Horrible product. Bad service. DONT BUY!

I've been a customer for over 10 years, and I loved My Big Berkey.

I decided to upgrade to the 6 filter one (The Imperial... I think?), and the fluoride filters.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!

My water had a strange smell, and horrible after taste (NOT like before at all), and after being messed about with returning arrangements for weeks... I finally get told (By Pacha) that it is effectively "MY FAULT" due to Me installing the filters incorrectly (even though I installed My original "Big Bekey"... and possess the intelligence level, to follow instructions correctly)... and now I'm being messed about; waiting for My refund (@ £1200:00).

I am severely disabled, and don't have an adequate supply of drinking water; until My refund is available, so I can purchase a new Berkey.

I'm really NOT IMPRESSED... and feel completely disrespected!

I mentioned no form of loyalty compensation... and I got offered a p0xy jug!!!!

Paid just under £500 for Berkey Water Filter UK and got in touch due to the chalky colour of filtered water and limescale residue in our kettle (need to descale 1 x week. The whole point was to have a filter that gave us clean water and less descaling of the kettle. Their reply is the same answer from their website. So - no help really. We were better off with the Brits water filters.

Is this company in trouble? Took delivery of my Berkey water filter to find it had a nasty dent. Returned it, as Berkey said they would replace it.( Hadn’t realised how lucky I was to get them on the phone). This was over a week ago, and have still not received a replacement. Cannot get anyone on the phone, it is always an answer phone or doesn’t connect. Have tried emailing them and have had no response. What a terrible attitude and bad service for an expensive item.
As a result of this review received an update from Berkey to say a replacement had been sent out. Have just opened it to find it is just a metal tube with no insides. WHAT A JOKE. Of course they are not contactable by phone.

I recently ordered a Berkey, cost me an arm and a leg. I have primed that filters and even done the red dye test, yet my water still does not come out clear. I have tried to call UK customer service and the phone rings and then disconnects. This is not the type of customer service I'd expect when purchasing such an expensive product.

I received the item but it arrived damaged in the box with 2 different sized dents on the top water chamber.
I tried speaking to someone at Berkey straightaway but the phone does not connect and when it did - it was a voicemail asking me to leave my name and number - which I did - but still as of yet I have not heard back from the team.
I’m hoping someone from Berkey will reach out to me after seeing this review and will inform me what can be done to rectify the situation as I feel disappointed about the lack of communication with the company.

Invested in the big berkey several weeks ago, I didn’t want to review it until I had used it a for few weeks.
I purchased the PF 2 Fluoride filters too.
It’s the best thing I’ve purchased in years. I was buying bottled water (not the best, I know..) I always used a cordial/squash if I had to use tap water because I couldn’t stand the taste without.
So easy to set up, I did watch a YouTube video from berkey to make sure I did everything right. It didn’t take long at all approx 1/2 hr. I wasn’t going to do the red dye test, then after a little research realised it was an important thing to do. Absolutely brilliant to see it run clear 😃
I fill it daily sometimes twice for 2 adults, 3 if my son comes home for a few days, we are all drinking so much more water compared to how much we drank before so far healthier for us and the taste is clear/clean. I also use it to cook with too. No more tap water from now on.
I probably should have purchased the Royal Berkey because I am filling twice daily, but it wouldn’t have sat on my worktop, worth considering if you are going to us it for cooking and drinking.

Pacha, Just to let you know that to accuse the delivery team and the client of theft/fraud before checking why my stock was missing from my parcel to the value of over £500 is not a good way to treat customers. To not pass my request on to management to contact me is not good either. I wonder, does this indicate a scam amongst the staff on valuable missing items? I would not recommend this company. The parcels were very poorly packaged, not protected, not secure, and the expensive missing items were not addressed in a 'customer friendly' way. I resent being accused of fraud before checking your "100% watertight service" which was clearly flawed, as your CCTV subsequently showed, and the forwarded, (original, missing, expensive items) arrived, thankfully, but were equally poorly packaged and not secure. I found this whole experience stressful. I would never shop here again. It is obvious this company does not care about how things are sent, or packaged, and if things are missing, expect to be blamed first, before they check their own system. I guess I was lucky I got them at all? When a company is unconcerned about their own flaws, it spells trouble. They destroyed my trust in their ability to deliver securely packaged items, and worse still, to take any initial responsibility for their own errors when leaving out expensive missing items before putting the possible blame on the delivery team and customer. What an insult! Unbelievable!

ill change my review if they give me afull refund. but i have been sick for two days since i got it headache stomach pain nausea had to stop drinking it. and i know i primed and did everything right. wont be buying again.
edit refund was promptly given and they told me they would look into it. i may try them again in the future as heard good things just had a bad experience this time around.

I've had my filters for many years, but it's the first time I've ordered the fluoride filters, so I ordered the regular filters, as I've had the old ones a couple of years.

I have to say that I'm very disappointed, having spent such a lot of money on this Berkey. I replaced a high quality water jug filter, which did a very good job, but the filter replacements were expensive and only lasted a month due to the poor quality of the tap water in my area. Within days of switching over to the Berkey my glass kettle has gone almost entirely white inside due to the hard water/calcium build up etc that hasn't been effectively filtered out - The water also definitely has much more of a metallic taste, so I don't feel it's filtering out the heavy metals either. Really hoped for more.

