Bodenhams is a family run business located in the heart of Ludlow, Shropshire since 1860, making it one of the oldest stores in Britain. The iconic Ludlow timber building originates from 1405, hosting many vintage and quirky features throughout. Stocking a variety of brands across menswear, ladieswear, lingerie and homeware that include Barbour, Brook Taverner, Fynch Hatton, Seasalt, Masai, Cath Kidston, Triumph, Marie Jo and PrimaDonna, just to name a few. The extensive history is what gives the building and shopping experience at Bodenhams its uniqueness. ‘The Corner Shop’ as originally referred to were four freehold single story shops on the corner of Broad Street and the then Drapers Row (now King Street) where in 1392 the Palmers Guild took on the building. Further owned by many prestigious Ludlow families over the next 400 or so years, William Bodenham acquired the shop in 1860. The son of a farmer, William is said to have turned his back on the countryside in 1858, finding employment in Ludlow with a High Street milliner. He and his wife Emma started their own business which expanded greatly and became one of the great successes of Victorian Ludlow, and the rest is history. Passed down directly through the Bodenham family ever since, the current owners are Roger Curry and his wife Monika. Rogers carpentry background allowed for the shop to have a complete make over from 2012 onwards, giving a modern twist to the shop but keeping the traditional features that Bodenhams is so famed for. Original floor boards, old bread ovens and wooden panelling are just some of the unique features that give Bodenhams its charm to all its customers. Monika's business management and creativity makes them the perfect team, along with long serving staff members all helping to make the business what it is today. Over the last 5 years, Bodenhams have been finalists for both British Independent Retailers Association Independent Shop of the year in 2015 and 2016, as well as STAR Lingerie Awards finalist in 2014 and 2015. Come in to find an array of brands in both menswear and ladieswear, as well as extensive lingerie brands and new homeware collections all brought to you by our staff members friendly and familiar faces. I placed an order last Thursday and it turned out to be out of stock. I received a message that my refund should be with me shortly and I still haven’t received this. A waste of time. I would have at least expected a discount on the any following orders or something but nothing like that. Very disappointing service

We are a small higstreet indie business trading for five generations in beautiful market town Ludlow. To survive the last two years we had to embrace the online world and start offering this channel to our customers, as we do understand its the future.
Unfortunately, we have no extra resources to do this, and we are still learning. All products available on our website are also on our shop floor. This means unfortunately mistakes occur, stock quantities occasionally get out of kilter, or some other human error happens.
We have processed the refund in the system and let you know as soon as we realised our mistake and apologised for the inconvenience this caused you. I am sorry if that wasn't enough and you felt you have to leave us this negative review.

I ordered my jacket from here as it was out of stock in most stores. It arrived 2 days later, beautifully packaged and with a handwritten note, what a lovely touch! The jacket is everything I was hoping for, just stunning!

This means sometimes errors happen. But we always process the refund as soon as we realise (mostly same day) and email customers this information to limit disappointment.

Great service from this company. Also realistic postage prices for posting to NI. I ordered a jumper which arrived exactly when they said it would. Postage was a sensible £3.95. Other sites had quoted £13 + to send to NI.
