3.2 BILLION POUNDS!!!

Yes, £3200000000 is what Birmingham City Council spends each year!

And what does the taxpayer actually get for it?

They are impossible to get to actually talk to, and when you do they are utterly useless. No help at all.

You have to look at Birmingham, how much of a mess it all is, and then look at that budget, and think to yourself - what are they spending that 3.2 billion pounds on? Paying people to sit around and do nothing?

Ignorant morons just ignore your complaints

I had an issue with Birmingham City Council, which I complained about. Their response was a complete fob off, basically they did not address my complaint at all and just said "sorry we did that" - I actually wanted what I was complaining about resolving! That is what I pay for! They then ignored a request to review my complaint, and have since ignored any further communication.

It has been over 2 calendar months since I originally complained, they are supposed to respond withing 15 days and review within 20 ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN WEBSITE. They do not actually do what they say they will do, they are just a bunch of incompetent, lazy, lying thieves. There is no accountability, the management of Birmingham City Council is appalling. Clearly the message from the top is that failing to provide any services to customers and ignoring them until they hopefully go away is acceptable. It isn't. I pay money, I want the service I pay for.

Received a parking fine after the machine I paid the fees into didn't print a ticket. I left a note on the windscreen and got 2 witnesses to prove I paid. I spoke to a civic parking operative a few streets away and he said "just appeal if you get a ticket". 2 times after appealing, the council parking department have asked for more information or I could just pay up. This is despite sending them 6 photos proving the machine wasn't working.
Has anyone else had this hassle? Is it Birmingham City Council policy to keep asking for more information in the hope drivers will just pay up? However I am now expecting to hear from the courts. I'm sure the local magistrates court is not aware of this behaviour. Would a freedom of information request find out if this is widespread?

Birmingham City Council need to be held accountable for the destruction of families.

Birmingham City Council are the most incompetent organisation imaginable. From my experience I can see why there are so many families struggling in despair, consequently putting a strain on the equally incompetent children’s survives there to pick up the pieces of families let down by the. 6 years I have fought for my children and I. Sent in photographic evidence, audio, video. Doctors,MP’s local councillors, have all written letters on my behalf whilst fighting cancer. All evidence and and complaints apparently lost or no evidence of them, or complaints cases closed without my consent.
I have the forwarding copies. Housing officers who will make promises in front of my children filling us with false hope of the chance of our lives improving, but more interested in discussing their private lives, then never to be heard from again. Leaving us with damp and leaks and oil marks from vandalism whilst sick and caring for a child with Long Covid. Ending up with 2 children with mental health issues because of The sbsolo hell we have endured and the constant brick wall when reaching out for help. 6 years ago a GP demanded you move my family warning if not it would have a negative impact on my health. 6 years later a traumatised and sick family. Birmingham City Council, you are responsible for the complete downfall of both myself and my children, and many others families too. Glad the Commmon Wealth Games went well though, nothing like prioritising.

Birmingham is not what it use to be the…

Birmingham is not what it use to be the council don't care about use like really Birmingham have more share home than actually homes for people to have a family. The place is really bad and seen that the council is not trying they best to actually help people to get a better life the system is build in a way not to support must of use they just leave use to rotten in hell.
I have a friend as well ben her for years work and pay his tax the bam ben out of work since shut down did start and is bidding for homes he bid Exactly on time and still can't get a hone he is a very clean person and tidy I can put my hand on that but some people just need they own space to build they self back up to how they were before but they are not getting the right help to move on are start back over some get comfortable and stay in that situation because that's how you program them to be just put them in shared and forget out the forget about getting them an actual home of you can not live in a shared home so do some people as well and the council is definitely not helping them to get back up on there feet sole fall in bad hands are Bad company and start to mash up there life and future and I put the blame on the council for a lot of people that fall into bad hands are Bad company when they could of become somebody in life. But no council just put them in shared and leave them expecially Birmingham going 3 years and my friend can't get back on his feet not like he is a bad person are a trouble person he don't deserve this and if the system was more build to help and no think about profit a lot of people would ben happy not in trouble, dead, are in a shred home smelling stinking drugs whole day
You all turn Good to Bad just by your selfish ways his dad dead mom is not around no brother nothing just him on his own I tell him evertime he is a strong person for what he is going true and have no help sometimes all somebody need is just a lil help are someone to show them the door and I wish I could of help him
That's why it make me realise the good do suffer for the bad in the place
Of he was not that strong he would of ben a next male in Birmingham walking up and down the road are lost of mind from mental health. Come on man reason your in that position is to help HELP THATS RIGHT HELP you can be the helping hand are the person to show a lot of people the right door to take but no you judge how can you judge when you make the good suffer for the bad.