Very pleased with my new Berkey. Easiest way to get clean fresh water.
Only problem I encountered was getting the filters to work initially (had to scrub them twice as per instructions) but after that it’s been very easy to operate.
Unit looks very smart too.

Pacha has been very timely responsive to my emails, answered all my queries and been friendly, hired a great customer service team. Berkley have a great policy that allows there to be good customer service. I bought a travel size Berkey and it was too small, I was able to exchange with ease which was a relief because its hard to know which size is for you really till you have it. I now have to 8.5litre Berkey and am very happy with it for the 2 of us. I also got the stainless steel tap which made all of the difference its much more speedy at filling your glass than the included plastic one.

Excellent product, first class service and super fast delivery.

We ordered for family member and it came very quickly. We have been using our Berkey for 4 years and we are very happy with the product having to use it when water was contaminated and council said not to drink tap water for over 6 days. We had no concerns and neighbor also asked for water as had no clean drinking water for children. The product easy to set up and clean. Love it.

The Fluoride filters that are being sold are dangerous as they leach aluminium into the water that is being drunk!!

Been using for years and very happy with the product. Last filters bought for £118 a pair and £65 a pair of fluoride filters, just about to order new ones and price has gone up to £166 a pair of filters and £185 a pair of fluoride filters!!!!!! That’s an overall increase of £168, how can that even be possible?

Water filter arrived promptly.
However, a part was missing and it was impossible to prime the filters despite watching the you tube videos-
It took 9 hours to filter 4 litres of water not the 90 minutes as stated on the video.

Sent emails and made phone calls to company requested a callback - no reply.
No dial tone when trying to phone them and the line cuts off after a minute or two.

However, they did respond when I messaged to say the Filter was on its way back due to being disfunctional and unfit for purpose- and they did offer to send a priming tool and the spare part.
It’s a lot of money for what it is and the associated stress, with no back up from the company etc.
The whole experience was so stressful I requested my money back-
The company refunded immediately, and, also the return postage.

Mold concerns. I have read about mold concerns and Berkey’s. The bungs smell of mold already. Tested the water - same as tap water that went in. What a rip off! Will be getting rid of!

To counteract the statement BERKEY is about to release in regard to the filters, in my answer, I am challenging ALL BERKEY CUSTOMERS to test for themselves their filtered water with any TDS meter of theirs and see what happens ....
If Berkey is so "honest", they should not see any issue with such invitation and should not oppose my statement, since they have nothing to fear apparently.

What did I uncover? I want to specify the whole system and filters were bought directly from BERKEY: at the beginning I thought it is because the filter needed to be in use, as it happens with other brands like Brita. But after a while, I realised there was no change whatsoever.

I have tested the water with a TDS meter, what goes in, is what goes out, and I am not the only one to report the same results depending on your tap water wherever you live.

With my TDS meter readings results
- for one liter of unfiltered tap water I get 220 Total Dissolved Solids [which is expected unfortunately
- for a liter of Berkey filtered water [same glass bottle]. I get 240 Total Dissolved Solids Note that you are not supposed to have above 5 at worse, even 5 is too much.

To compare, I bought a Zero Filter Water system and bought a different TDS meter than the one offered by the brand to be more objective: In this case one gets the result promised. It is easier to add minerals by supplementing than take the risk to swallow toxins in a water you cannot trust, not knowing what you swallow. BERKEY is stating the lawsuit is in process of dismissal, not quite: they requested a dismissal of the case, the lawsuit is not over yet.

Note in their answer, BERKEY is careful not to address the total absence of NSF which proves my point: the scam would be in the open as it would not pass the tests.
Furthermore, BERKEY ignored carefully any mention of their non-labelled bottle of dye Berkey provide, themselves to their clients [identified by BERKEY themselves as FD&C Reds 40 and 3. Red 40-contain compounds, including benzidine and 4-aminobiphenyl, that research has linked with cancer, but this is no big deal, I guess. This shows how much BERKEY has concerns for your health.
I had a hell of a time to obtain the name of the red dye from Berkey themselves: I did my research, and this is appallingly unsafe. BERKEY can made up story as they want in regard to fraudulent BERKEY filter system or filters: what is there to say in my case? the proof is in the straightforward TDS meter reading tests! It is fraudulent since it does not remove anything but on the same level of BAD, their products are toxic, the filters as much as their dye. So I am right by stating that poisoning is on the BERKEY menu.

Usually, when some seller has a very good he is sure of, with statements he can backup, a truly proven product, if something goes wrong, this same seller will take back the product and refund: it just happened to me with expensive emu boots, the real deal: they were too big, I tried and return and I am told I will be refunded.....Not with BERKEY despite their gargle about how incredible their products are! My question is if your products are at so incredible Mr BERKEY, why is it that you do not apply this policy? maybe because you know the worth of your products: that simple! simply uncredible.

This is truly a worldwide fraud, no doubt.
