Ordered an orange/purple table lamp from Amazon that came via Birco Distribution. Delivery was timely but the lampshade had what I can only describe as a watermark/glue run. Contacted Birco and was... See more

If I could put no stars I would!!!!

If I could put no stars I would!!!!

If I could put no stars I would!!!!! Ordered 6 heaters from Birco (same company) nearly 2 months ago 3 OK 2 smashed one 2nd hand!!!!! Absolutely discusting service. No notification of delivery at all. Took photos as proof. They blamed their supplier. Said they had ordered replacements 1 month later still nothing so called to chase up, manager unable to talk to me about my complaint. Numerous emails to them explaining loss of business as community martial arts club too cold for kids to practice in. Once again blamed supplier as" waiting for manufacturers to make them. Asked for refund 2 weeks ago, gave them a week to sort heaters or refund by 22nd December, emailed 21st to check progress only one heater available so requested refund. Next day 3 heaters delivered 2 broken + one working order!!!!! When i emailed to tell them, (22nd )apparently I will have to wait as a refund could not be authorised til 3rd in the new year!!!! When I explained I needed the money to sort out alternative heating ready for club reopening in January, I was told that I would have to wait till the 8th!!! There is no chance of speaking to manager as he does not return calls or emails. Trading standards being contacted. All emails and photos being sent. Never again!

Law breakers and liars

So I purchased a lamp from them and didn't open immediately as I was away so was about 5 days after as my daughter took it in. Once opened I found that the lamp was damaged. I contacted them for a replacement and they said I only had 2 days to report damage which is completely breaking trade laws. I wrote them a letter on the advice from trading standards. No reply. I contacted PayPal to get my money back and returned my parcel is g royal mail signed for and they have declined they have received it after paying £16 to return. This company acts unlawfully and do not care about the customer. They are crooks.

What a terrible company

What a terrible company. Take money before they even have a hint of stock. Mark sends out snide emails at every opportunity blaming the customer the issues. And then take forever to refund for orders they cannot fulfil for months. Avoid at all costs - and watch out for their sister sites too - they surely can't be any better.

Short-shipment, poor communications

UPDATE: they did respond to my complaint, and refund the money for the missing lamps quickly.

Short-shipment, no communications. As with other reviewers, I found communications and delivery very poor. No updates from them, and they were vague about delivery times when I called them. They don't answer the phone much, sometimes ignore emails, and fail to provide progress updates.

Eventual delivery was a short-shipment, with no explanation or refund offered.

Hmmm...Cheap prices...Or not?

The prices are that are advertised on their website are certainly very competitive, but I only received part of my order, and could get no information whatsoever from the company about whether or not the missing items would be sent on at a later date. This was despite sending three emails over the course of three days - both to their general customer service email address, and a separate email address of a representative named Mark - who seems to be the person who is responsible for dealing with such enquiries - all of which went unanswered.

These unexpected shortages in the shipment meant that the fixed delivery charge of £6.95 as a proportion of the value of the goods I actually received was much higher than it otherwise would have been if they had sent me everything, and as a result the overall transaction ended up being poor value despite the low prices apparently being offered on their website.

From my experience, I therefore cannot recommend this company. It seems they are using the high fixed delivery charges to compensate for the advertised low prices of the goods by only supplying part of the order in each shipment...and trying to get information from them afterwards is like trying to get blood from a stone.

Terrible delivery

Ordered a light switch from them on 27th November.
receieved an update on the 29th saying that the item was delayed to the 5th of December.
Got a MyHermes shipping Id on the 6th on December.
Still not delivered on the 9th of December - after a 40 minute phone call to MyHermes am told this is only due in 3 days.
The company took forever to ship the item - and then, when they finally shipped it, decided it would be a good idea to use one of the most unreliable delivery companies in the world (no doubt to save a few pennies)
A Royal Mail 48 hour is the least they could do after my long wait.

In addition, having emailed them for details on my shipment, the response I received was :

------------------
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX myhermes

Kind Regards
Mark

Not exactly great customer service
