The presentation of the watch and the good price caught my attention. After the purchase, the very professional and friendly communication as well as the incredibly fast delivery in perfect packaging and very nice present confirmed my initial feeling.

Efficient, responsive, knowledgable and made the whole process of buying a watch from Bloombar straightforward and enjoyable. Didn’t feel pressured at any time. Felt free to ask questions. No rush. Fair price and pleased with my purchase.

Whilst my purchase was at the lower end of the range of watches that Bloombar deal in, I felt valued and at no point uncomfortable.

When Bloombar describes a watch as having “papers”, do not take their word on it. Check! I recently bought a watch from them through watchcollecting.com. It was described as having “papers”. This was not the case as the only thing that came with was a plastic warranty card. They (and watchcollecting.com) insisted that this was correct. I’m a member of a pretty well informed watch forum and having posed the question to some of the experts there, their opinions concurred with mine that a plastic warranty card per se does not constitute “papers”. I wrote to Sam Buckell at Bloombar who disappointingly refuted any responsibility by replying, “As our contractual agreement as well as yours is with Watch Collecting, not with us we have referred your complaint to them with our comments.” This statement is disingenuous as watchcollecting.com (as all auction houses) state clearly that they act as agents for the seller. This is not the the very first time I’ve bought from Bloombar but it will be the last. When things go well, they are fine. When things go wrong, however, they will do nothing by way of customer service. Myopically foolish..

UPDATE: Mr Bloom states that he offered to source an operating manual for me. That is strange as that is precisely what I requested only to receive a reply that basically said (as mentioned in my above review - & I paraphrase here) “take it up with watchcollecting.com”. I never received any such offer from him/Bloombar (and yes, I do check my junk mail) and I stand by my review and conclusion: great “fair-weather friends” but when things go wrong, don’t expect customer service.

UPDATE #2: Mr Bloom sms’d me a screenshot of his email (which I never received) and accused me of lying about it AND “slander”. In the said (but not received email) his offer is not to provide me with the operating manual but to “assist you to purchase a missing operation manual … from ebay or IWC”. This comes across as adding insult to injury. (Despite his protestations that most mainstream watch manufacturers with the exception of Patek Philippe don’t provide paper documents, it is strange as in the last couple of years I have bought AD supplied Rolexes that came with the physical papers. A quick search on Chrono24 also shows 2023 Rolexes with paper booklets..). With the greatest respect to Mr Bloom, I do not need his “assistance” to buy the manual on ebay having been (primarily as buyer) on it for nearly 20 years & having received just short of 1500 100% positive reviews. When I queried if the cost of the manual was to be borne by me, he replied that it was immaterial who paid for it. Really?? BTW, even if what I reported was untrue (which most certainly is not), Mr Bloom should check the definition of “slander” vis-a-vis “libel”.