5 weeks in a row binmen have left my rubbish

My waste has been delibrately left by the binmen and recycling men for 5 weeks in a row! No tags left on the bin. I have sent Birmingham Council missed collections online and by phone call and still they do not collect it. I get a given a complaint number and nothing is done about it. On Thursday 14 July 2022 I called and said again they have not collected the waste, I was told that it would be collected on Saturday 16th July 2022, NO WASTE WAS COLLECTED. I have had to get rid of the waste myself - why am I paying my council tax if its not being collected?

Robbing scum

Robbing scum. Why do we bother paying council tax anymore. They charge us through the roof for council tax etc. In these tough times when money isn't flush and some of us can't afford an electric car that are a waste of time anyhow. We then get charged for emissions. What an absolute joke. How long are we the peole going to put up with having our pants pulled down o a daily basis. DOWN WITH THE GOVERMENT SCUM.

The clean air zone is state backed robbery. I had no idea that Birmingham had a clean air zone, and breached it accidently - it didn't exist last time i went to Birmingham, and I didn't see any signs. Presumably, even if i had it would have been a bit late. They charge you £120 for a first offence, and take nothing you say into consideration, and, unlike parking fines don't hold the reduction while you appeal. The very least they could do to be reasonable is let people off first offences and hold the reduction until after the appeal.

incompetent, unaccountable, clueless, useless.

I needed an emergency repair for a roof leak. My flat is managed by the council (housing repairs). I have since had to call them up countless times just to get the job started. Every time you call you get through to someone new who has no idea what is going on and tell you the same thing - either that they are waiting for an update from Fortem (contractor), or that the job has been cancelled and needs to be re-opened.
It is now 6 months later, I have submitted complaints, called almost daily, contacted my ward councilors to help... I'm not sure what else I can do, and I'm losing sleep.
The housing repairs team are a polite bunch, but this does not change the fact that as an organisation they are utterly incompetent and unaccountable (they will avoid you speaking to the same person twice at all costs. They will never give you a call back, or an email address). Part of the issue seems to be the computer systems they work with, but whatever it is, I deeply regret buying an ex-council flat and I hope I never have to turn to the council again. It has been the worst service I have ever received in my life.
My case is still not over. My neighbours had to deal with them once and it ended up going to court. I can only hope that my simple roof leak does not end up being such a colossal drain of people's time, effort and resources, but 6 months on, I fear the worst.
This is not just a bad experience, you can see the other reviews here and anyone around me who has come across this organisation says the same. This organisation has deep-rooted problems.

If Birmingham City Council is useless

If Birmingham City Council was a private company it would have been bankrupt years ago
Useless in evert category, run by incompetent imbeciles and employees that only want to retire on their nice little pension
Don’t know, don’t care is the stock answer
I think council tax payers should be allowed to go on strike until a minimum, basic level or service is delivered
Total shambles

I took a neighbor's 1 year old child to the children's hospital. As there's no parking there I parked in a multi story nearby but couldn't find any signs for the entrance and ended up driving in a bus lane for a few hundred yards which was otherwise empty. I received no payment for taking the child but the council fined me £30 on top. I am disabled myself but have no blue badge etc and am on a low income as I'm only able to work part time. Cheers Birmingham. I was doing something charitable and even though I emailed to you the circumstances you refused a refund!
