Check Carefully before you join
We had been paying for membership for at least 20 years. My husband had knee problems and Mr Chipperfield performed an Arthroscopy on his right knee 2 years ago saying that he’d need a replacement after a couple of years ..and that was covered by the insurance.
We called last week only to be told that they no longer do knee replacements.
We feel very let down after putting faith in the company.
It would seem that they are trimming down the services they provide.
I also questioned the distance we’d need to travel with me driving….i am 83 and coping on the long drive isn’t an option for me…they weren’t helpful in getting treatment nearer..so that is another minus …shame on what used to be a great caring company.

Just to clarify, Benenden Health has never covered joint replacements in our available surgical treatments. If you're unsure what we do and don't cover, please visit our website to check: https://www.benenden.co.uk/health/healthcare/medical-treatments-and-surgery/. As a not-for-profit, we can't afford to cover every major operation, and we work in harmony with the NHS to make sure our members get the best access possible.
Regarding distance to our Hospitals in our network, we do advise members travel to the best Hospital for the treatment they need. However, our team are always available to see if there are any other options.

Cataract Operation
Excellent service - after getting a letter of referral from my optician I had an appointment to see the consultant very quickly and a date set for my operations. The treatment was first class and very efficient and aftercare very good. I have already recommended Beneden to other people

Great service for the price
I joined Benenden years ago and have had to use them a few times for specialist appointments and to speak to a doctor. I have recommended them to many people and my family are now members. Would thoroughly recommend.
