This is a scam site. When you sign up they turn on auto-renewal AUTOMATICALLY. It can only be cancelled by phone call to them, but they never answer the phone or permit you to leave a voice mail. They just cut you off at precisely 12 minutes of waiting.
I would give it zero stars if I could. Total waste of money. Use Facebook marketplace instead!
I posted my boat on boat traders.com. It was the worst decision $200 was a waste of money. It was purchased off of Facebook marketplace within 15 days there were no customer support with boattraders.com they had the wrong information don’t use them. It’s a waste of money. terrance Stroman, 2012, hurricane 189
I bought a boat on this site years ago so I listed my boat -- what a crap site. First and foremost, they charge every two weeks autorenew only and you have to call to turn it off. What a despicable and should be illegal practice. You cannot turn it off online. Of course you can "upgrade" and do anything you want online except turn off autorenew. Second of all, I got a few legit emails but by I also listed on Facebook (for free) and got way, way more inquiries and more were local. Boat Trader stinks.
This website is very poorly designed. The only point of existence is to be a lead capture service with some passive income from people stupid enough to list their boats on here. The weakest part of the whole system is the fact that potential buyers don’t even have to leave a phone number to be contacted. That should be a requirement.
Annoying ass website... I would have a karen for an ex-wife than shop on boat trader
If I could give 'ZERO' stars I would. As noted by multiple people, this is a TERRIBLE website and should be avoided at all costs. As with others, posted information about my boat and only received SCAM type responses trying to get information.
Nothing but scam replied to my boat listing. Absolutely worthless service and waste of money when it didn’t present any valid customers, just scams from multiple sources. Don’t waste your time here!
Overpriced. Their app doesn’t work. Very old-school system customer service terrible. Robbers
I was charged for 12 weeks when I tried to book for 2. I reached out to Boattrader via email within 72 hours and before I got a single lead in order to correct this. I have been emailing them for the past three weeks about it without a single response. Finally, today I dispute it with my bank and they decide to reach out to me and claim they emailed me back and they offered me only 50% refund. Note that 50% is way more than what I would have paid for the 2 weeks I tried to initially book. Also, they never emailed me - not even once. They are stealing from me and they need to get sued! The person I spoke with on the phone was named Asya and she claimed to be a manager and refused to escalate the call to someone that would help me. I am still disputing with my bank. They are not going to steal from me. I will sue if I have to.
Paid for a 6 week Boat for Sale listing. Was charged for it, began to add pictures and description to ad, then it would not commit any changes. Now, 2 weeks later its asking for me to renew!!! Mutliple emails, messages...no response from anyone.
I signed up for 6 months and paid around $250. In 3 weeks, i've had 4 emails that were people trying to SCAM me. This has been a horrible experience, so i called and asked for a refund. They only give you 24 hours to potentially get a refund, which is not reasonable. No refund, instead i'm just screwed. Terrible business and i would would Never recommend working with this platform. Seller Beware!
48 hours in and nothing but scam inquiries. I asked for a refund and they said they refund nothing after 24 hours, and told me to pound sand. Welcome to customer service in 2023 I guess. I'd stay away from them.
PLEASE STAY AWAY! THIS WEBSITE HAS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT, AND THEY MAY SCAM YOU.
My name is Alexander Thomas Berg, from Arlington, TN and on August 5, 2023, I listed three products as a private seller, and all my listings were accepted. Everything seemed fine until two days later when I received three email messages stating that all my ads had expired. I tried to reach their telephone customer support to find out what was happening. A rude representative answered and said they couldn't tell me why my listings had been removed. When I asked about the money they charged me to list the products on their website, she told me to file a complaint with my bank or risk losing my money. Unbelievable!
I did try to file a complaint with my bank, but they said I had personally authorized those transactions and couldn't assist further. Given this, I contacted BoatTrader's email customer support. As of today, August 26, 2023, I have yet to receive a refund. I'll keep you updated on the progress, but please be aware that their services are subpar. I don't recommend using their website to sell your items. Look elsewhere, as these individuals seem to take people's money without any accountability.
I posted our boat for 7days to try out Boat Trader. The only messages I recieved were scams claiming to be interested. Most wanted my information. I feel like somehow this company should have a way to filter out most scamming. You pay a lot of money to post your boat. I did not have good results.
50% + of leads are from scammers. Don't pay $150 to obtain a bunch of scam emails. I have forwarded all of these fraudulent emails to their Fraud email link and have yet to receive a response. Don't waste your time of money on boattrader.com
i can't say it its a long story but dont waste your time on boat trader or auto trader more pop ups and scammers than i ever seen ,, site uses to much data for no reason and most post are scams or sold
boattrader used to be a legitimate business, but since it was purchased by private equity, has devolved into a scam website. Like a dummy, I paid boattrader.com $150 to list my boat. Received about 25 scam emails within 2 weeks and no legitimate inquiries. Then posted my boat for free on nextdoor.com and sold it in 1 week. Below, I posted a copy of one of the scam emails I received:
"Thank you for responding to my inquiry! Sorry for the late reply, I am very interested. However, due to my busy work schedule (I am a neurosurgeon) I won't be able to come for an inspection(I hope that won't be a problem). What is the ownership history? Please give me your honest answer. I am buying it for my Wife's 40th birthday(surprise).
I'll proceed with issuing a bank certified check. All you have to do is deposit the check and it will clear within 24Hours, then I will make arrangements for pickup at your location. If you are willing to sell to me and ok with my busy schedule and mode of payment kindly answer the above question along with your

The check will be mailed to you tomorrow and you will receive it next business day via UPS. I will add an additional $500 for holding it for me till you receive the check. Please delete the ad and consider it sold to me.
Kind regards,

Horrible experience, I placed my boat on sale and received over 100 emails all with check fraud. Seems that Boattrader is a platform for the African check scam. Craigslist was a better option:) I can't believe I am saying this..
