I'm such an idiot for not checking here…
I'm such an idiot for not checking here first, I fell for the same trap as everyone else here. I was prompted by deliveroo to try this company and found I was signed up to a subscription without my knowledge.
(Edit) I've found this is the unclaimed account of Beer52 and they use another trust pilot account where they use 'unsupported invitation methods' for reviews.
Scammers
Scammers, trick you into subscription. You can't cancel online, I called, took three days to get through, but finally I cancelled after receiving the worst tasting beer I've ever had the unfortunate experience of drinking.
Then, shocked to see they took another £27 and sent another 8 disgusting beers. I called back and told them I cancelled, apparently no record at which point I recorded my phone calls (made them aware I was recording.
Don't do it

I had a very unpleasant experience with Beer52. I received some free tickets and, without knowing it, suddenly found myself subscribed to their beer subscription. Canceling the subscription is impossible online; you must call their number. You wait a long time to connect, and then their employee tries at all costs to dissuade you from canceling, or even tells you that it's impossible and asks you to send an email. Of course, there's no direct email for canceling subscriptions on their website. You really have to be careful with this site, and I strongly warn everyone about it.
Don't do it
Don't do it, is all I can say. For a Scottish companies, it's a farce and not worth it! No honour or support. I didn't like the beer either; spend the money at your local! Cancellation was frustrating and disappointing!
Scammer
Didn't make it clear that it is a subscription when you claim the free box and when you want to cancel it, you need to call.
Scammer.
Difficult cancellation
They make it so difficult to cancel the subscription. Not worth signing up for to get the free stuff.
The wines were nice & the initial offer…
The wines were nice & the initial offer was good.
However I forgot to cancel as didn't realise I had locked into a subscription.
When the money was pending from my bank I logged into beer 52 account to cancel...simple enough??? No had to go through a few pages to process the cancellation but when I got to the end, it gave you a phone number to cancel instead. So you could not cancel online.
Called in to cancel & got the hard sale. I'm quite sure the sales people are timed to keep you on the phone as long as possible.
It was not pleasant and I did not want to be rude as they have a job to do but my goodness wasn't worth the agro to just get a simple subscription cancelled.

Emma was very helpful and nice to speak with 🙂
Painful to cancel
Would never subscribe to this service again... such a pain to cancel once it has been set up. As a result, and initial 1 year subscription gift for my brother in law has become quite extortionate. They don't even like most of the beers that are being delivered.
The most recent reason not to let me cancel is ridiculous. Although I set up and pay the account, I used my sisters name so it would be successfully delivered to her. Now I need her to authorise the cancellation as she is apparently the account owner- lots of mini scams in place to rinse good customers of their money. It's a joke.
Also very interesting that they've chosen to disable google reviews... that says something in itself!
Criminal - what a con
criminal - in order to cancel you must telephone them. The phone number is only revealed once you click 'i want to cancel' about 20 times. Then you're stuck on hold for ages. What a con.
Totally agreed we too were scammed
Totally agreed we too were scammed. DO NOT use this company. Must have fake reviews as they say good customer service. We clearly spoke to a non UK call centre who hung up on us.
Misleading - ignore any offers
This is one the most misleading, dishonest companies I’ve ever seen.
“Free” beer case is £6.95 and turns…
“Free” beer case is £6.95 and turns into a subscription that is painful to cancel. You have to ring them up in the weekday and take some time to confirm cancellation. Steven over the phone was a good lad though and well spoken. I understand his job is to retain customers but he was very respectful nonetheless when I told him of my issue. He is the reason this review gets 2-stars. This company would be so much more appealing if they didn’t try to hold you hostage in such a way and made cancellation easier. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth, like the dregs of a two-day-old pint of Carling in a student bar. My advice would be, loosen the leash on the customer, create a more respectful business model, and I would come back as a consumer of the good ol’ 0.0percents.
SCAMMERS!!
SCAMMERS!!! Beware
They make it look like you’re getting wine and beer free, but sign you up to a subscription without you realising. They’re snakes as they take money from your card a few days before you receive the goods…if you received the goods first and realised what these scammers were doing, you could stop the payment. Daylight robbery!!! Aren’t people struggling enough without beer52 thieving our hard earned cash off us! Scumbags. Let’s hope your company goes bust as you are criminals.
SCAM - DO NOT USE THEM
When you think it's a good service to try some wine, you get into the trap of ordering F̶R̶E̶E̶ 3 bottles and paying almost £10 for the delivery. And without you knowing you have automatically subscribed for 3 bottles a month and they have saved your payment card details to charge you on the next order. Also, you can't cancel the subscription online, you need to call them and also you can't delete or change your card details on their website.... AVOID USE THEIR SERVICES!!!
Disingenuous
Yep, agree with everyone. Very slick devious way of signing you up to a subscription and you need to wait 10 minutes to get through on the PHONE to cancel. The idea is novel, the packaging vibrant, yodel was speedy but overall—disingenuous. Don’t fall into marketing trap. Such a shame, I tend to like everything Scottish.
could not cancel online had to call…
could not cancel online had to call waited 14 minutes for an answer, bloke I spoke to was sound to be fair and did manage to cancel, tried to get me to stay which is standard practise but having read some of the other reviews I defo did not want to carry on with this.
I would say don't bother with this just go to tesco or asda they have loads of nice pale ales etc, personally I'd go with anything by beavertown
Please avoid they automatically subscribe you without confirmation!
Was not made clear that you automatically subscribed if you tried the free sample.
Please avoid they are very expensive...
It's a company that will not be honest with you so they can take your money!
Deceptive Business
Deceptive business model. I will be reporting to Trading Standards and all other relevant regulatory bodies.
They make it easy to sign up online and state you can cancel at any time. However after multiple clicks online through their cancellation form you are prompted to call a number. No option to cancel through the click of a button (as is industry norm, with the same ease with which you sign up), nor email option. You must call to cancel. Their web form locks to the same number when you chose the cancellation option.
Attempted to call multiple times.
First time: hold for 11 minutes. Once I got through and stated I wanted to cancel, the line disconnected as I was giving them my email address.
Second time: hold for 7 minutes. I was disconnected before a word was even said. Seemingly tracking my phone number and refusing to pick up.
As a working professional I do not have time to keep calling and playing their deceptive, unethical games.
I have placed merchant blocks with all my banks and emailed them under their 'general inquiries' line informing them of my cancellation. So far they have given me a generic reply that they are processing my request and will get back to me.
Stay away!
Absolutely disgusting company! They make it impossible to cancel. Now 3rd month i have been charged even though I have made many contacts!
Would be 0 stars if possible!
