Lots of Fake Leads, Be Careful

I listed my boat on Boat Trader hoping to reach serious buyers, but ALL of inquiries were not genuine.
All had fake offers using cashier’s checks or offshore deals, or tried to sell history reports or unrelated services instead of actually buying the boat, and then simply disappeared after initial contact. A lot of scam responses! Lots of wasted time.

Joey was fantastic

Joey was fantastic
I just read a lot of unfavorable experiences with boat trader. I use their app for 12 weeks and had a lot of scammers which I reported to the company, they blocked those people immediately. I\n Wish they would do more vetting on these scammers so that us in the selling world don't have to deal with it, but I'm sure they're working on a process to rectify this problem. I just reinstituted my ad on boat trader today and I am assured that I will get scammers, but now I know how to deal with them immediately. I don't give my phone number out nor my email. I only use the boat trader email so we can document the crazy stuff that often occurs. I don't understand why people don't get good results with bolt trader. I've had great results with many of the customer service representatives that I've spoken with over the last months, they were very helpful and took care of any problems that I had as quickly as they were able to by the system that they were working with.
I cn only say to people that are having problems.ChillDon't hang up , don't email call the Boat trader, telephone phone number and speak with somebody live. You will get a good result.
I hope you listen to the words of an old man who has had many, many interfaces with boat trader over the last 8 months, they're nice people. They are not the ones that are scamming us sellers. It's the crazy people that want to bilk you out of your money. Be smarter than they are. Don't give them your telephone number or email. And if you do, block them once they start being horrible, which they generally are almost immediately.
Veterans care about people!

Horrible!

I paid $169 and listed my boat. Immediately two men inquired…but were both scammers and subsequently blocked from contacting me. The next day I wrote to customer service requesting a full refund as a single older woman did not feel safe using their platform. Zero response after three requests. Customer service non existent!

Hi Sherry, we’re truly sorry for the experience you had. We completely understand how unsettling it can feel to receive suspicious inquiries. Although we do have many owners who successfully sell their boats, we take reports of scam activity very seriously and are continuously adding new safeguards and improving our tools to help reduce scam outreach and create a safer experience for sellers and buyers.

After reviewing your account, we can confirm your listing was removed shortly after you reached out. For refund requests, we do require a quick phone call with our Customer Support team so we can verify the request, but we understand that this step may not have been clear based on the communication you received.

To help make this right and avoid any further delay, a member of our Customer Support team will be reaching out to you today to help complete your refund request and ensure everything is resolved as quickly as possible.

Hi Gabe, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that you feel disappointed with your listing and billing outcome. We take concerns like this seriously and looked into your account to better understand what happened.

Your listing was originally purchased as a 6-week advertising package with auto-renew enabled. As part of that plan, renewal charges of $299 were processed on 10/22 and 12/3, and reminder emails were sent prior to each renewal, along with confirmation emails after each payment was processed.

When you contacted our support team on 12/18, our representative offered a partial refund as a courtesy; however, you ended the call before we were able to complete that resolution.

While we understand auto-renew plans can sometimes be confusing, our intention is always to provide clear communication and transparent billing. If you’re open to continuing the conversation, we’d really appreciate the opportunity to review this again with you directly and see what we can do to help.

Please contact our Customer Support team at 1-866-373-5602 or send us an email and we’ll make sure it receives a follow-up.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Sally Hunter is Awesome

Sally Hunter is without a doubt (and it's not even close) to being the best Account Manager I have had with Boat Wizard. I've been doing this a while. i probably can not count on my fingers and toes how many account managers I've had.

I started doing this with Redish Yacht Brokers in November of 2003. A quick stint with Punta Gorda Yacht Brokers in and around 2012. Eight or nine years with Pier One Yacht Sales and now another 3 years and counting with Stamp Yacht Sales.

I used wait days, weeks and one time it took months to get a responce (with other account managers) . Sally takes care of things almost imediatley and one time let me know about an issue in advance, before I even knew.

Do not ever let Sally leave.. Please pay her more money and give her a big fat Christmas bonus too.

THE AD RENEWAL PROCESS DOES NOT SEND YOU A WARNING OF THE IMPENDING CHARGE. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS! I TRIED TO CANCEL AND THE LINK THEY SENT ME WOULD NOT WORK. TRIED CALLING AND THEY THEN SAID THE CALL NEVER WAS RECORDED. I REPORTED THIS TO MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY AN THEY REVERSED THE CHARGE.
STAY AWAY FORM THEM. ALL THE RESPONSES TO MY AD WERE ALL FRAUDULENT!! DOZENS OF THEM.

Hi Jeffrey, we understand your frustration and appreciate you reaching out. We looked into your account and can confirm that an autorenewal reminder was emailed a few days before the charge, along with the renewal details shown at checkout and in your confirmation email.

We do see that you spoke to our rep on December 3rd, 9 days after you were charged, about your refund request.

Regarding the inquiries you received, though this can happen on marketplaces, we continuously work to identify and block them. Reporting suspicious messages to us helps us take action quickly.

If you’d like us to review anything further or continue the conversation, feel free to reach out to CustomerService@BoatTrader.com and we’ll be glad to help.

I had mistakenly saved a search and didn’t realize it. Hence everything i went to search for something, that saved search came up. I didn’t know what i did nor how to correct it. Thankfully Jennifer saved the day! She is always quick to respond and very knowledgeable.
Thank you Jennifer. Much appreciated.

Connected me with a buyer for my boat

Connected me with a buyer for my boat. Downside was I got a lot of scam contacts that would waste time with a bunch of questions then ask for you to buy a report. Would be good if boat trader could figure out a way to register buyers and weed these out.

Too many Scammers

The majority of contacts were scammers trying to get me to buy a history report, or trying to enlist me in there on-line search service or trying to make a down payment for a phony 'over-the amount' cashiers check scheme.

Hi Kenneth, we’re sorry you encountered that. Unfortunately, asking sellers to purchase a history report is one of the more common tactics scammers use online. We actually call this out as a red flag on our website so sellers know what to watch for.

We are always refining our tools and safeguards to help limit suspicious activity. If you’re willing to share any of the messages you received, you can forward them to fraudalert@boattrader.com

I had only scammers answer my ads

I had only scammers answer my ads; this is my first time with real scammers. Here's my experience and what to look for:
- They want to pay via cashiers check but "are out of town" so will call the bank or have someone else do the cashiers check for them.
- They want to add monies to check to have you also pay for the boat movers.
- They want you to remove your ad immediately.
- They continue to check back to see if you have received the check.
