degrades the appearance of your brakes. With the exception of needing a clean and your local car wash spraying brick acid on them.

If you have the functional refurbishment then the warranty covers:

Sticking brakes
Over heating discs (caused by the caliper)
Total seizures
Or anything else that can be put down to poor function of the brake caliper. With the exception of sliders not being cleaned and greased in a service.

Bob:
My word Tegan. Here take my money!

Hi Bob, I hope you're well.
We aren't sure if you meant to give us a 1 star review because of an email that we were actually shortlisted in a marketing awards event for businesses last year.
I am sorry if somehow it caused you some offense, but actually it's the best performing email we send in our marketing campaigns and is responsible for almost 10% of our revenue, as well as gets the most responses from our potential customers.

These days, businesses have to stand out from other businesses with their marketing and this one really works for us.

If you'd like to speak to anyone from BCS about this, please don't hesitate to call. We understand that sometimes thing can be taken in a way that it wasn't meant to be delivered and I think this is the case here.

We hope you're ok and would love the chance to serve you at Cottee Cars and show you just why we harp on so much about our warranty.

All the best,
Marc.

Hi, we're sorry that somehow we've upset you by asking you for a review before you had used the paint that you have purchased. However, we actually wait 14 days before TrustPilot sends the email asking for you to review the product. Although, i'm sure that in some cases this may be too soon as it is here.

When you do come round to using the product, we're sure that you'll be happy with the results and if you feel that you might need some direction, an instructions kit is included, but you are also welcome to call or email for any advice. Although, in our first year of being in business we actually offered a handpainted (on the car) service and the advice on the help leaflet is the result of having hand painted several hundred sets of brakes for customers, so do your best to follow this and you'll do great.

With respect to asking people for reviews, it really does help small businesses like ours and Google is actually likely to rank us higher in search results for proving via great reviews that we provide a good service to our customers, so we really do have to ask everyone. If it weren't for this practice then I can imagine us having a lot less reviews. I hope you understand and feel like you might update your review once you have used our brake caliper painting kit.
All the best.
Rich @ BCS

Brake calipers refurbished

Brake calipers refurbished, new pistons, new seals and blead screws and they work fine. I have to say I was a bit confused by the paperwork, I didn't want the calipers sprayed but thought that the paperwork said that they would be bead blasted and left grey but they came back in the existing finish which didn't bother me at all. emails were a bit confusing as they came from different addresses and my email decided to put some in the junk mail. Overall I'm happy as the important thing is that the calipers are great and the work was dome timely.
