Had only the best experience with the hop on hop off bus company. The buses are modern and clean. A few times guests came back with a complaint, but the team always handled it professionally.

Very expensive for what it is
Website and app out of date for the Big Bus Muscat and gave completely the incorrect information and at odds with the leaflet so one did not know which was correct. Very expensive at £53.50 each (even over 48 hours) for a tour of small city it only took 1 hour 45 minutes to do the whole tour (without the hop off) A good way to see the city but v expensive
Royal Caribbean Cruise 30th Jan to 6th Feb 2017
Excellent value for money. Amazing City the Big Bus Tour gave us a great flavour of the area and Culture of the locals. Would definitely recommend for the day when time is limited.
not really worth the price
I was looking forward to this tour, expecting a lot regarding the high price we had to pay. - I have done many hop-on-hop-off tours all around the world and that one in Muscat was defintetely the most expensive one!! -
It turned out that many stops described on the map were not part of the tour. Some other stops were not regarded as a STOP, but just passed by.
Apart from that the tour was ok. Clean bus, free little water bottle and well working Headsets.

Excellent
Good way to get to see the city. Only negative was the missing bus stop sign by the fort and harbour, ended up walking in circles trying to find it.
Excellent choice for a short trip in muscat
Had a wonderful experience with the BigBus team in Muscat. The team was very helpful. The trip was well planned. However, you should include the grand mosque with the trip, especially for the 2-day package. Competition with taxis shouldn't be the excuse.
Good to use, but so out of date on the website
We bought a three-city ticket for Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and can recommend the bus for a 'get to know the area' tour. The staff are very friendly, efficient and helpful and if you are taking the tour from a cruise stop then the bus service calls at the port terminal, and drops off at the terminal which is very helpful.
But.........for goodness sake update the Big Bus website, it is completely out of date, with wrong maps, incorrect info and timings which is very annoying when trying to plan an itinerary with limited time to take the tour. Also the tour commentary on the bus is about 3 years old, and needs to be updated.
long waiting time, not much to see
we were quit dissapointed on the Big Bus Tour in Muscat. There isn't much to see. Sure, there are some highlights, but there were not to be left for one hour. Information about that was unclear. Also on how to get to various sites. Very unclear.
Next to that the bus was 'always late'. We've waited over 45 min. for the bus, several times. This, while the bus promised to run every 30 minutes...I think it ran only once per hour.
One time, the bus was full and so we've waited literally 1,45min. at a boring busstop for the bus.
This shouldnt have been a problem if the tour would have costed 15-max 25 euro/dollar. But the tour was 65 euro/dollar pp. Extremely expensive for what you get. Out of balance.
the audio set, information, tour was perfect
they also provided water, super.

Not bad
Pros: taxis are expensive in Muscat so this works out handy, variety of stops; all the main ones in the city, clean buses, good commentary, friendly staff
Cons: the timetable online did not match the stops and timetable on the leaflet which in turn didn't match where the bus actually stopped, it wasn't clear what the route was, I was told at one stop there would be another bus in 20 mins so I got off there. There then wasn't a bus as promised and I waited by the side of the road for an hour (solo female) before I gave up & got a taxi. I later complained about this & got my taxi fare back but it's not the point. It's expensive compared to bus tours I've done in other cities.

5 star tours
We were on a cruise and when we docked the Big Bus Tour people were always on hand to show you to the bus and answer any questions VERY Courteous. As for the tour, again excellent, you are handed earphone headsets and you can help yourself to the bottled water from the fridge. Audible guide very clear and informative. We didn't have long to wait around for the next bus, very prompt service. 5*
Good way to get an overview of big cities!
Used the BIG Bus Tours in Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai on a recent cruise holiday. It is a good way to see everything of interest and listen to an informative commentary on history, traditions etc. Buses could have been more frequent perhaps especially in Dubai as we were only there for one day so could not take advantage of all 3 lines to see everything including getting off and spending time at several stops. Abu Dhabi was the best tour with many interesting stops.
Worth while experience to get to see the city
Best way to get an overall experience within a small amount of time. Does not include the Mosque so you need to do that on your own which is OK to do by Taxi however only early morning when it is open
Canadians in Muscat
Always a really great way to see a new city in a day. We have used them in many different countries. We appreciated the transfer bus picking us up at the cruise ship terminal and taking us to join the regular route. Nice touch. The only complaint we had was the lack of prominent signage at the stops. It was hard to remember exactly where to re-board the bus to continue.
Too long trip
My opinion is that there couldbe two different tour in Muscat, becase the traffic are jammed and our tourists time is limited. The time between the tours could be shorter. The wiews by the routes and drivers whas ok.

Terrible Experience, NO response to urgent requests
I have emailed regarding a refund but not received any response. I was told by the Manager in Muscat on the day the tour was due that I could receive a refund but Big bus has not responded in 2 weeks.

Muscat
We booked our tour before arriving in Muscat. We booked a tri ticket for Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai which was cheaper than buying individually.Joining the tour was friendly and effortless. The tour itself was enjoyable and interesting. Would use this company again.
Exceeded expectations!
Tri-city ( Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai ) was ideal ! We will certainly use Big Bus services in the future and recommend to our friends.
However, in your interests of possible safety and customer convenience we would like to offer a suggestion: the installation of seat-back, fold-down water-bottle holders or netting arrangement. This would prevent the rolling-round the bus floor of empties and bottles being tucked into various crevices. This is offered merely as an opinion and not really a complaint. We certainly appreciated the availability of chilled water.
Tri-city Tour-Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai (Nov 2016)
It's definitely a convenient and relaxed way to have a general understanding of the city. The tour was very well organized and the staff were helpful in all three cities.
A quick note:
-discounted tickets can be purchased online although it might not be available all the time. I was travelling with my partner, we successfully purchased two discounted tickets online but it was no longer available when another friend joined us a week later.
-it was advertised online that there is a complimentary shuttle between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, or vice versa, with the purchase of the big bus tickets and it didn't specify any time restriction. We were later told by the staff that it's only available after Nov 15th. We ended up hiring a taxi between the two cities.
-The Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is a must-see!!
Awesome!!!
No trouble with Tri City ticket.. the Extras i.e. Dhow cruise, Desert Sunset.. Excellent!! Staff were courteous, pleasant and helpful
I had great time
Easiest way to travel and enjoy the city is through Big Bus City Tour. Most of the stop are near to the place where we planned to have sight seeing at. You can have your own time until the next bus come which is every 30 minutes. Drivers are nice and I do wants to mention one of them who is Mr Abu for the smooth drive during our tour. It's just the right way to visit most of the interesting spot when you have a short period of time in Muscat. I do recommend Big Bus to everyone.
