Fitted kitchen

So firstly I would like to say that the salesman was great, understood what we wanted, and then went on to lay out a great kitchen.
Then we were promised the kitchen delivered on a Friday, and fitters to arrive on Monday.

So kitchen arrived, and filled our house with all the boxes etc. We had no room to move at all. Not ideal as we have a 1 year old son, who was trying to climb and touch all of it!!
But we thought, it's only for the weekend....
No unfortunately not!
On the Monday we waited for the fitters to arrive, having completely cleared our kitchen out, no washing machine, dryer, microwave, minimal plates and cutlery, all the food packed away etc.
BUT!!! No fitters arrived. No one called or told us what was going to happen.

So I called them and they were none the wiser.
Apparently the fitters booked in, didn't work for the company anymore.

The company's solution was....
Well there wasn't one. We were told we would have to wait another week.
So another week of house full of boxes, and no plates, cutlery, food

We spent a fortune on tale away food for a week.
And the compensation offered was £100.

Now the kitchen has been fitted, and the kitchen itself is fitted very well, and the quality of kitchen is top notch.

But the fitters have chased out lots of wall to move plug sockets and power connections, and they have not even plastered over it! We have holes all over the wall where they have just left it.

I have tried to call bettaliving several times, to complain about the state the fitters left my wall in, and to collect the £100 refund.

There customer service line just doesn't ever get picked up. The longest I have waited on hold is 45mins!!!!!

We have paid a lot of money for this kitchen, but we wanted quality fixtures, so avoided b and q, idea etc. We also thought the price would cover customer service aswell.
But no. We got quality fixtures, terrible customer service, and left with holes all around my kitchen wall's.

I would of given 0 stars. But the quality of the fixtures is still lovely and we'll made, so I scored 2 stars.

Very happy with the service

The communication from the beginning to after the kitchen was fitted has been very good.
Only one hiccup , we noticed that in some of the shelves in the cupbosrds some of the support pegs were missing, fortunatley the same day i received a phone call from yourselves asking if we were happy with the Kitchen etc, and i mentioned the support pegs , the young man said that he would send some on to us, which didnt arrive after two week. Another call from yourselves asking if everything was ok ...i mentioned the support pegs again and the Lady noticed it had been written in our details but must of been overlooked... she said that she would send them out to us by first class post , which she was true to her word and we received them quickly...Problem solved.

The Kitchen fitters were excellent , respectful, and hard working young men.. we have no complaints at all.
Just disappointed in the stainless steel sink unit as it is showing light scratches in the very first week, as i use a dish washer and only rinse a few things out.. i don't know how the scratches have occurred, i am keeping a close eye on it. Thank you for our lovely kitchen, it has taken me a long time to find a company that i thought i could trust, my very old reliable kitchen was over 30 years old but old fashioned.. and really needed updating .. and very happy now with my new Shaker kitchen .
With regards
Kathryn and Trevor Bartle

Vision

My bedroom - the vision was shared with Ross and together we worked out what worked, what was possible and within our budget.
No complaints.

The kitchen - The first guy who designed the kitchen left us feeling confused & ill informed about the whole process. The second designer done a much better design and listen a lot more and gave us a much better layout of the kitchen but this was over shadowed by the white goods pre-chosen by the original designer and not us!

If it wasn't for the good customer service and my attention to detail we would have been left with no electrical sockets to plug in a kettle.

The kitchen process was awful but came good and the fitters was fanatic leaving a great job with a kitchen & bedroom we are happy with.

We would recommend you to others but provide advice to slow the sales / designer and ensure they provide information on plan layout, products / appliances, price break down & sockets... everyone loves a cuppa!

Thank you.

Finally have wardrobes 😆

Visited the showroom with my parents. We both booked appointments and were offered a £250 refer a friend offer. the lady Ellie came to do an initial design which we liked but had little chance to discuss whether we wanted them as 'the offer' they had on finished that day!!! we ended up proceeding with the order as the quality and product wa's what we wanted. I feel ellie could have been a little more accurate with dome of the info she provided with regard to payments etc and the role of the surveyor. the surveyor came and completed hand drawn plans of the wardrobes in a little more detail than ellie and suitable for the fitters to work from. Wardrobes were ready to be fitted within 4 weeks. The fitter was named garry. He was a lovely man who worked from the moment he arrived at 8.30, his work was fantastic and we are do happy with the product he has left us with. The main thing I don't appreciate with the process is having to pay cash to the surveyor and fitter for it to then be BACS transferred back into your account!!!!! overall though extremely happy with the wardrobes.
Also not heard anything back from the refer a friend £250, as my parents who was the referral have also had wardrobes fitted.
Now to hear the company has gone into administration has left us with some questions to be answered.

I would not use these again poor service and poor after sales service

I bought a kitchen from better living. The install dare was delayed as they had not finished another job. I did some of the work myself, as I had done the work they agreed to repay me the money that was charged but I only got this month's after the installation and only when I involved the finance company who got the money back for me. As for the install, the sink leaked and better living could not send the installation team back even though it was promised on many occasions (when they could be bothered talking to me) they did agree to pay for the plumber who I found to fix the problem (about 12 weeks after installation) the plumber also commented that the fixing itself was poorly put together and the fitter must have known that the fitting will leak

Issues still unresolved

The kitchen looks great!
The service leading up to having the kitchen installed was also faultless.

However, the aftercare when there is a problem is shocking!
We had our kitchen fitted and unfortunately the incorrect sink was fitted.
In addition the hot and cold taps have been put the wrong way round. I.E hot tap has cold running out and cold tap has hot running out.
When we called to have this rectified the attitude was poor.
This was not a fault we had made... it was the kitchen company that made this mistake!
They repeatedly told us they would call us back and failed to do so.
When I called for a fourth time to discuss the issue, the attitude I received was unacceptable and we were treated as a nuisance.
Where had the nothing is too much trouble attitude gone from pre-kitchen fit?
After several more calls to chase the issue we were told that the correct sink and new worktop had been ordered and we would be called in 7-10 days to deliver and arrange fitting.
We chased this up the following week to then be told the order had never even been placed for our replacement!
The order was then placed.
Organising delivery has also been unacceptable- this is the fault of the company therefore delivery should be made to suit us! They refused to deliver on a Saturday and arranged delivery on a Monday so we had a neighbour sit in... they never turned up!
We rearranged and again they did not turn up!
They finally agreed to deliver this Saturday and shockingly, once again they did not turn up!!
The service we have received has been unacceptable, the finished product is not what we ordered and there seems to be no urgency or effort to rectify the issues.
I would not recommend betta living to others, I understand mistakes are made and if the mistake had been rectified swiftly and with a better attitude it would be fine but their aftercare service has so far failed us.

Rude fitters, delays, product and fitting faults and still not fully finished after 2 months

High pressure sales tactics - the rep stayed in our home until after 11pm to push for a sale. He also designed a kitchen which the company couldn't supply (a breakfast bar that was 1200mm wide and the maximum they supply is 900mm). He put the sink in the wrong place and told us they could supply a bin which would fitake under the sink which couldn't.

Rude fitter - started a day late and was constantly on the phone so we had to discuss fitting issues with his apprentices (who were lovely). They also did a half day on the Wednesday which we were not told would be the case. They did finish on the Friday as planned but following their departure we noticed they had left sawdust in cupboards and not rubbed out pencil marks after fitting handles. Small but when added to everything else is just careless. The fitting team were sent from Sheffield which we found ridiculous as there is a Betta Living showroom in Nottingham, which is where we live, and meant they were wanting to leave each day by 3pm ish to miss the traffic.

KItchen issues - following the fit, we noticed a number of marks and damage to the door fronts of various doors. The foil wrapping is not done well and has bubbles and nicks in it. The wrong parts were sent so our integrated microwave couldn't be put in, and still hasn't been two months later. We have has all parts with damage reordered without any problem through our area manager, however they use UPS who put a card through when they miss us but do not take the package to the location stated on the card. On two occasions we have had to go somewhere totally different to the collection point that UPS have written on the card. While chasing one of the missing parcels with Betta Living, I waited 38 minutes on hold before finally giving up.

We have complained to Caple about our induction hob as the glass top has already got two scratches on despite never having had anything other than induction safe pans placed on it. They do not seem to care at all and have been incredibly hasty to say they won't cover the damage under the warranty. It was referred to their complaints department two weeks ago but we've not heard anything at all.

The middle pan drawer collasped on my husband when he pulled it out this week and we found that of the 4 (seriously small) screws holding it up, only 1 was still in place. I'm glad it was him opening the drawer and not our young son as this could have seriously injured him.

We still don't have a fully functioning kitchen after over two months since it was first fitted and although each time I speak to Betta Living, they reorder parts or answer my queries, they just don't seem to actually care. In fact, one set of doors which they said they would order 2 weeks ago never arrived and when I chased it up, the woman who said she would place the order, hadn't.

As my kitchen fit is guaranteed by the original fitter, I have no choice but to have this rude individual back to fit all these reordered parts. Who knows how long it will be before they are able to schedule him to come all the way from Sheffield.

We are, overall, seriously dissatisfied and wish we had used a smaller, local company with a vested interest in their customers and not a faceless national company to whom we are just another order. My advice would most definitely be to avoid them at all costs.

The service that was provided to me was brilliant

The service provided by Bettaliving was very good. I found them to be efficient as they kept me in the loop of every stage of the process. I especially felt that Charlotte was very professional when l dealt with her. The fitter Ziggy was brilliant he cleaned after himself and left no mess. He did a brilliant job and l love my kitchen. I would recommend Ziggy as a good fitter. I can honestly say that given the mixed reviews l read about bettaliving that they have done a good job.

An expensive mistake

My entire experience has been painful from end to end. Pushy sales, inherent design flaws, defective materials and worst of all, improper fitting. All this means that I am still awaiting compensation and remedial works 2 years and 3 months (and around 6-7 visits) after the original installation. Various parts of the kitchen have failed due to the shoddy installation (I believe that the fitter is no longer used by Betta Living). Customer service is unresponsive and largely unhelpful. Avoid at all costs unless you can get extremely robust assurances as to who will be fitting your kitchen. I am on the verge of litigation to get the matter sorted.

Wardrobe Installation

We opted for a complete fitted wardrobe system, and we are happy with the result. Looks good, and has given us great storage. The shop staff, the surveyor and the fitter were really helpful and polite. The fitter in particular was a very nice lad and he did a really good job. The only two gripes we had, was the head office staff muddled the fitting date and were not particularly bothered that they had! However, thanks to the quick actions of the local manager of the fitters, he sorted it out for us, and it was done on the correct day. The other problem was, that we wanted to pay cash. But this appears to give companies a problem, as they don't want to actually take real cash (which in some ways we understand because of security etc) or they want you to pay by card and charge you a fee, or to take HP agreements out, which we did not want. We gave them a cheque in the end! This "cash" problem is not just with Betta Living, we have come across it several times lately, its obvious that company policies are after more money from you. They are making it deliberately difficult to use cash, and it is pushing people into credit agreements - just not on!
We would though still recommend this company as on the whole the work is very good.
